At the tender age of ten the least thing on your mind is romance. At that age you’re exploring the world around you. Dirt, bugs and other creepy things of the world don’t bother you; if you're a Tom Boy at least.1

One afternoon my adventures took me under the porch leading to my house. I wasn't looking for anything special. Just a place to explore and hide from the kids that were running about the yard. I could see them through the lattice apron that surrounded the porch, but they couldn’t see me. The sunlight that streamed in was enough for me to see there wasn’t much to be found under the porch. So, I turned my attention to watching the other kids play.3
" Hey watch ya' doing?" A voice startled me. I looked up to find a boy about my own age crawling under the porch. He came to sit next to me.4
"Nothing, " I replied, feeling my cheeks flush.5
The boy asked, " can I sit here with you?"6
" Sure," I shrugged my shoulders, littled butterflies twitching in my stomach. 7
Little did I know I was sitting next to the man I would marry twelve years later. 8
Author notes
This is actually a true story. I met my husband when I was ten years old sitting under a porch. Unfortunately, we are in the middle of a seperation right now.

Your word count is right on.
It sounds like a good thing your little tomboy could not see the future. She may have run for the hills and left that space under the porch for that little boy!
This was a fun little story.
Thank you for sharing and good luck!
