Outside In- Chapters 1&2

Chapter 11

I sniffed the air, breathing quickly, I twisted my head around. I could hear something in the bush…2

I tensed myself, the hairs on my back rose and I frantically sniffed the air, trying to catch the scent of my unannounced visitor. There was a noise behind me, a rustling in the trees. I walked to the edge of the clearing and slid into the scrub, still searching for my visitor.3

"It’s me, stay where you are."4

I heard Red’s voice in my head and scowled.5

"Stay where I am? You’re kidding right?"6

"No, stay there! I mean it; if you get hurt then the rest of the pack will have to move in. Not on, Serena."7

"Aw come on Red, you ruin all the fun of being a shape shifter!"8

I continued on into the bush, smelling the undergrowth and searching for any signs of who might be there. The scent was beginning to weaken and I wanted to find whatever it was before it was gone completely. I dug my snout into the ground, pushing leaves and dirt up in my search for clues. I should have been watching where I was going; I would have seen Eli standing in front of me, in human form of course.9

"Aw man! No way!" I cried out loud to myself when I saw Eli. 10

He looked down at me, his face a mixture of weariness and confusion. All he could hear was a whining noise. He held a small black and white bundle out in front of him, clothes. I growled at Eli but let him place them on my back. He waited but I looked at him as if to say, ‘You think I’m gonna let you watch?’, and he got the message. He walked off back towards the clearing that I had come from. 11

"No fair Red, you always get your way!" I complained before changing back into human form.12

I quickly slid on the clothes that Eli had passed me and I was disgusted to find that it was a dress. A knee length black and white dress. I hate a lot of things in this world, and dresses are on the list.13

“Who the hell picked this?!”I yelled in disgust, looking at the monstrosity that most people would call a dress.14

“I did. Now quit your whining, we have somewhere to be.” Red appeared at my side wearing a suit, complete with a tie I noticed, raising my eyebrows. We started walking back to the clearing where I knew Eli, and probably the rest of the pack, would already be. Stepping over the rough weeds and earth, I asked Red something that was annoying me.15

“So where exactly are we going?”16

“Party.”17

“Really? I’d never have guessed it, the way we’re dressed up.” I rolled my eyes at Red and he laughed.18

“Cheer up, Princess. Ty’ll be there.” Red stopped and looked back at me, I stared at him menacingly.19

“What the hell does he want? All he ever does is cause trouble…he thinks he’s so smart…and he thinks he’s handsome! Ugh! He’s so completely and totally up himself!”20

“Now I hope you weren’t talking about me there princess…”21

I looked up in disgust. Ty Walker was standing in the middle of the clearing, surrounded by my pack members. He had no shirt on and his denim shorts were all ripped, I felt as if I were going to throw up.22

“I was actually; good to see your psychic abilities are still just as acute as ever.” I smirked at him, he wished he was psychic. “Now, let’s get back to the reason we’re here.”23

Chapter 224

“Something’s been terrorising the city, princess. If you actually gave a damn about anyone else in the world you just might have realised!” Ty shouted at me and began pacing the clearing, my pack members just stared on. I was hurt by Ty’s words; he had no idea, no idea, about my life. 25

I went to reply, but Jay, another pack member, must have seen something written on my face because he stepped in before I had a chance.26

“Calm down both of you. Red,” Red looked over. “Shut them up will you?” 27

“Ty, Rena, cut the crap will you? Like I said earlier, we have somewhere to be.” Red looked around. “Ty put some clothes on for god’s sake!”28

I looked at Ty, then looked at Red. Red started to leave the clearing, heading for our base, so I followed. It was the pack rule, wolf form or not, we have to follow the Alfa male. We trudged through the thick grass, tripping and sliding as we did. Eli slowed down to walk at the back of the group with me.29

“Jay and I could see you looked pretty upset. I know it must be tough being the only girl in the pack but…”30

“What?!” I yelled. “It’s not being the only girl in the pack that’s bugging me! It’s the way I’m treated for being the only girl in the pack!” Eli jumped at my sudden outburst, and I understood why, in my moment of anger my fangs had begin to come through. I stretched my neck out, pulling my fangs back in, and looked at Eli apologetically. “I’m sorry…”31

“Nah, don’t worry. It gets the better of us all occasionally…But seriously, that was creepy. Please never do that to me again!” Eli and I laughed. I caught Ty looking back at us, he was snarling. That is something else that I hate about Ty, he always acts as if the rest of us are five year olds. Like we don’t know what we’re doing and he does. He’s not even a shape shifter, what does he have above us? He’s just a human who likes to pretend that he is a shape shifter.32

We arrived at the base, an old country style two storey house that was abandoned years ago. It was the perfect place for us, out in the middle of the scrub where people rarely venture. It doesn’t matter if people happen to come out, just so long as they don’t see us transform. We do that a lot, so it’s good to have somewhere we can go.33

I walked in and collapsed on to the couch. “So what’s this party we’re going to and when is someone going to tell me about the city being terrorised?” I was confused, no-one else was sitting down. They always walk in and sit down! “Guys?”34

“C’mon Princess, party time…” Red walked out the door followed by the pack and Ty.35

“No way! Tell me about the city!” I called after him. “Please?!” I didn’t want to get up again, I’d just sat down!36

Red’s answer sung through the windows. “At the party Princess, come on!” 37

I groaned and stood up. This was going to be a long night.38

Author notes

I like the idea of wolfmen (not really werewolves...because they change whenever they want)...but I didn't want to do the whole 'girl gets saved by werewolf and gets into a love triangle' kind of story, so I took on the role of a wolfgirl...Hope you like
