My Best Friend

It was a sunny day and James was helping me move in. 1

The boarding school was named,Hilltop Boarding School and located in Los Angeles.2

My room is at the third floor and we took the elevator.3

James, is my best friend and we've known each other since we were in the first grade. He is a soccer player and the most popular guy in school and of course when you say the most popular it means that he's one of the hottest guys in school.4

James has big,brown eyes like mine and his hair was all over the place and dark brown. In other words he's muscular and very handesome and he's about 5'10.5

They would always judge our friendship 'cause I was like the school's underdog and of course we would always be bothered and James always try to protect our friendship.6

He was a like an older brother to me.7

Oh, I almost forgot to introduce myself.8

Hi! I'm Sarah Smith.9

I have big,brown eyes like James and blondish brown hair,5'5, and thin. Simple10

And I have a secret to share with all of you, but don't tell anyone 'cause you're dead! Here goes! I'm secretly crushing on my best friend since we were in the 5th grade. I know, I know. You may think that this kind of crush is so common, but I don't really know why I like him. Most of the girls I know crush on him just because he has good looks and he's a soccer player, but there's something I really like about him, it's a mystery. I dont even know why I like him. 11

"So,S, can you help me move in now?" James asked as he sets my last luggage down.12

"Sure! So, do you know who your roomate is,yet?" I asked.13

"Yep, Brian Castle. How about you? Do you know who you're roomate is?"14

"Yep, your sister again. You don't know how she begged Ms. Brown just to be my roomate again." I laughed.15

"Let me guess. She did her puppy eyes and she promised that she'd do anything?" He said while tapping a finger in his chin.16

"Exactly!" 17

We took the elevator and walked towards his car and got his things.18

We walked to his dorm and rode the elevator again going up to the fourth floor.19

He opened his dorm and set down his things then he plopped down on one of his bean bags.20

"Aren't you going to get the rest of your things?" I asked giving him a confused look.21

"I am, I'm just going to appreciate the room." He said and smiled.22

He almost took my breath away and all I could do was stare at him and smile back.23

I plopped down on the bean bags and sat next to him. I looked at the ceiling and we started talking and laughing.24

After talking for a few minutes we went back to getting James' things.25

As we reached his dorm room Ashley Stewart was there leaning on his door,smiling.26

Great, school's gonna start in just two weeks and I still have to see her in the first day I moved in? Ugh!27

Ashley Stewart was the school's Queen Bee. Most of the people here in HBS hate her, except for her dumb nit wits. They were all the same.28

"Quick,pretend to be my girlfriend. But if that does not work jump onto my arms and pretend to make-out with me." He said as Ashley came closer.29

"Excuse me? You do know that this dosen't work. Besides, she's just going to say bad things about me." I said as Ashley came closer.30

And before he could say anything Ashley was there resting her hand on his chest. She was fluttering her eyes and it looked like something was stuck there. She pouted her lips and started flirting with James.31

Okay. Well, here goes nothing pretending to be James' girlfriend.32

"Excuse me, but James here is taken." I smiled at her as I stood in between them.33

"And you are?" She said sounding disgusted. I could smell her strong perfume that hurt my nose. I coughed a little and glared at her.34

"Let me introduce myself. I'm James' girlfriend." I said with a smile.35

I felt two arms wrap around my waist and rest his chin on my shoulder. He brushed his lips on the crook of my neck then up to my jawbone and whispered "Thanks."36

I blushed as he did that to me. 37

"You're welcome." I turned around to see him and kissed his chin. He smiled and we both turned our heads to Ashley.38

She stood there with her arms crossed and I could practically see steam coming out of her nose and ears.39

"Someday. James. You will be mine." She screeched as she walked away.40

"I doubt it." I whispered to myself. 41

Finally, we reached his dorm. 42

James' sister was already there, Monica.43

She was waiting for us.44

"Hey, Mon!" We greeted her.45

"Hey, guys!" She squealed. 46

"So you guys have plans for tonight?" She asked excitedly.47

Man,she's so hyper today. 48

Monica has light brown eyes and a cute button nose,her hair was brown like James' and looks exactly like him. She's extremely hyper when it goes to shopping and dates or movie nights. She would dress me up and put make up on me. Growing up I was like her living Barbie Doll, but honestly I would look really good with my dress,hair,and make up. She's pretty and most of the boys here like her.49

They would always ask her out, but they would have to ask James for their permission to just date her. James was really protective of her.50

