Diary Entry 137: How Do You Stop Distractions? -.-

I get distracted by everything. As I was telling my friend, Meli, the other day...I get distracted by air. I have such a hard time focusing on my writing. Don't get me wrong, I love to write. But I need tips on how not get distracted! Thank you

It takes practice not to get distracted. I can write during a hurricane if I am in the middle of it, in it's eye.

If you have a room of your own, then turn off the tv and put something nice on the radio--maybe some jazz and have a game plan for writing and don't allow for distractions by others--people and friends call and texting, emails and stuff.

Start with having this kind of environment for an hour and gradually add fifteen minutes to it after you can write for a half hour without allowing yourself to get distracted.

It takes time, patience and practice but it can be done.

I write with the kids in the room, the tv on and the radio blaring and people knocing on the door but, I can concentrate and don't allow anything to distarct me.

My computer is in the den =\ Which is of course where my mom and sister are. I usually put music on, but I get yelled at for something at least every hour -.-. I usually write best at night, but that was during the summer when I could stay up until 3 AM. Soon enough I'll have a laptop, I've been saving my money since last Christmas.
