“You’ve been crying.” Jett says with out looking up.2
“So?” I ask indignantly.3
“I’m sorry.” He whispers.4
“Sorry for what?” I ask.5
“That all this happened to you.” He says softly.6
“It’s not you’re fault, so don’t be sorry.” I say crossly.7
Within seconds he was standing up with both hands on my shoulders and his forehead resting against mine.8
“It’s called sympathy, learn to accept it.” He says staring directly into my eyes.9
I close my eyes breaking the eye contact and he leans in creating lip contact. I blush and stumble back, shaken by his sudden action. I stare at him in surprise unable to process the why and how of what had just happened and slowly his casual smile turns into a full on laughing fit. 10
“Oh my God, you are insane!” I say before sinking to the ground laughing my butt off.11
“How so?” he asks with only a small hint of laughter left in his voice.12
“First off, you kissed me after we’ve known each other for what, maybe 2 hours, second, you’re totally bipolar and moody, and third you’re the most human person I’ve ever met and you’re not even human.” I say softly.13
“Actually, I am human, more human than any one you have ever met, you know my father, but my mother, I’m sure you’ve heard of her.” He says.14
“Who is she?” I ask.15
“You call her Satan, her real name is Lucifer, or Luci for short.” He says barely above a whisper.16
“Well that made the world make more sense.” I say.17
“Really?” he asks curiously.18
“Yep, Satan being a woman, it just makes sense now.” I say.19
“And you don’t think it’s strange or that I’m evil because my mother is Lucifer, and archangel who got cast out of heaven?” he asks cautiously.20
“It’s not your fault, you didn’t choose your parents, besides, you can’t be evil, you’re human and we are neither good nor evil.” I say21
“Are you a mini theologian now?” he asks with a laugh.22
“No but I’m very strong in my faith and I…” that was all I could get out before a man in white robes, with scraggly brown hair and matching beard appeared in front of us. Jett glared at the man and I was too surprised to do anything but gape.23
“What are you doing here?” Jett hisses through clenched teeth.24
“Father Dearest sent me to see how well you two were doing.” He says uninterestedly.25
“We’re working on plan so go ahead and run along.” I say dismissively.26
“How can you speak to me like that?” he asks horrified by my rudeness and Jett snickers under his breath.27
“A) I don’t know you,
I don’t care to, and C) you rudely interrupted my conversation.” I say agitatedly.28“You don’t know who I am? Like seriously?” he asks.29
“I’m going to assume by the fact that you think I’m supposed to know who you are and by Jett’s growling that you’re Jesus, but if I’m wrong then please do enlighten me.” I say sarcastically.30
“Um yeah.” He says obviously taken aback by my disinterest in him.31
“Then shoo, we don’t need anyone hovering over us at the moment, but if we do, I’m sure you’ll be the first one we call.” I say mockingly cheerful.32
Jesus blinks at me and then just like that he was gone again. Jett starts laughing again and I smile smugly to myself. 33
“Amy, I honestly think you are the most amazing person ever, just for that display.” Jett says once he had stopped laughing.34
“Eh, I do stuff like that all the time.” I say.35
“But not to Jesus.” He says with a grin.36
“True, true.” I say with a laugh.37
“Well I think we should actually start working on a plan to get this world going again.” He says.38
“Ok.” I say with a sigh.39
“I know, not fun but it has to be done.” He says.40
“So, what do we actually need to do?” I ask.41
“We need to make animals and fix the plants.” He says.42
“Well that sounds easy enough, but how do we make animals?” I ask.43
I watch as he takes a handful of soft dirt and starts molding it into a shape. When he’s finished it looks like a diseased giraffe but nonetheless he blows into the nostrils of the dirt figure and sets it down. I watch for a moment, amazed but nothing happens so I glance at Jett and he has a secret little smile tucked in the corner of his lips. Slowly the dirt figure begins to grow and change into a non-diseased looking horse. It gallops away and I stare at Jett with disbelief.44
“Like that.” He says with a grin.45
“Well that’s one poor lonely horse but it’ll take forever to make figures of all the animals.” I say.46
“That was an example, technically, and to indirectly quote the bible all I have to do is say ‘Let the waters bring forth swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the firmament of the heavens. Be fruitful and multiply and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth. Let the earth bring forth living creatures according to their kinds: cattle and creeping things and beasts of the earth according to their kinds.’” He says while dramatically lifting his hands above him and it was so I smack my forehead and he grins at me.47
“What about the plants?” I ask.48
“Let the vegetation become as it was.” He says and it happened.49
“And there was evening and morning the first day.” I say sarcastically.50
“No, it’s more like afternoon and evening, because we weren’t here in the morning.” He says with a grin.51
“Technicalities.” I say with a dismissive wave and he laughs.52
“What do we do now?” I ask.53
“Um... we’re supposed to create more humans but I don’t think we should get into that just yet.” He says awkwardly.54
“Wait, we can’t just make more humans like out of dirt?” I ask taken aback.55
“If it was that easy God would have just done it himself.” He says obviously irritated with his father.56
I make a face in displeasure of the concept, well not the concept of the action more disgust towards the fact that I was being forced to repopulate the earth.57
“Exactly.” He says with a laugh. 58
I yawn, my brain and body finally connecting the lack of sleep and mental exhaustion together. He sits against a tree and glances at me for just a moment but the beckoning in his eyes was clear. I sit down with my back against him and he gently wraps his arm around my waist. It surprised me how natural and normal I felt to be with him like this. I fall asleep listening to the pattern of his breathing and his heart beat, it was so soothing in fact, that sleep came to me almost instantly.
