Dialogue - for Simi's Short Story Class

'It's my party and I cry if I want to, cry if I want to,' Don sang along loudly, using the wooden spoon for a microphone. 1

He regretted he promised to prepare the turkey. He had not expected his best friends to drop in for a game of cards, but they did and now he was here in the kitchen and they were having fun. 2

'Oh well, I might as well get started and get it over with.' he mumbled to himself, while he started chopping the unions. 'You would cry too if it happened to youuuuu - and you were cutting onions!' 3

Don finished cutting the peppers and vegetables and was ready for his famous brutal attack on the turkey, when he got the shock of his life! He heard a gobble! 4

'Nah,' he told himself looking out of the window, 'that sound came from outside,' and turned back to the turkey.5

'Excuse me Sir! You're not seriously thinking of sticking that enormous sharp knife in my already cold body, are you?' the turkey gobbled. 6

Don was completely speechless and couldn't believe what he just heard, but the turkey continued!7

'I happen to have a wife and kids too you know. What were you thinking when you decided my pitiful life wasn't worth living and had to be sacrificed for your special saying thanks - day, counting all your blessings! What about my blessings? Who's going to gobble the kids to sleep tonight? Don't you have a heart? I do! You didn't take that out yet!'8

'Marthaaaaaaa,' Don yelled. 'Marthaaaa, this kitchen is haunted. This turkey talked to me! It's not dead... enough! Get your butt in here and see for yourself!'9

'What on earth is going on in here,' his wife asked with a surprised look on her face when she entered the kitchen. 'Let's see... it feels cold, its legs are chopped off as well as its head. No feathers. This turkey looks as dead as dead can be,' she said, hitting it with the wooden spoon. 'You however, look a little purple darling! Keep breathing please.'10

Martha started to worry somewhat and looked around the kitchen for something to sit on. Then a big smile appeared on her face.11

'I see you finished that second bottle of wine too! No wonder turkeys come to life!' she smiled and hugged her husband.

Quite entertaining, yet again. I liked this one, as well. And you still have that comma at the end of paragraph 10 that should be a period. Just a note.

    Otherwise, perfection.

    beginning: 3, language: 3, ending: 4.

you've got a comma at the end of 10 instead of a period. other than that it's pretty structurally sound. It's also very interesting. I'd have liked it if you had have added more to the "turkey" but it still flows well as it is. Thanks for the smile

Thank you for your always kind words Raven V Scarlett. Yes, I could have made this a longer write, but it was one of the "in between" assignments and not supposed to be a complete short story. Thanks girl, your words are always highly appreciated.

    Great job.

Thanks. I really needed a laugh right now. But I do think you could have written a little more, cause I enjoyed it and I wanted something longer to read and laugh about. Anyway, great job Munda.
