Chapter 21

(two minuites later)2

“Thank you four for coming you four. You are not here because you are in trouble; you are here to help your selves, and all of your fellow students.”3

“What the hell is that supposed to mean?” asked Sammy.4

“What that is supposed to mean,” said headmaster Riot, obviously offended by Sammy’s choice of words, “is that all of your lives are in danger.”5

“What?!” they all replied in unison.6

“You all know how your parents died, don’t you?”7

“…N…No…” said Alice.8

“Here we go again… Three years ago, there was a man… actually he was a mutant like you. Anyways, he had this control thing where he had to be in charge of anything he was associated with, and therefore wanted to control all of everything, and knew that any mutants, like your parents, would get in his way. This mans name was Hemet Methias.”9

“That’s the name my mom screamed right before she died!” said Alice, shocked.10

“Yes. That’s quite possible. As you know, I am not a mutant and neither are any of the staff members here, because we would have been dead. That is why there are no more mutants in our generation. We all knew your parents and held them very deeply in our hearts, and this is why we are trying to help you. Do all of you know how your specific powers came about?” he asked. None of them did. All they knew was that they had them.11

“Sammy, your ability to liquefy yourself comes from the fact that you were around some kind of liquid in the moment that your parents died. And Victoria, your ability to change into any animal you want is because you were around so many animals at the time your parents died. Now, any time you see a new animal, you will be able to change into it. Phillip, you can light yourself on fire because of the high temperature at the time that your parents died. Alice… You… No one is quite sure where your powers came from, but we do know that you are the most powerful among us. You four were chosen for this assignment because you have the ability to use your powers to your greatest advantage.”12

Alice was speechless, for she was still in shock.13

"So that's how it happened! I always thought that it was just a coincidence!" said Sammy.14

"From now on there is no such thing as a coincidence. Everything happens for a reason."15

"Wait... Why were we picked?" asked Victoria with a great excitment. She had never thought that she would have been one of the most powerfull girls in the school.16

"Don't you get it you guys! We're not just mutants... We're heroes..." Phil said with a hidden excitment.17

"Super heroes." said the headmaster18

“What is the assignment?” asked Sammy impatiently.19

“Hemet Methias is still alive and well.  His whereabouts are unknown, but he has a machine that needs to be deactivated ASAP because this is what will bring you all to certain doom. There are four different gems around the world somewhere, and those are what will deactivate it.”20

“How will we know what the gems look like?” asked Victoria.21

“Well, they are all four disguised as household or commonly seen items, and…”22

“How are we supposed to know where they are then?” asked Victoria.23

“I was getting to that!  This is Morris Johnson, also known as, Mojo. He is an informational, technological, and logical super genius. From now on, he will be your best friend.”24

“Hello” said Mojo in his whiny, high pitched, geeky voice. They all waved at him reluctantly. He was short and chubby, but not fat. He had very dark hair and glasses that made him look like a genius. He also had a very bad case of acne. He almost looked like a melon with eyes.25

“He will not go with you, because you will be in four different places, but he will be in your ear at all times. Here are your ear pieces. This will be your main means of contact between me and Mojo. You can take them out of your ear and use them as a projection device. This will be our means of showing you detailed maps and images of things that you will need to know about. There is a map of the school programed into them right now! That was just the test map."26

They all took their ear pieces and displayed the maps. They had never seen anything like it before. Even though the projection was only green, it looked almost real enough to touch. There were no flaws in this system.27

'Super heroes' was the only thing that Philip could think28

“You guys… This… is… so… KICK ASS!” yelled Sammy.29