"Well, we could eat dinner just the three of us." James suggested.51

"Sure! Hey James. Mike Turner just asked me out. Please let me go!" Monica pleaded.52

Wow! She just moved in and she got first date.53

"He didn't even ask for my permission."54

"Yeah, but he will!" She was kneeling down in front of him.55

I giggled to myself.56

They both looked at me and then went back to the talking.57

"Fine!" He said."But you tell him to ask for my permission okay?"58

"Thanks. Sheesh, you know you're like my father here in campus. I have to ask for your permission. Which really is kind of embarrassing. No offence." She said as she sat down on one of the bean bags. 59

We were a big fan of bean bags. We loved it. 60

James sat next to me and turned on the T.V set. 61

Heroes was showing.62

I was getting ready for our dinner together with James and Monica. 64

"Hey you need help in there?" Monica asked from outside the bathroom.65

"Nope! But thanks."66

"Okay, but be sure to look good tonight 'cause someones gonna be drooling!" She said in a teasing voice.67

What did she mean? Who's gonna be drooling?68

"I picked your clothes out! If that's okay!" 69

"Sure!" I said as I went out of the bathroom.70

I combed my hair and wore the dress that Monica brought out for me.71

"Hey, Monica are you su-" I said as I looked around the room, she was gone. 72

"Ugh. Annoying best friend!" I yelled.73

Monica brought out a black short-sleeved dress and white shoes to go with it.74

I curled my hair and left it down. I grabbed my white purse and texted James and Monica.75

"Hey, Monica said that we're going to eat dinner here at a restaurant called La Maisonette The little room. Sounds fancy no wonder Monica told me to wear a suit."78

As I read it my eyes went wide open. 79

"Oh okay. She made me wear a black short sleeved dress. Is she there with you? Wow, La Maisonette The little room...It does sound fancy!Ha-ha!"82

"Yep we're here waiting for you."85

After a few moments I replied.86

"I don't even know where the hell that is! She didn't even give me directions! What was she thinking! She left me without even saying good-bye."89

I sat on the chair next to my working desk and after a dew minutes I recieved a text from James.90

"Really? Okay, I'll be there in a dew minutes. I'll pick you up."91

I laughed to myself. "Okay, thanks James! Hurry up 'cause I'm starving like crazy! Kidding!" 92

I waited for James and I started reading a book.93

Moments later I heard a knock on my door.94

I went and opened the door.95

James was standing in hallway.96

He was wearing a black tux and a black tie.97

"Wow, Monica dressed you well." I said smiling.98

He laughed and led me out to his car. 99

"Hey, sorry about what Monica did." He apologized.100

"Oh that's fine."101

He started the engine and drove towards the restaurant.102

We talked and laughed along the way. I couldn't help but stare. He would catch me sometimes and I would just look away and blush.103

We finally reached the restaurant. Of course, James got out of the car before I did and opened the door for me. I smiled at him as I got out of his car.104

He opened the door of the restaurant. We walked towards Monica's table.105

"I'm so sorry Sarah. I didn't even leave a message. I'm so sorry! I just that you knew where this restaurant was located since you always go out here by yourself." She apologized as she locked her fingers together.106

"Yeah, it's fine. I understand." I said as I sat down next to her.107

James sat next to me and we ordered our food.108

We laughed and talked and do the usual best friend bonding things. Our food finally came. The food was awesome. We went back to talking.109

Dinner was almost over and Monica and I were excused to go to the bathroom. 110

"You really do like him do you?" Monica giggled.111

"What do you mean?" I asked nervously.112

"You like him. And if you keep looking at him like that he'll eventually find out." 113

"I do not like him." I lied. Luckily, it was convincing enough. 114

"Oh please. Sarah. I know you too well. Your friendship will be something more." 115

Before I could say anything she skipped out of the bathroom. Why does she always do that? I shook my head put on some lip gloss and went outside. 116

Monica was no where to be found. I sat next to James and asked where Monica was and he told me that she was tired and went back to our dorm we got the check and we both argued on who was going to pay. I didn't like it when he pays for our dinner. He didn't give in so I gave up.117

We went out and to his car. He opened the door for me and smiled.118

"You do know I hate it when you pay for dinner right? I mean you know me." I sighed.119

"Yeah, I know but you could pay some other time." He laughed. 120

We fell into an awkward silence and started walking towards my dorm. He gave me a kiss on the forehead and hugged me goodnight.121
