The Tiger-Bandits were playing out in the field, and the Tsunamis, (the actual Tsunamis!), were batting. Jenny watched in amazement as the pitcher pitched the ball and struck someone out. 1
The next person stepped up to bat and the crowd fell silent. The pitcher wound his arm and pitched. WOMP!2
"Steeeeeeeeeerike 1!" cried the umpire.3
The pitcher wound again, and pitched. WOMP!4
"Steeeeeeerike 2!" 5
Jenny gasped in amazement, and the pitcher pitched again. WOMP!6
"Steeeeerike 3! Yourrrr-"7
The umpire was interrupted. The pitcher had fallen onto the mound, holding his shoulder and crying in pain. Everyone ran from the field to his side, and a few minuets later the EMTs took him off the field. The coach and the catcher walked back towards the dug out.8
"A dislocated shoulder, a torn tendon! Now where am I going to get a good pitcher? He was the best and the only one we had!!!"9
Jenny tried to get a closer look, by leaning over the bench.10
"We may have to forfeit the ga-"11
Jenny lost her balance and flipped over the bench, landing on her back with an "Oomph!"12
Both the catcher and the coach stared at her. The catcher smiled.13
"No! No way! There is no way i'm putting a little kid in as a pitcher!"14
The catcher bent down. 15
"Come on coach, give her a break."16
He took off her cap and looked into her big blue eyes.17
"How old are you kid?"18
Jenny held up four fingers. The coach groaned.19
"Here."20
The catcher gave Jenny a ball and glove, then backed away, and knelt down.21
"Throw the ball to me."22
Jenny remembered watching the pitcher pitch the ball. She put the ball in her glove, keeping her right hand on it. She brought her left leg up, did one hop on her right leg, set her left down, brought her right arm back, then forwards, releasing the ball.23
The ball was a blur as it went straight to the catcher's glove.24
Both the coach and the catcher were shocked.25
"GIVE THIS KID A BETTER UNIFORM AND A PLACE ON THE PITCHER'S MOUND! SHE'S PLAYING THE BOTTOM OF THE NINTH FOR US!" cried the coach.26
Jenny cracked a smile. The better uniform was bigger on her, even though it was a extra small. The pants covered her shoes, and gathered around there. The sleeves had to be rolled up, and her cap still covered her eyes.27
The coach lifted her out of the dug out and sent her to the pitchers mound.28
"WHAT'S THIS?" cried the announcer, "THE TIGER-BANDITS SEEM TO BE SENDING OUT A FOUR YEAR OLD TO THE PITCHERS MOUND! THIS DOESN'T LOOK GOOD FOR THE TIGER BANDITS, WHO COULD LOSE IF THEY DON'T KEEP THE TSUNAMIS FROM SCORING! The current score is 9 to 8."29
The Tsunamis were laughing hysterically as their first batter of the inning walked up to the plate. The booing crowed quieted down as the umpire called, 30
"play ball!" 31
The catcher gave Jenny the signal, which she recognized right away. Jenny did the same thing she had done in the dug out. The ball zoomed past the guy and the umpire called 32
"Steeeeeerike one!" 33
The crowed muttered thoughtfully. Jenny pitched again.34
"Steeeeeeeike 2!"35
And again.36
"Steeeeeerike 3! Yourrrrrrr out!"37
The crowed stood on their feet and roared.38
"AND THAT PITCH WAS CLOCKED AT A NEW WORLD RECORD OF 235 MIIIILES PER HOUR! AMAZING!"39
The crowed settled down as the second batter took his place.40
"Hey kid!" He sneered, "You mind slowing this one down?"41
Jenny tipped her head back and flashed him her blue eyes, the nodded. Jenny pitched the ball. Again it zoomed right pasted the batter. 42
"Steeeeerike 1!"43
"241 MILES PER HOUR!"44
Jenny pitched again.45
"Steeeeeeeerike 2!"46
"249 MILES PER HOUR! THIS GIRL'S ON FIRE!"47
"Hey! I said slow down the ball, not speed the freaken thing up!" cried the batter.48
Jenny nodded and pitched again.49
"Steeeeeerike 3! Yourrrrr out!"50
"255 MILES PER HOUR! MAYBE THE TIGER-BANDITS COULD CLINCH THE 2,000 JAPAN SECTIONALS WIN AFTER ALL!"51
The next batter came up to bat. Jenny gasped at him. He was the same guy who hit the ball over the ball over the fence in the game Jenny had seen.52
Jenny cliched her teeth and pitched the fastest ball she could. 53
CRACK! The ball went flying. 54
Jenny gasped and tipped her head back. She turned around and watched as the outfielders tried to catched it, but piled up. The basemen tried, but piled up on top of the outfielders. Jenny ran, spirited up the pile of her teammates, pulled her hat off, and in the nic of time, caught the ball in her hat.55
The crowed cheered.56
"AND THAT'S ALL FOLKS! THE TIGER-BANDITS WIN THE TITLE OVER THE FIERCE TSUNAMIS! ALL THANKS TO THE LAST MINUET HELP OF THE STAR PITCHERRRRRRRRRR!" 57
The team untangled themselves and and the catcher ran over and put Jenny on his shoulder. The crowed roared and Jenny waved. the team gave her an autographed game ball, and went over to the dug out to get a team picture. 58
The coach slapped her on the shoulder and said,59
"You got a heck of a good career ahead of ya, kid."60
The catcher knelt down beside her and said.61
"Next season or any season, you can come back and pitch again. Just ask them to see me, Adam."62
Jenny cracked a smile and Adam put her back on his shoulder. They got with the rest of the team. The photographer said.63
"Smile!" 64
CLICK!65
(*Return to normal time*)66
"...And so, long story short, I pitched for the Tiger-Bandits, and helped them win."67
There was silence in the room. Everyone was too shocked to say anything. Jenny put the lid on the box with everything in it.68
"Any questions?"69
No answer.70
"Didn't think so."71
Jenny stood up and walked back to her room, her brothers gazes following her. She put the box back under the bottom bunk of her bed, but not before tapping the team picture to the box lid.72
"Someday....someday.....the star pitcher will return. You just watched." Jenny said to herself.
