My Opinion

Honestly, the main thing I can think of to say, given this topic of revoking the gay marriage amendments, is why give someone the right to be happy, just to snatch it back from them? Why would you dangle the glimmer of happiness in front of a group of people, and then remove even a glimpse of this hope?1

Personally, I do not see how the right for gay people to marry would affect anyone who is not gay. If I were, for example, to marry another woman, how would it affect anyone who is not involved with my life and the life of the one who I am marrying? If I were to marry a man, no one besides maybe my family would even attempt to stop me. Yet the thought of two men or two women who are in love getting married disgusts people. This makes no sense to me.2

People use the argument that first it'll be gay marriage, then incest, then marriage to animals. This has nothing to do with anything. People also said that if you allow blacks to marry whites, there would also be the same things following. This never happened, and there are now many interracial couples. Why is gay marriage any different?3

By saying this, I am not saying that all people should be gay. Many people are suggesting that there is a "gay agenda" which is to "convert" all people to turning gay. No one "turns" gay. People are born gay, bisexual, transsexual, or straight. There is no "becoming" anything in this. If someone is straight, fine. There is no "turning them gay." The only thing that anyone is asking for is the right to be just as happy as anyone else, and to be given the same rights as any other person. 4

This has affected my life personally. My neighbor's daughter, let's call her A, is a lesbian. Her girlfriend, I'll call her B, underwent in vitro fertilization in order to become pregnant. The two women wanted to spend their lives together. A year later, when their daughter was about six months old, B started physically abusing A. A left, and tried to still get to see her daughter. But, in Florida, there is no rights given to the non-biological parent. A has not seen her daughter since she left her abusive girlfriend. This is terrible. Both women were mothers to that baby, yet B is the only one with legal rights. I am honestly worried about what will happen to that child, since clearly the one mother she has was abusive to her girlfriend, the supposed love of her life. Who's to say she wont "snap" again and hurt the baby? Had they have been allowed to marry, that child would be allowed to have A as a mother, not just B, and she could be safer.5

I really don't see what there is to debate about. The honest question is, do we allow the government to revoke peoples' happiness? I think not. What is next? Revoking the right for interracial couples to marry? Go back to the Puritan days when one race, one gender, one religion is superior to the rest? By revoking homosexual couples' right to marry, the government is removing even more rights from the people. Why grant a right only to take it away again?6

This was very clear, you got straight to your point. I also feel like your rant holds more weight as you have personal experience in this matter.

    Very Interesting

God gave us free will, I don't think the goverment should talke that. Gay people were born that way because of some chemical inbalance,I am sure they would rather not have been born that way. I do not approve of gay marriage but who am I to judge.

Exactly. And it is no one's fault. So why should anyone be punished for what they cannot help?
