What A Life - [S1 E5: Halloween]

“Do you still believe in those stuffs?” Emma asked Regina as they walked into the coffeehouse. Aaron, Kevin, Ryan and Cassie were already there.1

“What stuff?” Kevin asked.2

“Ghosts and witches roaming around the earth on Halloween,” Emma rolled her eyes.3

“We’re having a Halloween party tonight at my apartment.” Regina said. “Who’s in?”4

“I’m in.” Kevin said.5

“I’m in.” Aaron said.6

“Me too.” Ryan said.7

“Okay, but it’s a costume party.” Cassie said.8

“I’m out.” Kevin said.9

“I’m out.” Aaron said.10

“Me too.” Ryan said.11

“Why? C’mon guys, it will be fun.” Regina said.12

“I hate dressing up.” Kevin complained.13

“Yeah,” Aaron and Ryan agreed.14

“Okay, do you have anything else better to do then?” Emma said.15

“No.” the three boys said in unison.16

“Great! The party starts at 8:30pm.” Regina declared.17

“Okay, can I bring a date?” Ryan asked.18

“Sure, but only if your date is wearing a costume too.”19

“A date?” Emma chuckled uneasily. “Are you… are you seeing someone?”20

“Yeah, I bumped into this girl at the bar few days ago.” Ryan explained. “We’re having a great time.”21

Emma felt a twinge of jealousy come over her.22

“Hey, Aaron, I’ve gotta ask you something.” Cassie tried to change the subject as she saw Emma’s mood change.23

“Sure,” Aaron said sipping his coffee.24

“What were you doing at the porn shop yesterday?” Cassie asked.25

“What…?” Aaron nearly threw up. “What did you just say?” He frowned at Cassie.26

“I can’t believe this!” Kevin gasped. “I was helping my dad wash his Porsche and you were watching porn and getting it off?”27

“No I wasn’t!” Aaron replied. “Cassie, what are you talking about?”28

“Yeah, I saw you coming out of there, yesterday afternoon.” Cassie explained. “I called to you, but you didn’t respond.”29

“You must be mistaken.”30

“No, I’m really sure it was you.” Cassie insisted. “You were wearing a black shirt with the letter ‘D’ on it and a bandana on your head.”31

“What? I don’t even wear a bandan…” Aaron trailed off and his expression changed. “Oh yeah, you must have seen Daniel!”32

“Who the hell is Daniel?”33

“His twin brother,” Regina answered.34

“What? You have a twin?”35

“Yeah,” Aaron said. “God, I hate him. He’s such a pain in the ass.”36

“Why?” Ryan asked.37

“Okay, Ryan. You have a brother, don’t you?” Aaron asked.38

“Yeah!”39

“Did he ever show your underwear to your friends on your 15th birthday party?”40

“No, he would never do such a thing.” Ryan said. “Oh god, your brother did it to you?”41

Aaron nodded solemnly. “There are even worse things than that. But I don’t wanna tell you guys.”42

Later that day the group was discussing about the Halloween party at Aaron’s apartment when somebody knocked on the door. Aaron opened the door and came face to face with his least favorite person on earth.44

“Hello brother.” His twin brother Daniel grinned at him. “My god, you look great.”45

Aaron raised an eyebrow suspiciously. Daniel had never talked to him like that before. “What do you want?” he asked quickly.46

“Alright,” Daniel sighed. “I’m homeless. Can I crash with you for a few days?”47

“Why? Did you burn up your apartment?” Aaron rolled his eyes.48

“No, they are kicking me out because I didn’t pay the rent for two months.”49

“Didn’t you have a waiter job?” Aaron crossed his arms in front of his chest. “What happened to that?”50

“They fired me for flirting with female customers.”51

“Good god!” Aaron raised his eyebrows. “You’re jobless and homeless, but you can still afford porn?”52

“Oh, so you saw me there, huh?” Daniel said with a crooked smile.53

“Dan, why don’t you go back to Paris?”54

“Yeah, like Mom and Dad would let me in the house.” Daniel rolled his eyes. “They never cared about me. You were always their favorite.”55

