I've placed this letter in a bottle and send it across
the ocean in hopes that fate will find you my love.
I'm but a humble man, sensitive in nature.
Born in a modest family with christian beliefs.
I love life and people though I've been bruised many times.1
My life hasn't been a simple one as I search for
that perfect women.
One suited for someone like myself.
I'm easy going and good natured.
I love music and to paint, draw and write.
Many have described me as wise and perceptive.2
I believe myself to be intelligent but value inner virtues
more than intellect.
I believe the mind, as is the heart, to be very deceptive.
The world is a wonderful place yet it can be quite crazy.
Man has lost his way in society chasing elusive dreams
of fame and fortune.3
Don't misunderstand me, I love the finer things in life
as much as anyone else.
What saddens me is how society worships things.
Whether it be money, power or materialism.
I yearn for a lady of class and virtue whose down to earth.
I believe virtue to be of great value yet I don't expect
her to be perfect.4
I imagine virtue as a inner thing of the heart more than
something you wear on the outside for others to see.
I guess you could say love is what I'm searching for.
The world is so caught up in itself until we've all forgotten
how to truly love.
Beauty is the inner glow of a loving heart in action.
So many times we look for outer appeal, that outward
attraction.5
Life has taught me that such things are vain and fleeting.
The real human experience of love and happiness comes from
deep inside.
My prayer and fondest desire is that this letter would fall
into the right hands.
If only destiny could will this letter in a bottle across
the vastness of this ocean to my soul mate.
Some one that understands life enough to know we're ever
learning.
Someone that understands a man's yearning to be held and
caressed without having to feel effeminate.6
I would love to share my life with a women who could share
my vision and maintain her own sense of self.
One who would have my back no matter what because
she understands what a real relationship is all about.7
I need a strong women who will not be submissive in a weak way
but confident enough in herself and who she is to be able to
allow her man to be a man.
One that could cook a delicious hot meal without making a big
deal about it, and enjoy doing it.8
I love laughter and humor so she would have to possess those
qualities even if she wasn't very funny.
We're so serious about life and lose our child like spirit.
I want a women who still knows how to be a girl but is very
much the mature women.9
I also value good conversation so I would hope that she is
capable of holding my interest as well as I hers.
To find someone that you could love and admire as a friend
and lover would be like a dream come true.
I believe that if a man and a woman are truly together in
mind and spirit, that nothing can stop them.10
Life with that kind of combination is exhilarating.
Each day would be like a wonderful adventure.
Everything they do would be so significant.
The intensity of love and passion would be even greater.
The potential for a great life would be paramount.11
I hope this letter finds you my love.
For we have a lot to talk about and plenty to do.
I welcome you into my life with open arms and would
like to say, "where have you been hiding!"
"Everything I own is yours and I can't wait

This is just a fabulous write. I read it several times.
This captures my own heart and got me choked up. For we have a lot to talk about and plenty to do.....That is just so energizing to the soul. You really did a great job on this.

This is beautiful! Your letter made me smile on several occasions! You described me at some points, which is why I smiled. For example, when you described your ideal woman as being "a strong woman who will not be submissive in a weak way
but confident enough in herself and who she is to be able to
allow her man to be a man", it made me think about how I am with my boyfriend. I cook him dinner sometimes, and he is incredibly appreciative that I put the effort into it. I used to burn the dinner, or have the potatoes cold and lumpy, but now I make a hot meal with no problems whatsoever. Practise! Thank you for your entry, I really enjoyed reading it.

To reply to the im u sent me, all this "hypothetical" stuff behind this poem, I honestly think, that deep down inside everyone one of us, even if we won't admit it to ourselves, we are looking for that "perfect" lover/partner. We keep comparing our lovers and look for that specific someone who will combine the different aspects of the old/ex lovers that we like/love/want. We keep looking for this person, even though we all know that no one is perfect..lol.
This is a great write. Reflects what many of us do without noticing or acknowledging it.

I suspect this contest was requesting love letters to another...??? i don't know how to critique such a thing myself, because I suppose contest criteria was not based on poetry, but correspondence of such nature.
in any event, even as a letter to your presumed lover fishing this bottle from ocean's edge, it may have just provided too many unnecessary and futile details of yourself. for instance, even in the first stanza when you describe yourself in your own words as "born in a modest family with Christian beliefs." this is a letter rolled into a bottle cast into the ocean. not all receivers at the other end of that ocean are looking for those of Christian beliefs or even modest families. maybe this letter would have been best addressed to someone you might automatically presume this information and other information as to yourself within your letter might impress.
all in all, I hope some nice lady does pick up on your "message in a bottle" and I also send my best wishes to you in the contest!!! -
This letter reads like one completing an on-line dating application. It may reveal much about the narrator but as a man, it reads more like a sales pitch for an available female. Hehehe, hope your plan works. Better than wearing a tee-shirt that is printed with ,"I'm Available". Hehehe I am sure the women here are going to eat this up!

A more warm, loving, sweet, tender and caring letter I have never read in my entire life. A man that can pour his heart out as such deserves someone very special. May find this woman where ever she maybe hiding. May she be longing for you and you are for her. And may your love burn bright for eternity.
