The Girl Never Known

Once, there was a girl. She was thin, and of medium height, with large dark eyes and long dark hair.1

But no one ever noticed.2

This girl was alone. She went to school, and was ignored by all her teachers. She ignored by her classmates. She was ignored by the lunch staff, the cleaning staff.3

She had a name, at one time. Since no one ever asked her, she could not voice it and so the name never stuck, she never became that. 4

No one saw her.5

When it rained, the sky would fall, and the rain drops did not ignore her. The brushed her skin with reassuring kisses of love and comfort and rememberings of what she was. When it rained, the sky came down to meet her, and the earth came up to greet her. It swirled around her ankles and feet, covering her toes. The grass reached up to caress her calf the way a lover's hand never would. The trees blew leaves over her as a lover's breath would never blow the dust from her eyes. 6

On the day, she left school and stood in the school yard. Everyone rushed around her, heading for the buses, the parking lot, friends, lovers, families. She stood there. She was alone.7

The rain came down from the sky, and the earth came up from the ground. She lay on the earth, lay with the grass, and the trees blew their leaves against her skin, brushing her body with their loveing touch. Th grass stroked her skin where it could reach, and the earth shaped itself to her body. Thr rain came down from above and washed her face with love and comfort and the only feelings close to family.8

As she lay there, with the earth coming up, and the sky coming down, and the people going around her, she left her eyes open, but saw nothing. She watched nothing, as she sunk into the earth, as the earth carried her down into its warmth. The rain smoothed the earth around her, smoothed her skin against her, and the grass enfirled her. As she sunk, as if into a very deep and comfortable and familiar bed, she did not blink. She stared. She knew. She was ignored. No one passing by her new her from Lucifer, from Diana, from Neptune or Saturn. 9

She sank into the earth and the ground covered her.

Wow, this was really good. Sorry it took me song to read, but I'm glad I did now. This is a story that requires thought. It bit hard to read becasue of the font though.

Anyway great description and a lot of meaning put into somthing so short. I applaud you.

This was really great Poisoned! The descriptions were great, and the emotions were really broad. This could be a prologue to a story, that would be a series I would be dying to read!

The only bad thing is that you should change the font color to something brighter, I had to highlight the words in order to read this piece!

But this was great, I look forward to more!

The background with the font is a little hard to read, just so you know.

Wow, very interesting story, and that is the best word I can think of to describe it (for the record, it's not the type of interesting that's goes "that's...interesting." But, interesting in a positive, thought provoking way.) I really liked it.

It is one of those stories that can be translated in several different ways, depending how you look at it. You could think the girl died, that she becamethe part of the earth, that she is, by being devoured by the earth, going to the place where she will be repected and recognized. For some reason this story reminded me of the movie "Pan's Lybrinth." Can't put my finger on why, though.

But, anyway, it was a beautiful peice. The only thing I have to say is it would be helpful ifyou either changed the background or the font, so others won't have to highlight to words to read them (didn't affect me much, I do that anyway. )

Thank you very much for posting, I really enjoyed it.