“Yeah, I wonder why they don’t like you.” Aaron sarcastically scratched his chin.56

“C’mon, bro. You’ve gotta help me out here.” Daniel insisted.57

“Alright, you can stay…” Aaron sighed.58

“Oh you’re so great.” Daniel exclaimed giving him a big hug almost squeezing him to death.59

“…until you find a new place.” Aaron choked out the rest of the sentence.60

“Wow, you guys are identical.” Cassie said.61

“Yeah, Cassie. Say hello to my new roommate and the pervert you saw at the porn place yesterday.” Aaron said and he introduced Daniel to the rest of the guys. “That’s Ryan, Regina, Emma and do you remember Kevin?”62

“Sure I do.” Daniel said. “Aren’t you the fat kid who threw up at our Christmas party when we were six?”63

“Huh?” everybody else gasped and looked at Kevin whose face turned red as a tomato.64

“Alright, Dan.” Aaron said quickly gesturing Daniel out of the apartment. “Let’s go and get your stuff.”65

“Seriously, dude. You threw up?” Ryan grinned at Kevin who glared at him.66

“Okay, guys.” Regina said. “Let’s go, there’s so much to do.”67

It was 8:45pm. The party had already begun.69

“Trick-or-Treat!” the shout of a kid came from outside. Regina who was dressed as Bubbles of The Powerpuff Girls answered the door with a bowl of candies.70

It was a boy dressed in all black. “Wow, what are you supposed to be?” she asked.71

“He’s a dark and scary night.” The guy who was with him replied. Regina looked at him. He was a boy about her age.72

“I’m Ross, by the way.” He smiled.73

Wow, he’s cute. Regina thought.74

“I-I’m… uh… Regina.” She stammered.75

“Hello? Can I have the candies?” The kid whined interrupting their conversation.76

“Here you go.” Regina dropped some candies into the kid’s Jack-o-lantern shaped bucket.77

“So, see you around.” Ross said with a smile before he left with the kid.78

Then Kevin and Emma arrived. Kevin was wearing a Ben 10 costume and Emma was dressed in a sexy cowgirl outfit.79

“Oh my god, Emma!” Cassie who was dressed as a witch came to the door.80

“Don’t I look great?” She said fiddling with her hat.81

“Yeah, too great!” she said.82

“Wow, looking good Tennyson.” Regina grinned at Kevin.83

“Very smart, Kev. So you chose a costume in which you wouldn’t have to dress up so much.” Cassie crossed her arms.84

“Yep.” Kevin grinned.85

“So, is this thing fake or can you really transform into aliens?” Regina meddled with the watch-like device, the Omnitrix, on Kevin’s wrist.86

“Ha-ha! Very funny.” Kevin rolled his eyes. “Anyways, where’s Aaron? And please tell me you didn’t invite his jackass Evil Twin to the party.”87

“They are across the hall trying on their costumes.” Regina replied. “I didn’t invite Daniel but… he sort of invited himself.”88

Then Aaron and Daniel came.89

“Wow, cool costumes.” Emma said. “So, which one of you is which one again?”90

“I’m Aaron.” Aaron said. He was wearing a pirate costume.91

“Cool party. I’m gonna go mingle.” Daniel who was dressed as a vampire said and disappeared into the crowd.92

“Emma, can I talk to you outside for a second?” Cassie said and Emma followed her into the hallway.93

“What are you doing?” Cassie asked.94

“What?” Emma frowned.95

“Why are you dressed like that?” she asked. “You’re trying to make a move on Ryan, aren’t you?”96

“What makes you think that?” Emma rolled her eyes.97

“Emma, come on.”98

“Okay, fine.” Emma sighed. “He’s bringing some girl and I’m not gonna watch them make out on the dance floor while I sit in a corner like a goody-goody.”99

“Make out? C’mon, Emma. They’ve only been on a couple of dates.” Cassie said.100

“Shhh... here they come.” Emma whispered to Cassie. “Oh, please tell me she looks fat.”101

