Journey Into Narnia

A small girl named Holly gazed into the strange glass. She did not know what was behind it, but she knew he was there. She wiped away her tears as the ruby reflection gazed back at her from behind the wall. Then she turned away, she could not go on like this. She could not continue staring into the endlessness of space. She needed a guide or a friend or a foe. It could be anyone but she could not get in alone.1

Then she heard the sound, “Ca cah! Ca cah! Cackle.” She turned to look around her, but there was nothing. “Caaah Caaah cackle.” It came again, the sound of the strange bird. And then at once a horrible laughter as the great black bird swooped down to perch upon her arm. “Cackle cah cah.”2

“What are you?” The girl asked it.3

“I am your guide. I was sent to your from the others…cah”4

“The others. What others?” The girl asked the bird.5

“Caaah Caah Cackle…The Children”6

Then the bird began a strange heaving cough and at least he spoke, “Crow! Call me Crow!”7

The young girl stared in awe at Crow. 8

“Crow, how can I get through the red glass?” 9

“Oh child! You cannot get in without me!”10

“Caw caw,” it sang out, “I will carry you with my feet.”11

Crow began to dance and as the girl watched the magical display, a new hope had overcome her.12

“Grab hold of my feet. I will carry you.”13

The young girl did just that, and Crow swept her off the ground. They rose up and up higher than she had ever been. Then she could see below her the towering wall of ruby glass. 14

“In there! In there!” She shouted to crow, “That is where they took my brother. I have to save him crow!”15

“Ahh now, how did your brother get in there?”16

The girl began sobbing. “I don’t know how. I was traveling with James and we saw a then suddenly we heard little footsteps and high pitched squeals. Then we were being carried to this wall. I fought as hard as I could, but he was gone before I could yell to him!”17

“Caw Caw Croooow! They don't call me Crow for nothing!”18

“And what do they call you, little girl?”19

“My name is Holly.”20

The crow was taking her within the wall, and Holly felt a faint hope that James was safe inside. Holly could see the little people and knew them by their squeals of laughter. And then she saw him. He was sitting upon a giant golden throne.21

The crow swooped down and she landed before him.22

“James! You're alright!”23

“Who are you? Where do you come from little girl? “24

“But but don’t you know, James, I am your sister! Holly!”25

“No I’ve never had a sister. But I’ve never seen a girl before in all my life…tell me miss Holly, now how have you gotten into my castle?”26

“It was Crow. Crow took me in. Right crow?”27

Holly looked where the bird had been, but it was gone.28

“The crow! He was right here with me!”29

“She’s mad! Take her to the dungeon!”30

Holly suddenly found herself being carried by dozens of tiny men.31

“Wait! No!” She yelled to her brother.32

“You have to remember me!”33

In a last attempt she tore off her silver locket with his picture. 34

“It’s you James! You know you remember me!” She sobbed as she was carried down to the dungeons of the castle of Narnia.35

This reads like a winner to me, good writing and I like the way that you used Narnia in the story. Well done, makes me wish it was longer....
