Amanda was out exploring the town. Ever since they moved everything had
gone wrong. The apartment they were living in smelt of cigarettes. And
at night there were sounds of spray cans being sprayed on walls and beeping of car horns and shouting of people near by. 2

But Amanda had made some friends at here new school, Lauren and her brother Jay. About 6 months ago her mum and dad had split-up her dad
was staying in the outback and her mum and her had moved to the city.
Amanda walked along the winding path. That led to a alleyway, 3

At the end of the alleyway was a old brick house with graffiti all over the walls. Then she noticed another alleyway leading to a old gate, she ran to
it. Then she noticed a sign pinned to the gate KEEP OUT
“I wonder were it goes to?” Thought Amanda.4

Amanda ran back following the winding path up to the street again.
Then she ran up Thompsons avenue which lead to Lauren and Jay’s house.
She knocked on there door. Lauren opened the door “I found this 5

really cool place down a alleyway and there is a sign saying KEEP OUT.
“Should we take a look?” asked Amanda. “ok fine but won’t Jay have to come” Lauren asked “Jay can come he’s cool” said Amanda. “Are you
Talking about my brother?” Asked Lauren. “Yes and come on” said Amanda.6

And Lauren called Jay and they set of.
Soon they reached the gate, “Come on then” called Amanda “look I’m not
Sure we should climb over. “We might find something dangerous in there”
Lauren said with a chill, “She’s right Amanda” began Jay “if it says KEEP
OUT then we should KEEP OUT” 7

“But it would be fun to see what was behind it” said Amanda sadly,
“Ok fine but were not going into that house next ok” said Lauren pointing
to the first alleyway.
“It’s a deal then” said Amanda shaking Lauren’s hand. 8

So Amanda, Jay and Lauren jumped over the gate with a thud.
On the other side of the gate was a lovely white house that seemed to
glow really brightly. Then they noticed a flat garden with sponged grass9

At the bottom of the garden was a arch. “Let’s have a look” said
Amanda. Lauren, Amanda and Jay were all thinking the same thing
At that moment they had never seen such a nice house and garden10

In there whole lives. Was this bad or good? Amanda looked around
For anything watching them or lurking in the bushes. “It looks safe so fare”
Said Amanda. So they walked under the arch to the amazement. There11

Was a bridge ahead of the arch. The bridge was light brown made
From the lovely’s looking wood they had ever seen. They began
To walk across the bridge hoping there was no catch to this. 12

After they had walked along the bridge they got to a big wooden door.
“Let’s open it” said Lauren “you know in Harry Potter when they open
The door and there’s a two headed dog well maybe there’s something
Like that in there?” Said Jay, “this positive” said Amanda brightly.13

Then they opened the wooden door. 14

When they opened the door they saw a lovely garden it looked huge.
Amanda walked back in her disbelief. Was this a trick of her mind?
No it was not. Lauren and Jay were there to.15

“So you like my garden children?” said a voice. They all spun around
The voice was coming from a old woman who was wearing a straw hat
with flowers decorating the top of it. 16

“Who are you?” asked Amanda, still in disbelief. “I am the owner of this
garden” she said, “but who are you?”
asked Jay. “Well I am Mrs Kettleweather half pixie you know,” she said.
Then Mrs Kettleweather led them all into the garden. She smiled.17

“You’re probably wondering why I chose this place to live in,” she said.
“It’s the only place my secrets are safe.” “Secrets?” said Lauren.
“I don’t want other people to know about my findings of different
plants” said Mrs Kettleweather. 18

And she pointed to a couple of plants who all seemed to move from were they were, to some place else. There was one plant that seemed to
sing and one that made you sleepy. so many in such a big garden! 19

“Then why did you put the KEEP OUT sign on the gate?” asked Jay.
“Because I didn’t want people coming into my garden,” said
Mrs Kettleweather “Then why did you let us in?” asked Amanda.
“I knew you would be coming and I knew you had to come” said Mrs 20

Kettleweather with a smile.
“We’d better be off” said Lauren. “Bye, Mrs Kettleweather” they called
And they ran back to there homes.21

Amanda thought while she lay in bed, maybe this was all meant to happen for a reason maybe they’ll find out some day.22


7 yrs later23

Amanda was 19 and was living with her father in the outback. She would
visit her friends Lauren and Jay. And every Saturday she would
drive to Mrs Kettleweather’s house, to see her garden. She also visited
her mum who was at hospital fighting cancer.24

Mrs Kettleweather’s garden had a plant called Marandalo.
Which had been grown especially for Amanda.
This is the reason she found Mrs Kettleweather’s garden. Marandalo cured
Her mother. The doctors’ called it a miracle.
