Class Rebel (Part 14)

As we walked out of detention a couple people laughed at me. I didn't care I couldn't help what I said in my sleep. After a great nap in detention I was in a great mood. Jason on the other hand didn't seem as enthused. He just walked away without saying anything.1

"What's his problem?" Maggie asked me. I shrugged, and put my back pack in my locker. After that Maggie and I went to the park to hang out. There was nothing else to do. On the way there I told her about how Jeremy and I got in that huge dodge ball fight. 2

"Well at least you have a good reason to look dumb. That gash in your face is huge, and it's gross cover your face or something dude." Maggie teased. I pushed her jokingly, and covered up my face with my hood.3

"I can't see Maggie!" I shouted as I ran into her on purpose. She pushed me hard on to the ground. I didn't know what her problem was. "Gosh Maggie don't be a bitch!" I shouted.4

"Darrel how about you shut up!" Maggie said just loud enough for me to hear her. I pulled my hood down, and looked up. Look who just happened to show up. 5

"Hello Darry." Lawson mocked me. I rolled my eyes and stood up. I felt like an idiot sitting on the floor. I wonder vaguely what he wanted, but I knew what he wanted quickly. We had gotten him detention and Jeremy and I had gotten into a huge dodge ball game with him and almost won, so no wonder he wanted some sort of revenge. 6

"Lawson go home." I muttered. I was in such a great mood, and Lawson had just ruined it. He pushed me down again. Quickly I searched around making sure he was the only one around. None of his other buddies were there. I pushed him back, and he stumbled back. 7

"Guys knock it off!" Maggie shouted angrily. From the look on her face I knew she didn't want to be there. Lawson pushed me harder. I almost fell, but regained my balance just before I toppled over. He tried to punch me, but missed. He grimaced and tried again. He hit me that time right in the chest. The hit took my breath away. He must have put all his strength into that hit. Lawson grinned evilly and then tried to punch Maggie. I grabbed his arm and twisted it, before he could do anything. Maggie had had a bad enough day without getting her ass beat. 8

Lawson pulled his arm back quickly and swung at me again. Maggie stood back behind me away from us. I danced around like an idiot quickly while Lawson tried over and over to punch me. A couple times he got me pretty good, but I was quick and he was quickly getting tired. Finally after a while I started punching him. He punched each other over and over. My knuckles were starting to bleed again since I had split them open the night Jason and I got jumped. Lawson got grossed out when he started getting stains on his shirt.9

"You stupid freaking whore! You got me detention and a ruined shirt, just because you think your life is so horrible because you mess around with guys and always get screwed over. Well maybe if you'd just keep your pants zipped you wouldn't have issues with life you nasty skank!" Lawson shouted. 10

Maggie fumed and quickly started punching Lawson as hard as she could. He gave up and left. Even cocky little Lawson knew there was no chance he could beat Maggie and I in a fight. He didn't like it when he got beat up by more than one person much. I didn't get why he always did that to us. 11

After that Maggie was in a bad mood, and didn't want to hang out. I walked to her house with her to make sure she was ok. When Maggie was upset she'd hide her feelings for months before telling me, and I hated it. She insisted she was ok before she went in. Her dad said goodbye to me as I left. He didn't like me much. Since I got into lots of trouble he assumed I was a bad kid, and shouldn't be hanging around his daughter. It didn't bother me much, because parents were never very fond of me anyways.12

Boredom got the best of me after about an hour or so, and I walked around trying to find Jason or Jeremy or anyone for that matter to hang out with. I walked to the small town diner, and saw Jason working. He was busy, and to my surprise Jeremy was there. He was a little bus boy. Since they were both there I decided to go in to buy myself a burger and fries.13

"Hey Jeremy!" I said, and gave him a high five. He just stared at me like I was an idiot, and went back to his job. Jason walked over to take my order. 14

"Yo Jason what’s up?" I said cheerfully. Jason frowned, and rolled his eyes. He sure had a habit of doing that. I sunk back in my seat. He must have still been mad about the argument he and his brother got in. I realized it was sort of my fault for telling him what we did this weekend. I have always been honest, but at times I don't keep my mouth shut real well.15

"May I take your order." Jason said with an annoyed expression on his face. 16

"Dude cut the crap," I started, "Look I didn't mean to tell your brother what we did this weekend. Well I didn't mean to tell the whole story, but being pissed at me isn't going to do much." I said kind of meanly. I really hated when my friends were mad at me. Jason sighed, and walked off. What a jerk he didn't even take my order yet. 17

Jason walked back over and took his little hat thing off. I don't know why they made people at the diner wear hats, but they did. He sat down at the booth across from me. He just looked out the window, and it felt really awkward just sitting there. "So….." I said quietly. 18

"What?" Jason asked. I sighed. Jason was being annoying. I didn't mean to tell his brother, and get them into a fight. He didn't seem to get that though.19

"Are you going to just sit here or, what?" I asked. Jason shook his head. "Dude talk the awkward silence is awkward." I complained. Jason didn't say anything. I was about ready to get up and leave. My friend wasn't talking to me, and none of those fools were taking my order. What lousy service. "Look I said I was sorry why the hell won't you talk?" I asked one more time. Jason was beginning to annoy me. I hate when people won't just get to the point.20

"It's a long story…" Jason said. I shrugged.21

"Well I got time." I told him. Jason had a worried look on his face, and it was obvious something was bugging him. "What is it dude?" I said in a nicer tone.22

"I don't know. I gotta get back to work I'll tell you later." Jason said as he walked away. 23

Great two of my best friends were in a bad mood now. I hated it. I walked out of the diner and decided not to order anything. I walked home by myself. On the way home I didn't see anyone I wanted to hang out so I went straight home for once without being distracted by every little thing going on around me.24

When I walked in the door my mom and dad were both in the living room. It was surprising enough that they were together, but the fact that they weren't yelling was even more shocking. I wondered what was going on. My mom walked over to me. Something was wrong I could tell. I wasn't sure I wanted to find out what it was. 25
