Living in this town isn’t much but it’s something. It’s like everyday it’s the same routine. I wake up in this small house I’ve lived in since I was born, get ready to go to laurel High school, then there, I hold the reputation as the girl who is going to get out of this one way or another. I’m also considered popular but I don’t really care. 2

So this morning it was the same, but it felt like something was going to happen. I got out of my lavender bed and walked to my makeup table. I looked at the picture of my 6th birthday. It was me, my friend Martin, Sarah, and Danny. Martin Sarah and I are still close, but we haven’t heard from Danny since were 8 and that was the last summer he visited. I always wonder what he’s doing. We used to joke around as little kids and have play weddings, I would always marry Danny. I laughed to myself. 3

“Nikki!” my sister called. 4

“I’m awake!” I called back. I heard her footsteps walk away. I picked out my outfit for the day. It was a long sleeve navy blue Aeropostel shirt with normal jeans and Nikes. I brushed through my double layered long red-black dyed hair. Swiped my eyeliner on around my sparkling blue eyes that I use to get what I want. Grabbed my purse and waked out. 5

“Mom, can we please go shopping today!” my little sister was begging. 6

“Why do you always want to go shopping Kelly!” my mom said. This argument went on a lot. 7

“Kel, you can use some of my clothes if you like. Take whatever as long as I get it back” I said. Her face lit up. 8

“Thanks Nikki!” she called out and ran upstairs to my room. 9

“Thanks sweetie” my mom sighed. My mom is fairly young, mid 30’s. Her and my dad had me when they were still in high school. Then when I was 8 they had my little sister Kelly. Then when I was 14 they divorced and we barely see my dad. But my mom remarried a guy, I don’t really like him but my mom is happy. 10

“I better get going…bye mom” I said.11

“Oh but Joe can give you a ride!” she said. Joe is my step dad the one I was talking about.12
