"Ummmmmmmm....... Honey, you might wanna get in here. I think I may have killed it," Mr Smith shouted out to his wife.1

As he waited for his wife to come back, he turned yet again to the boiling mess on the stove. Why oh, why, did Mary Anne think he could watch a pot. When had he ever been able to wait anything without destroying it.2

Take the dog for example......... he had been watching it when it had run off. 3

"Where is that damn dog?" Doug wondered out loud.4

"He ran off five years ago, Doug. Let it go." Yes, Mary Anne had entered the room.5

Why oh, why did she let her husband watch the pot? He could never watch a thing. The kids were always over running the house when he watched them.6

"Doug, did it occur to you that you may have over cooked the stew?"7

"Honey, with your ummmmm....... excellent cooking skills how could I overcook the....... stew was it?" Doug looked at the black boiling mess on the stove. He knew he could not watch some things, but he knew that this thing had never looked like a stew.8

Mary Anne was a horrible cook.9

"Yes, a stew. Which by the way, you have killed, Douglas," Mary Anne looked at her husband. Yes, he could eat a lot, but he was never much for caring what he ate.10

"This thing has never been a stew."11

"Honey, it was a stew before you killed it."12

Doug looked at it one last time. This was not his fault.13

"Mary Anne, I think it died a long time before I got a hold of it."14

"Well, I'm blaming you for this tragic death." Mary Anne began to giggle a bit.15

Doug looked at it and decided "Why don't we just order out? I hear that all the cool people are doing it these days."16

And so began the grand tradition of burned stews and ordering out in the Smith household. Let this be a lesson to you, however. Never let a husband watch a pot of stew made by a wife that cannot cook.
