The Cement Wall - Chapter Twenty Six

Chapter Twenty-Six1

The waiting was slowly eating him away inside, turning his organs into decaying heaps that nauseated his body. Eddie tried pacing, but that failed to occupy him. Walking, running in place, and standing still made him anxious. “What the fuck is taking them so fucking long…FUCK!” Talking to himself did very little to relieve the stress, but it gave his body something else to focus on. The watch on his wrist betrayed him, displaying that time as only two minutes later. 2

“I can not stand here and wait. What are they going to do? Throw me in jail for taking initiative?” The car started up smoothly, as if by some unseen force was influencing his actions. In that moment, he understood, fate was finally smiling down upon them all. Where should he go now though? Tara was dead, but who the hell would have killed her? 3

Remembrance of the past events he had shared with Tara led him to the memory of her cheating nature. “Who would want Tara dead, and want to hurt Roxanne?” None of it made any sense to him, nothing may ever make sense again. 4

James or possible Paul were the ones suspected of harming Eddie in the car accident. But Connor had it in for Roxanne, but would he really be capable of killing her? And who killed LeFay? How was Tara the one who called, even though she is dead? Why is the world falling apart?  5

He ignored where he was driving, the only thing concerning him was answered. Questions needed answers, but answers were found sometimes from inside the question. Repeating that to himself, he discovered that he really should have waited for the police. Suddenly suffocation kicked in. He felt himself going under a pool of Roxanne’s blood, with Lefay’s blood floating in the mixture. 6

Sirens followed his conscious mind, awakening the urge to find Roxanne. And to move on from this horror story, into one filled with happily ever after themes. First place he was going to look was with Connor; the worst that could happen is he would be wrong. But sadly he feared being right more then anything else.7

Roxanne struggled against her restraints, and was numbed from the pain of the restraints cutting into her tender flesh. Connor had tied her up in the attic, but she was not sure where she was. It seemed like one of the older houses, in the neighborhood near the docks. The sound of boats pulling into a nearby harbor confirmed her theory, which meant that she was not far from where she wished she were – the apartment. 8

“Stop struggling, you little whore. The only way your going to escape alive is by the death of me.” Connor was no longer the same man; he held a wicked nature. One Roxanne had never witnessed before, and she began to wonder what Lefay’s last thoughts were. 9

“I’m going to let you sweat, and then when I come back, you will close your eyes forever in the most horrible manner.” Before he left the attic door he added, “And another thing, if that bastard Eddie comes to save you. He will die before your very eyes.” 10
