Mother Earth

The sun was setting in a fiery ball. Magenta, mauve and reds colored the spectacular canvas of the silhouette created by the backdrop of the mountains against the darkening expanse of the coming night. The blistering heat of the day was finally dissipating and the frogs were coming out to entertain with their exuberant song. It mattered not that it was quite a cacophonous sound. The crickets chirped in unison. Nature had come alive and the sultry evening air coaxed them into song. It was an exquisite setting and the city, with its responsibilities seemed very far away. 1

She sighed softly as the stars came out to play. It was their playground and they adorned it with such beauty. It always awed her that the night-sky here was so much more prolific. She was overcome with the ancient wisdom she sensed. She padded out to the veranda and stood there, bathed in the silvery light of the moon. 2

She was an exquisite piece of art. Her naked body blended in with the environment and her curves were enhanced in the soft light. Her long hair flowed down her shoulders and her long legs were a sight for sore eyes. She had the beautiful, pert breasts of the young, even though her soul was old beyond time. Her eyes reflected the depth of her knowledge and connection with those around her. She heard the words of the songs sung around her and she touched each creature telepathically. Her awareness was immense and she could sense the joy around her. 3

She smiled thinking about him, still sleeping soundly. Their lovemaking this morning was immensely satisfying as always and their connection deepened with each experience. Before coming out to the veranda, she had just watched his face for what seemed like hours. He looked like an angel while he was lost in sleep. It took a real effort to tear herself away from him, but this was her favorite time of the day. She fingered the pendant around her neck. Her mind reached out to his as it always did when she connected with this beautiful piece of art he had created for her. A psychic she met one day, had said that it symbolized and carried their connection and that he felt a fierce, burning energy. 4

Suddenly she felt a familiar tug at her consciousness. It was the mother waiting to give birth. Her time had come and the call was issued. It did not matter that they were hundreds of miles away from the Atlantic. The gentle insistence grew stronger as the ancient voice of the dolphin called. She probed the mind of her companion, gently waking him from his slumber.5

"Hi there my love, I need you. The mother is calling and we need to go."6

As always when she probed in this way, his mind stirred softly and embraced her lovingly.7

"Hello my love. Yes, you are quite the busy bee tonight. I am ready to go swimming. Hold my hand. I felt the stirrings of your mind a while ago. Your dolphins have become very insistent, haven't they?" 8

She closed her eyes and held on tight. They flew across the sky, part of time and blending with all that is. Two spirits flew, in search of the deeper pulse of life that supported all life on earth. Yet, to the casual observer, she was sitting outside taking in the brilliance of a Karoo night and he was peacefully sleeping. She had never expected this to ever happen to her. His ability to travel with her and assist her was something she discovered a short while after they met. They shared a soul kiss and she knew she was being reunited with her twin soul. 9

They arrived and were welcomed by the tranquil depths of the ocean and the loving embrace of the dolphins who had initiated contact. 10

She was the water, she was the mother of the earth, she was life. She flowed and he let go. She could feel his energy and his mindful attention as she breathed pure life. She reached out to the mother, who was in need of her. It was the pregnant dolphin, who had recognized that she would need help with her birthing a few months ago. 11

"Help me please, this pain is rending me apart. It does not want to come."12

"Oh mother, I honor you. Open up your mind to the wondrous soul who is preparing to enter the baby you carry. It is growing restless. Open up and receive the gift of my strength. I have come to assist you." 13

Strange how one could speak to others and share without structured language. The language of the universe was so much stronger. Their vibration in synchronization, the mother relaxed. There was true love here. The love only those sharing the knowledge of being knew and gave. She felt the pain emanating from the mother and the confusion of the soul nearby. She infused both with her strength and love, knowing that it had immense healing power. Slowly the birthing progressed and she was totally absorbed. She knew that he held her all the time, supplementing her energy with his. She had only been midwife twice, but she knew what it took out of her if he was not with her. She appreciated and loved him so much. 14

Suddenly the new baby emerged and the mother sighed relief. The calf swam close to its mother as its soul entered its body. She could sense his awareness flooding in. The rush of this awakening and the vast store of memory always found with dolphins continually surprised and delighted her. She stayed with the two she had assisted for a while, rejoicing in the flow of thought they now shared. She felt him caress her mind sensuously. He always had need of her after a birthing and she gladly took his hand, as they returned to their retreat in the desert. 15

Back in her physical body, she got up and walked back to the room. She became aware of the music of the night flooding back in. Her footsteps lightly tread on the tiled floors and she slipped into bed, snuggling close to him. He was indeed awake and pulled her closer. His lips covered hers tenderly and she felt the butterfly kisses trailing across her lips. She opened her lips to give him access to her willing wetness. So began the dance of union they both knew so well. It seemed as if they were never apart and this dance was a part of her soul she missed so much before meeting him again. She moaned as he found the sweet spot and tickled her with his tongue. She returned his kiss with even more fervour now. This was yet another prelude to ecstasy. His hands framed her face, as he kissed her tenderly on the tip of her nose and then on her eyelids. 16

"My sweet, sweet gaia – keeper of my heart and soul, your eyes are still filled with the wonder of this birthing. I could drown in them." 17

She complied, obeyed him instantly. His eyes focused on her and she was astonished at the power she felt there. Her man, the Master of her world, looked into the eyes of his lover, the midwife and saw the message displayed there before she knew it was there. The mother was inside her head again. 18

"You have helped me tonight. There is a soul waiting for your baby, the one that was conceived this morning. Call on me when that happens – life has been started inside your womb. Be well." 19

Could it be true? How did the dolphin know? She turned her eyes inward and scanned her womb. She found the cells dividing and saw the child. She was in shock, but she knew she was not alone in this exploration. He was there with her, she could never hope to hide anything from this man. She saw the knowledge and reverence lighting his eyes as she returned from her inner explorations. 20

He lifted her towards him. She nestled close. No words were spoken, but they both knew now. They would be parents and there was not a thing that could spoil the sacred power of this moment. 21

He looked at her with so much passion and care before he covered her body with his.22

"I love you, mother to me and now to him too…"23

This is a very good piece of writing. I specially enjoyed you descriptions at the beginning of the story and your words brought the landscape alive so that it too became one of the characters in your story. Brilliant. One of my favourite lines is: “Nature had come alive and the sultry evening air coaxed them into song.”.

    Exquisite

Oh gaia. I have had goosebumps throughout this read. I was enraptured and captivated throughout.
In the first two paragraphs you took me with you and we became one with nature, as you set the scene. It was tone painting at its best.
The introduction of the two characters in the third and fourth paragraphs was so subtly done that there was no jarring us out of the natural environment you had so beautifully set.
From the fifth paragraph onwards, at special moments, shooting tingles went up or down my spine! Here you touched me very deep down in my soul and my spirit soared with you on your astral journey. What a memorable journey it was too!
The twist at the end was exquisite in its beauty.
You have excelled in writing a spiritual piece here, gaia. Well done. I look forward to more of your spiritual writing in the future.
    ~ Moira
