Lost Moonlight Chapter 1

I sat up with a jolt, only to feel as if I was hit by a truck. My vision blackened and my head swam as I fell back into a comfortable softness. My body ached all over, and I waited patiently for my vision to return. above me was a ceiling. I blinked slowly a few times, my head groggily trying to understand what was going on. What was this comfortable softness, and why was there a ceiling before my eyes? Last thing I remember was...I groaned and held my head, a blurry memory flashing before my eyes.1

"Dad! I think he's awake!" A young woman's voice called out. 2

I instinctively jerked away from the direction of the voice, looking for who it had come from. My eyes rested on a slim figure, a stunningly beautiful young girl who had an air of excitement about her. It almost made me smile just being in her presence.3

A man appeared in the doorway behind her. He was thick around the waist, a burly bear like man with a rough brown beard that covered his face. 4

"Ah so he is!" His gravely voice boomed. "I'm glad to see you alive boy." He smiled a big grin. His eyes gleamed under heavy brows.5

Confusion was apparent on my face as I stared at the two with a bewildered and slightly wild gaze. I tried to speak but nothing came out. My throat was so dry, it made me wonder why I hadn't noticed before. I was slowly becoming more aware of myself and my surroundings.6

"W-water" I rasped out softly putting a hand to my throat.7

The girl walked towards me as if eager to be close to me and grabbed a cup that had been sitting near me the entire time that I had been completely oblivious to. She held it out for me, but I didn't particularly care anymore. All I could look at was her face. She was gorgeous, even more so up close. 8

She stared down at me with beautiful swirling brown eyes. Something about them were unnatural but I couldn't put my finger on it. She had a light pink cheeks and soft rose red lips. Her smile only showed straight white teeth and enhanced the rest of her beauty.9

I took the cup slowly, while she only smiled softly in a comforting way. I looked away to stare into the cup, taking a long drink of the cool water. Wiping any of the remaining liquid from my face with the back of my hand I looked back at the girl.10

"Thank you..." I said softly. My voice was somewhat deep and it shocked me to hear it. It almost seemed like it had come from a different person. "Where... Where am I?"11

The robust man who had stood there so quietly for a long while now chuckled. "Your in my home boy." He said in his thundering voice. "and I am Isaac. That young beauty there is my Daughter, Bella." 12

She smiled her angelic smile again. "What's your name?" She asked politely, her voice sweet as honey. 13

"My name?" I asked quietly, confused. Something stirred in me but for some reason I was lost, unsure of what they meant. "M-my name is... Uah!" I groaned, holding my head again and grinding my teeth as shreds of images flashed before my eyes for the second time.14

"Who am I?" I whined softly. 15

The girl looked away at her father with worried eyes. He said something in response and she hurried out.16

"Boy." He said softly. "Do you remember anything?" He questioned.17

I looked up into his broad face and saw the intensity in his Dark brown orbs. 18

"No..." I croaked in reply. I muffled another moan as more torn images appeared only to dissipate just as quick. Blood, a tree, the moon, random images that didn't make sense.19

The man frowned, a grumbling sigh emanating from his chest as a puzzled look seemed to appear on his face. "Listen close. I found you in the woods two nights ago just after sunrise. You were lying there motionless, covered in wounds and blood. I thought you dead for a moment, but saw that you were still breathing. So I brought you back. Of course, with your wounds I wasn't sure you'd live anyhow." 20

As he spoke more things came back to me. Moments of unconsciousness where I was aware that I was being moved, moments where someone was putting something cool to my forehead. I trembled slightly and looked down at my own hands.21

"It's amazing really." Isaac said in a moment of thought.22

"What is?" I asked in confusion.23

"Well. By all rights you should be dead. I've never seen someone as beat up as you were, but here you are, alive and from the looks of it near fully recovered in no more than 3 days." He chuckled again, seemingly cheery.24

I looked down at myself and saw that he was right. I didn't look injured at all. I tossed aside the blankets. Bandages were wrapped around my chest and stomach. The only clothes I wore were what seemed like they used to be pants that were torn high up both my thighs. 25

A soft knock came at the door and Bella entered as I covered myself up again, slightly embarrassed to be seen like that by her. I couldn't understand why though when I barely new her. In her arms were a somewhat large pile of clothes.26

"Thank you Bella." Isaac said warmly, taking the clothes and setting them on the bed. "Here boy. These are some of my older clothes. they might still be a bit big but no worries." He laughed his booming laugh and stepped out, bringing Bella with him who glanced back at me over her shoulder as she closed the door.27

I stared at the pile of clothes that rested at the edge of the bed. Sliding out from beneath the blankets I stood on up. The wood floor creaked slightly under my weight. It was cool and rough against the bottom of my bare feet. I wiggled my toes a bit and stretched out, joints and muscles aching from days of disuse. 28

Steadily, I began to remove the bandages, placing them on the floor. My body seemed fine, practically unharmed as I looked it over. I stripped, quickly putting on the clothes that had been lying on the edge of the bed. He was right, they were to big. I was taller than him by a bit, but in girth he had me beaten out.
The clothes were to baggy, but just about right in length. 29

As I buttoned the last few buttons of the flannel shirt a knock came at the door. "Are you okay?" Bella's soft voice called out.30

"Ya, I'm dressed" I responded in my own deep tone.31

She cracked the door and peeked in. When she confirmed that I was decent she walked in. "My father said to give you this." She smiled softly, holding out a belt.32

"Thanks." I replied in monotone. I took the belt, using it to hold up the pants I had been given. "These were to big." I said softly, my gaze falling on the floor. I couldn't look her directly in the eye without fidgeting.33

She giggled at me, staring at me with those big brown irises. I couldn't help but feel unnerved as that beautiful girl watched me. "Umm, where is this?"34
