Tainted Blood - Prologue

The moon rose high above the endless meadow, reflecting brilliantly off the warm lake. The sakura tree next to it wavered in the gentle breeze of the night air, blowing the sakura petals across the lake. Beside it stood a man that was about 5'11, his pure white hair glowing in the moonlight like snow on Christmas morning. His bright red eyes stared at the lake, his young face kept a calm expression as his straight leg, faded jeans wavered slightly with the wind. His torso was slim and ripped perfectly in every spot. He turned his head slightly as an intense aura started to appear behind him. Two portals opened up behind him. One looked like a rip in reailty that led to utter darkness. The other was a glowing white circle with strange symbols in it and it suspended about an inch from the ground. Out of the rip stepped a figure wearing a black cloak that concealed it's entire form. From the symbol, a figure wearing a white cloak that concealed it's entire form as well except for in it's right hand was a large, black staff.1

"About time. Did you find someone?" The man by the lake asked. His voice was extremely young, though he pronounced his words with tone that revealed much experience or arrogance.2

"Yes, father we did." The one in the white cloak said, it's soft and gentle voice betraying that it was a girl.3

"Outstanding Tiem. And what of you Eutran? Is your training with Predas going well." The man asked turning to look at the two.4

"It's full of pain, I'm tired of holding a rifle, and my arm is severly burned by his black lightning. So, all and all, yeah it is." Eutran said to the man, his voice raspy yet young.5

"That was the plan," The man said and sat, leaning against the tree, "Now, what is his name and what exactly did he do?"6

"Well," Tiem said and moved in front of him, "His name is Cain and I think I have found a very special boy."7

"And that is?" The man asked raising an eyebrow curiously.8

"Well, his blood has extreme amounts of magical potency."9

"I hope so...what makes him so special."10

"No, I mean his blood specifically has magical potency. He is a blood mage. Probably the last one in all the dimensions." Tiem stated with great enthusiasm.11

"Now that has potential." The man said as he rubbed his chin, "Send him to Karas. Let's see what he's got."12

"Sure thing, father." Tiem exclaimed cheerfully when the white circle appeared under her feet. The man and Eutran watched as she disappeared down into the circle. After she was gone, a large burly man stepped out from behind the tree. He had short, dirty blond hair that wavered with the wind. He wore ACU pants and boots with a tan short sleeve shirt. His eyes were as dull as lead and on his left bicept was what looked like a black hawk tattoo.13

"There you are Eutran," The burly man stated with dry humor, waving a black key that had a strange glow, "Thanks for the portal key Crimm."14

"Well thanks for beating the hell out of my son for the better of man kind." The man by the tree chuckled to the burly man and they both burst out into jovial laughter.15

"Nice to know I'm loved." Eutran noted in a dry, monotone voice. Crimm and Predas smiled and looked at Eutran.16

"Go ahead back to the Field." Predas commanded happily to Eutran who, after a simple bow, dug his figures into the ground, creating the black hole in reailty, and disappeared into it.17

"So, are you sure you want to send him to Karas?" Predas asked raising an eyebrow. 18

"It's where I learned my magical basics, granted that I stumbled there unwillingly and was tormented by a boy who was pretending to be a demon to gain my powers so that his master could gain my..." Crimm was saying before Predas held up a hand, stopping Crimm.19

"Just get to the point." Predas demanded, shaking his head.20

"Yes, well, I have...connections to the headmaster there and she's already sent for him. In fact, if Tiem has as good of timing as her abilities allow, then she already got my letter to the headmaster and Cain is on his way to Karas." 21

"Wait...this kids name is Cain?" Predas asked then brust out into a heavy laughter.22

"Yes, I know, he has the same name as...him." Crimm stated with a groan of annoyance.23

"That cannot be a good sign." Predas chuckled as he pretended to wipe away tears after his laughing died down.24

"None the less, I'm just going to sit back, relax, and watch this kid squirm through this test. I wonder if he'll be able to survive the Mage Arena as I did." Crimm said with a wicked grin. Predas let out a low chuckle as he looked in to the lake. The moon reflected brilliantly off the lake center.
