Men In Suits #2

TWO1

She looked up at the enourmous, over powering building above her head. The sky scraper glimmered in the afternoon sunlight. Carefully, Beverly straightened her hair and breathed deeply. She was now officially 'someone else'.2

Pushing the shiny glass doors open, she walked seductively to the desk. She took a moment to admire the plush surroundings, the clean, glimmering marble floors and wood picture frames. The desk clerk looked up suddenly. She could tell by his small and jumpy face he was certainly nervous.3

"Ca..Can I help you, ma'm?"4

"I think you can!" she slid a passport on the counter and watched him closely. After looking deceptively at it he gasped. "Mrs. Ana Starcase!" He breathed. "I..We were expecting you a week later."5

"Yes, well, time is superstitious. Tell me, when can I speak to B. Mill?"6

She was pretending to be someone else; the rich and lucious Ana Starcase, the well known model, and she supposed she was doing allright so far. 7

"Wait here." He nodded and dashed off. She stood, remaining composed, breathing deeply. She adjusted the hearing piece on her ear. she knew the ASC were all listening for any codes. She knew all codes. It had taken her months to memorize them, and now her head was swimming.8

Moments later the man returned, "He will see you in the lounge."9

He led her down a hall and into a large, fancy room with every comfort one could imagine. The desk clerk left her to wait and took off.10

Just as she was facing the windows, gazing thoughtfully into the abuzz of new york city life below, a deep voice forced her to spin around.11

"Mrs. Starcase?" He was tall, slightly greying hair, yet defently good looking in his past youth. His eyes were indifferent, yet clever, studying her discreetly.12

"Hello, Mr. Mill. It's an honour." they shook hands. He motioned for her to sit. "Well, You are early. I'm afraid the peperations for you to go to Manilla aren't ready yet, but if you'll care to wait around here for a few days.." he looked questionally at her. 13

"Sir, with all due respect, I don't have all the time in the world-"14

"I understand." He motioned to a passing bell boy. "Drinks?"15

"yes please." she sank into the couch. Mr. Mill sat next to her modestly, drinking in her soft glossy hair, smooth legs and waxed skin (which had killed her to take care of). She offered a smile. "Well?"16

Lucky for her, they didn't have to worry about the real Ana Starcase. The ASC had taken care of her long ago. He smiled curtly. All she saw in him was an abyss of idleness and suave lifestyle. She shivered.17
