Athena and Calliope were chatting. Thalia was trying desperately to find Apollo. Clio was trying not to be too loud, talking loudly to Polyhymnia. Terpsichore was checking on how she looked in a mini-mirror. Nyx and Melpomene were trying hard to looked depressed. Urania was trying not to run into people, reading, and Erato was flirting with some random Egyptian god.1
"'POLLO, 'POLLO, A-POLL-O-O-O-!!" Thalia screamed, and ran over to him. Apollo had his Sitar swung on his back in its case. He was walking with Ares who seemed particularly angsty. Mikayla sat on a stone wall reading a book, she looked up at the mention of Apollo but didn't pay him any mind for the time being. Artemis sighed as she walked through the school. Her bow was on her back, as were her pack of arrows. She was carrying her books in her arms and looking around, trying to find a familiar face, but was failing. Ares stormed away from Apollo and tripped over Mikayla. Angrily he snapped, "What in Hades' name are you doing in the middle of the hallway?!" 2
Artists heard the yell and turned, Seeing Ares and Mikayla. Ares seemed very anger. She sighed. Artemis went over. "Whats going on now?" Ares raged, "That thing tripped me! I'm a bloody god! She should know better!" Artemis sighed. "Can you at least try and look when you walk? It won't kill you to try that once in a while." Ares stood up and raised a fist. "Are you saying I'm oblivious?! A god?!" Artemis nodded. Nyx ran up with Thalia. While she simply nodded at Ares, Thalia went ahead and made a big deal out of everything, and jumped on Apollo's back. 3
Artemis blinked. "APOLLO!" she yelled again, giggling. Nyx raised an eyebrow. Artemis sighed. Mikayla had stayed quiet. Messing with Ares wasn't smart, so when the disruption occurred she found it as a distraction and silently melted into a pool of water. She then traveled around Ares, reformed and began to sneak away. "'Pollo, I was CALLING you!" Thalia said, though still smiling. Artemis walked away from them. "Hey, where's your sister goin', eh? EH?" Artemis sighed. "HEY ARTEMIS, COME BACK!" Thalia yelled, still holding her place on her twin's back. 4
Artemis sighed again and turned. She came back. "What?" Thalia started suddenly to her half-sister, "HI! Oh ZEUS, I haven't talked to YOU TWO in FOREVER! NAD I'M ON A SUGAR-CAFFEINE HYPE!" Artemis held in a laugh. Thalia was panting by then. She laughed suddenly, kissed Apollo on the cheek, and jumped off his back. Artemis made a disgusted face at that. How could her brother stand that? Thalia raised an eyebrow. "YES?" She shivered "That's just gross." Thalia sighed. "Not EVERYONE vowed to be a maiden for the rest of eternity, you know! And I didn't even really DO anything!"5
She just sighed. "RIGHT?" Apollo lazily slipped his Sitar off of his back and let it rest against the wall. "'Sup?" Ares brushed the dirt off of himself and let out an annoyed grow. Nyx spoke up suddenly. "Er, Ares?" her voice trembled just saying his name. Ares hastily turned to her. "What do you want?!" She flinched.6
Thalia immediately said loudly, drowning out whatever Nyx had to say, "HEY, LET'S DO SOMETHING!" Ares crossed his arms and lifted an eyebrow. "And what do you suppose we do?" Artemis turned and started to leave. Apollo waved good-bye.7
"I suppose that we.. Uh... Hmm... I dunno.." Thalia said suddenly, crossing her arms, and staring blankly into space. "I'll see ya' later, Bro!" Artemis called back as she left. "Well I'm 'onna run through the halls for a while, just 'cause no one can get me in trouble... Yet.." she mumbled, then suddenly took Apollo's hand. "And YOU'RE comin' with me!" Apollo wrapped his arms around Thalia absentmindedly. "Oh come ON!" she said, crossing her arms. "you know what? When was the last time I inspired anyone to do anything?" Thalia was now mainly talking to herself, maybe Apollo. "I need to live up to my Muse expectation..." 8
Apollo unwrapped his arms and pulled out his Sitar. "Okay, inspire me." Thalia shook her head. "I can't do that for music, silly! You of all gods should know! You're closest to me..." she sighed. "I more of a poetry slash theatre slash EPICNESS kinda' goddess, you know?..." she trailed off,a nd laughed suddenly, a sweet little laugh. Apollo gave shrug. "So which one of you does inspire music?" Thalia replied, as if should be the most obvious thing in the whole wide world, "EUTERPE?.. Now," she said suddenly, "I already told you that I'd like to run through the halls with you! Now c'mon, PLEASE?" He shrugged. "Naw, I don't feel like it. Euterpe?" 9
"YES.. PLEASE?!" Thalia begged, seizing the front of his shirt, and pulling his face about an inch from hers. "Oh, alright." He sighed and packed up his Sitar. "Thank you!" she said happily, kissing him on each cheek. "Now you just want to run?" he asked carelessly. "I WANT to do MUCH more than run, but I don't wanna get kicked out... NEVER. AGAIN." Thalia said with a shudder. "What happened?" Apollo asked. "Well, uh.. Let's just say I owe Athena big time.. NOW LET'S GO!" Thalia yelled suddenly, grabbing Apollo's hand, and started running fast. Apollo lagged, but still ran alongside her. "Now why are we doing this?" 10
She shrugged, and said simply, "Well, why not?" Apollo didn't reply and instead stopped. "Well then I'm out." Thalia copied him, and spun around. "WHY?" she whined. "I don't want to do something like run through the halls like an idiot," he countered. "Didn't know I'm an idiot." Thalia growled quietly, her eyes flashing. "Stop complaining," Apollo said apathetically, turning to walk away. She growled something, turned in the opposite direction, and stalked off. Ares and Apollo walked to their first class as the bell rang. Too bad they had Thalia in their class. Thalia was avoiding Apollo best she could, out of anger, staying with he rest of the Muses on the opposite side of the room. But just as she had come in, she'd run into Apollo, and dropped her books. "FRICK!" 11
"Nice going, jerkwad!" Thalia growled at Apollo, after they'd run into each other, and AFTER the books tumbled out of her arms. But Apollo bent down and picked up her books. Handing them to her with a smile, he asked, "Lose something?" She looked down, moistened her lips, and was about to spit some retort, but decided to say instead, "Thanks, 'Pollo..." A loud scream rang out. "HOLY--" started Thalia, near dropping her books again. Apollo draped an arm around her shoulders and turned in the direction of the screaming. 12
