I told you we should have used my car! - CH 2

When they got back upstairs, they decided to have a drink and something to eat. The boys got some beers, while the girls rustled up some food. They sat at a booth in the window, so they could see if anyone came along. For a while no one spoke as they drank and ate. Then Rachael was teased some more about her Vampire comments, until she reluctantly agreed she was probably being silly. Having eaten, they decided to explore the other unlocked building. 1

Taking their beers with them, they headed over. It was a small hotel, as sign at the door, informing them it had 8 rooms. Deciding to start upstairs they looked in all 8 bedrooms first. They were all clean and tidy, with everything you would expect to find. Back on the ground floor, they searched the kitchens, store rooms, everywhere, until the only place left was reception. 2

Lauren, went behind the reception desk and tried the phone, no good. She looked in the hotel register, there was one entry.3

‘Have you found anything?’ called out Tom.4

‘Nothing’ she replied, ‘Although there is an entry in the register. A Mr or Mrs A. Lucard’5

Rachael joined her at the desk, looking over her shoulder. As she read, she went white and nearly fell over.6

‘What’s wrong’, asked Lauren.7

‘Look at the name’ gasped Rachael.8

‘I have, there is nothing special about it’9

‘Yes there is. Look what it spells backwards – Dracula’10

Even Lauren went quiet as she realized what Rachael was saying. The boys came over and looked. They continued to tease the girls, before they all sat down in the lounge area.11

They decided that as it was getting dark and as the car was playing up, to stay the night. The boys went and got the stuff from the car and took it up to two of the rooms. Then after another meal in the diner, they returned to reception with some beers and played some silly games.12

They soon got fed up and each couple started to make out. As Graham tried to remove Lauren’s top, she suggested they go upstairs. Leaving the other two behind they went to their room. Rachael and Tom stayed behind. They were both soon naked, excited by being in a ‘public’ area. After they had finished, they both fell asleep in each others arms. Tom woke first, feeling cold, so having woke Rachael, they picked up their clothes and went up to their room. Once on the landing, they saw the door to their friend’s room was still open. ‘Perhaps they decided to change rooms’ whispered Rachael. But as they passed, they noticed all their stuff still in there. Slightly worried they got dressed and then searched all the bedrooms, finding no trace of their friends.13

‘Where are they’ asked a worried Lauren. Tom had no idea and just shrugged his shoulders, now as worried as Lauren.14

‘Should we look for them or stay here or get help’15

‘We can’t get help, Rachael has the keys’ said Tom16

‘I told you we should have used my car’ said Rachael, ruefully.17

Tom looked at her, but did not say anything.18

They were about to go and look for them when they heard a loud howl. ‘Wolves’ said Tom nervously. They held onto each other, trying to decide the best course of action. There was more howling, this time closer and accompanied by shuffling sounds in the street outside. By unspoken agreement they got on the bed and lay down, in each other’s arms. They did sleep a little as dawn slowly approached. Each waking moment was accompanied by more wolves howling.19

When day light finally arrived they got up and cautiously left the hotel. Dreading what they would find. Looking around and were surprised to see the car with the hood up and three people standing there. Recognising two of them as Tom and Rachael they ran over. The next few minutes consisted of everyone shouting at each other as anger gradually dissolved into relief that all were OK.20

It soon transpired that Tom and Rachael had gone over to the diner for another snack. Once there the wolves had started up and they could not get back, so had spent the night there. Once it was light they had come out to the car, to find Bob. Bob worked for a film company and had come out to collect something from the film set they were all on. He had just managed to sort the problem with the car out. They all thanked Bob for his help and after hugging each other with relief they went for some breakfast. Once finished, they got all their stuff back in the car and started to drive off.21

‘You OK, Rachael’ asked Lauren, ‘You look a bit pale’22

‘I’m just tired’ replied Rachael, ‘I did not sleep a lot last night’. As she said this she rubbed her neck, again feeling the two small marks, about 1.5” apart. She removed her hand again noting the blood on her fingers. 23

They all got in the car and drove off. As they left, no one turned round, as they were glad to be leaving. So no one noticed the curtains at the windows of the diner move as 2 blood red eyes watched them go. Nor did they see the evil smile slowly form as it let go of the curtain and returned to the cellar.24
