The Adventures of Yup Yup 1

Yup Yup is a small Siberian husky/wolf hybrid that was born on July 13, 2005.  She was the runt in a litter of five.  Whether she knew it or not, her life had already been mapped out for her before she was even born.  Yup Yup would come to be known by many names:  "Szievesen" was her formal name, given to her at birth.  "Yup Yup", which is her current nickname, was given to her because she would frequently cry, "Yup Yup Yup Yup Yup Yup Yup Yup" when going through crate training.  She was also known as "Puppy".  She was called this because she was a puppy.  My wife and I would call her to come inside by yelling, "Puppy, Puppy" in a high pitched tone.  She was also known as "Scratch and Piss".  She was given this name during the potty training period.  Once she realized that she would receive a treat for going to the bathroom outdoors, she began to scratch on the door and instinctively piss outside every five minutes.  Hence, the name, "Scratch and Piss" was born.1

Now four months old, Yup Yup has conquered many great feats.  She has gained the ability to jump on top of the couch and other furniture, much to the chagrin of her adopted human parents.  She now has the ability to sleep throughout the night.  She has managed to be big enough and strong enough to rough-house with her big sister, without becoming injured.  And, she's gained the ability to run like the wind.  She has also mastered the art of begging for food.  "Who could resist such a cute face?" Yup Yup would say with her eyes, as you enjoyed your meal.  She's conquered potty training, so long as someone is around to frequently let her out into the yard.  She no longer defecates in her crate at night!  She has more than doubled in size since arriving in our home.  If I were a tattoo artist, I would tattoo a giant "S" on her chest.  She has become "Super Yup Yup".  Do not be fooled by the fish in the background:  I assure you, Yup Yup is a dog.2

Now, back to our original story:  We decided we wanted a wolf dog approximately six months ago.  I asked my wife to do the research because she liked spending time on the internet a lot more than I did.  It didn't take long before she was calling me to take a look.  She found what she thought was the perfect breeder in North Carolina.  It looked promising.  The place had a number of dogs who had recently been mated.  After we had the opportunity to look at all of them, we decided to move forward.  My wife contacted the breeder and let her know we were interested.  From there, we paid a deposit and waited the two months for the babies to be born.  Now, I guess, it is important to say that we already had a Siberian husky.  Our desire was to find a wolf dog that had similar markings.  Yes, we wanted one with Wolfie characteristics, but we wanted it to look like a Husky because we didn't want to have nosy neighbors asking too many questions!  So, in looking at all the parents, we decided on a mother who was a full blooded, papered, Siberian husky and a dad who was 75% tundra wolf and 25% Siberian husky.  Both parents looked exceptionally healthy.  In July, after several emails and several phone calls, we finally got our birth announcement.  The mother had five dogs, and we would have the pick of the litter!  We chose our dog because of her amber eyes.  There was a puppy with blue eyes, but she would have cost more.  The other three had bi-eyes (where one eye is a different color than the other); so, by process of elimination, we had chosen the lightest grey pup of the back with striking amber eyes and what looked like a very cute personality.  Of course, even though we had chosen our puppy, we would have to continue to wait.  The baby couldn't leave her mother till she was eight weeks old.  So, the emails started again between my wife and the breeder.  We wanted to know as much as we could about owning a wolf dog and introducing her to the pack, which was us and our four other dogs -- Natasha, Murphy, Logan, and Phina.  This new puppy would be in for quite an adventure when she met our 'family'.  At the end of August, her flight was scheduled.  She would arrive at a local airport at 10am after a five hour flight.  On August 31st, my wife made the drive to the airport alone to pick up our newest baby.3

After arriving home, Yup Yup would struggle to find her place in the pack.  The pack was led by the Alpha male, Logan, a four year old pit-bull.  His nickname was Doo Doo.  The alpha female at the time was Yup Yup's big sister, Natasha, also known as Tashie Tashie.  The beta pair consisted of a male rottweiler named Murphy, whose nickname was Ruphym, and a hound mutt named Murphina, but her nickname became Phina Phina Phina.  If Yup Yup had only known, one day she and her four siblings would form the greatest rock band in the history of rock and roll:  they would be known as Doo Doo and the Crappers.  Perhaps you've heard their hit song -- Poo Poo Poo, I'm going to Poo on you?  I can't discuss this song any further because we are currently pursuing legal action against Dave Chappelle for the similarities between our song and his -- Piss on You.4

When the fantastic five aren't recording an album or practicing, they typically spend their days licking their genitalia and sleeping on the couch.  They also enjoy playing football, which greatly pleases their father because he is a fanatical, maniacal Jets fan.  J - E - T - S.  Jets Jets Jets.  Due to the fact that the Jets currently suck this season, I would rather watch my dogs play football in the back yard.5

PLEASE STAY TUNED, EVERYONE.... As the adventures of Yup Yup shall continue.6

This was only a part of a story, so I can't judge much. I am horrified at the concept of having a fleet of dangerous dogs! And I find the euphemistic phrase of a dog "going to the bathroom" doubly disconcerting. Hope it all doesn't end in tears.

nice job , This is a very beautiful and wonderful story, one of this best I have read all week that was posted in the feature section. I totally agree with all the comments before mine, this is truly a excellent poem. The imagery was strong and very vivid and the flow was smooth from start to finish. I love the emotion put into this piece it really lets the readers mind just kinda wonder and set up the scene in there mind. Excellent job