Ryan was coming down the hallway with a beautiful brunette girl.102

“I gotta go!” Emma said quickly and dashed into the apartment.103

“Hey! You didn’t dress up!” Cassie said as Ryan and his date approached.104

“Oh I’m so sorry I forgot it was a costume party.” Ryan faked a disappointed face.105

“Yeah, right!” Cassie rolled her eyes.106

“Anyways, this is Lisa. Lisa, this is my friend Cassie.” Ryan introduced them both.107

“Nice to meet you, Cassie.” Lisa smiled and shook hands with Cassie.108

“Nice to meet you too.”109

“Look at how easy Ryan gets dates.” Kevin said as he watched Ryan and Lisa lost in a deep conversation.111

“Hmmm… sounds like somebody hate being single.” Cassie grinned.112

“Totally.” Kevin sighed. “Why am I so bad with girls? Am I dreadfully unattractive?”113

“No, no. Kevin, you’re one of the most handsome guys I know.” Cassie said.114

“Then what is it about me? Do I talk too much? Is it my hairstyle? Is it the way I dress? Do I look gay?”115

“Alright, come with me.” Cassie said. “I’ll introduce you to some of my friends.” She held his hand and led him through the crowd.116

“Hey, Jodie. This is my friend Kevin.” Cassie introduced Kevin to a blonde girl.117

“Hi Kevin.” Jodie smiled.118

“Hi Jodie.” Kevin tried to sound cool. “I like your costume.” He said. She was wearing a Catwoman costume.119

“Really? Thank you.”120

“Yeah, it’s really nice and tight and…” Kevin trailed off realizing what he just said.121

Jodie frowned at him. “Excuse me.” She walked away.122

“Oh god.” Kevin sighed. Cassie shook her head in disbelief.123

“Hey guys.” Emma said boldly approaching Ryan and Lisa. “Are you having fun?”125

“Wow, Emma!” Ryan said looking Emma from head to toe. He had never seen her in such an outfit. “Nice costume.”126

“Thanks.” Emma said. “Don’t you want to introduce me to your new girlfriend?”127

“Um… okay. Emma, this is Lisa.”128

“Hi, Lisa!” Emma said. “Ryan is a great guy.”129

“Yeah, he is, isn’t he?” Lisa said.130

“You know what? You both are perfect for each other. You should get married, have kids and grow old together.” Emma snapped and left.131

Ryan and Lisa exchanged confused looks.132

“Oh my god!” Aaron gaped at Daniel in disbelief. “Dan, are you drunk?”134

“No I’m not! You are.” Daniel smiled drunkenly.135

Aaron smacked his head.136

“Alright,” Daniel shushed him. “I’m a little drunk. But don’t tell anyone, okay?”137

“Daniel, you should go to bed now.” Aaron said. “You can barely stand properly.”138

“Oh don’t talk rubbish!” Daniel said. “You’re out of your…” then he passed out to the floor.139

Aaron just sighed.140

Ryan started to look for Emma while Lisa chatted with Regina. He walked through the bunch of kids but couldn’t find her. Finally he went to Cassie’s room where he found her lying on the bed sucking on a candy.142

“Hey, what’s the matter with you, cowgirl?” Ryan asked as he stepped into the room.143

“What are you doing here?” Emma said. “Shouldn’t you be with your girlfriend?”144

“Something is bothering you, Emma.” He said. “You’ve been acting weird all night.”145

“Okay Ryan, I’m sorry if I seemed harsh with you and Lisa.” She sat up on the bed. “But seeing you two together just reminded me of the fact that I don’t have a boyfriend.”146

“Hey, you’re starting that boyfriend crap again.” Ryan sat with her. “Did you forget about what I said the other night? No dating for a while. Spend more time with friends.”147

“I know, I remember.” Emma said.148

“So come on. Let’s go and enjoy the party.” Ryan said.149

“You go. I’ll come in a minute.” She said.150

“Don’t take too long, okay?” he said and left the room. Emma fell back on the bed.151
