Emo. (ranting, not even worth it)

Emo.1

we all must have heard of this stereotype. One of my friends thought a bunch of Goths was Emo once... that was a long day of explaining...2

As i figure it the term 'Emo' is labelled for ppl who have Self-Pity.. and listen to Rock/punk where the lyrics consist of Self-pity.3

My MSN name changes on average about once every 6 hours, I don't go on every six hours, thats just the average (i have a point to this btw.) My record of changing it (withour purposly doing it 2 make a record) was about 16 times in one night... I was bored and couldn't find a name i liked.4

But any way, Most of my names, are basically labelled 'Depressed' which i admit, they are. But, it just ticks me off to have my MSN name as 'Dismal...' (which is actually a long standing joke between one of my friends, and is no way 'depressive' in the context in which i was using it.) and one of my other friends opens up a window and types... yep 'Emo' nuthin else, just that word.. any way, a small conversation then followed and she was claiming i was completely Emo.5

Which No offence to Emo's.. i'm just not emo. Now, this got me thinking, wats so wrong with Emo's?? I know a few emos... So i said to my friend, 'u hate emo's dnt u.' she said: "no. emos r pretty kool. just GUY ones. Hot ones" (thats a direct quote btw) At this point i was just gettin annoyed at her. so i then told her i was annoyed at her and proceeded to block her.6

Now, this friend of mine, she happens to have a crush on an Emo guy, hence her stereotyping that ALL Emo guys r completely hotties and the Chicks must looked like dememnted pigs or sumthing. (considering the only Emo guy she knows is this guy, i dnt know this guy well, but he says he's emo.)7

So really, Emo, by my friends mental dictionary, must be: 'Any hot guy listening to Punk/rock and looks sad.'8

Yes, that classification works perfectly.9

Indeed, Emo should soon destroy itself, or atleast I hope so.

    I applaud u.
I dnt buy into the whole, 'look at me, i'm crying, pity me' thing, which, in a nutshell, is wat most ppl labelled 'emo' do.. there a few exceptions of course.. personally, i detest the idea of being an 'emo' myself.
    Rantings fun.

Hmmm, definition: self-pity - spot on

Emo, emo, emo. Oh how I hate what it's become. What it stands for has changed completely. I was always sure Emo used to be anything between Weezer and Jimmy Eat World (when they had atleast half-decent songs). Now it stands for My Chemical Sodding Romance and the latter album by Funeral For A Friend and those smaller bands which get featured on myspace music, all a bit rubbish in my opinion. Though emo is more than just the music, it ends up turning into a whole sub-culture with so many bloody conventions to it, it's untrue. I'm sure you'd run out of money in attempting to attain the look and fashion, as a sort of hybrid of punk and goth fashion trends, which have almost become inculcated into this most annoying movement. Emo also tends to extend into poetry, especially on this website. If I read the words 'Crimson Tears' one more time, I think I will go insane. I've got to say, a lot of people both hate and love themselves at the same time. Hate in their constant proclamations of it, and love in the sense that they think themselves so important that they assume everyone else will care (which they don't). Really, there are a lot more people on this world with a lot more problems, and they don't go off being drama queens about it. Most sub-cultures are made of vague ideologies and notions of one kind or another, it may be liked by those that express it, but for the rest of the population I'd like to say 'We've had enough'. Rant closes.

Thnks for clarifying that one for me. I've seen and heard that word like a million times before without knowing what it is. And frankly I was too lazy to care to ask.
Since I was called that many many times, I guess I'm an emo. Nice to know!
