“Oh no. No, not now.”1
The rock slipped. As it did the hands that gripped it began to slip. 2
“Kristin are you there? I need you”3
Her voice was edged in fear and desperation. The Cliff face that held her, just, gasping for her life, was so large and empowering; giving those daring mortals the desire to jump. Just as she had done. 4
“Tarnie? Where are you sis? Kristin and KC are in the car already”5
It was Mack, her brother. She could see his side profile up above her. “Mack, help, my hands are slipping,” she groaned in sheer agony as more rocks fell past her head. “What the hell happened?” he called, falling to his stomach and reaching out for her. The space between them seemed like a metres to Tarnie. “I slipped,” she gasped as pain grew in her side. If only she could get some footholds. “Okay. Wait up I’ll get Kris and KC” and he was gone. The midday sun was blaring on her back. “I shouldn’t have worn a singlet top and short shorts, black as well. Even if they are sexier.” She murmered to herself. Her skin felt like bread in a toaster. The cliff face pinched the blistery skin of her hands. Her hands slipped again, rocks fell around her face, pebbles and dirt dusted her eyelashes. 6
“Hey gorgeous, you’re looking a bit on edge there”7
“Kristin stop it, pull her up before she falls. Are you okay Tarnie?” 8
“Fine KC. Just… you know hanging around” 9
Kristin laughed, a low husky growl that warmed her heart. “I’m actually feeling a little sore Kris.” She groaned. Kristin sighed dramatically. “Oh all right” he dropped on his stomach and reached for her hand. His hands, being longer, stronger and not to forget, sexier than Mack’s; were able to pull her up. Although she scraped herself along the sharp rocks as she rose. It was sweet relief to be on the ground again, in Kristin’s arms, his kisses on her damp blonde hair, betraying his concern. “I’m glad you didn’t fall Tarnie, I would have missed you painfully.” He whispered watching her intensely. She smiled softly, and winced. “you okay?” he murmered, she nodded, “just a few scrapes and bruises”10
“I’ll kiss them away, later.” He winked she smiled her heart filling with joy. 11
Maybe... maybe I'll be okay.
