Once upon a time there was a fox named Nala. She watched all the children play and she saw a hot dog stand. It had a white sign that said "Hot dogs $1."1
She didn't have enough money for a hot dog so she sat down on a bench made of grass to ponder how she could get one dollar.2
In a flower restaurant sat Penelope the pink bunny. She looked at the menu and said to the red-spotted frog that took her order. "I would like a blueberry rose please."3
"Yes, ma'am," said the waiter as he bent down.4
Minutes later Penelope got her blueberry rose. She was going to take a bite but she saw salt on it and gasped. She hated salt!5
In a pond made of apple juice, swam two duck sisters named Maegan and Madison and they were the sister who could not stop laughing. They laughed in the morning, they laughed in the afternoon and they even laughed in the evening.6
"Why are you two laughing?" asked the seahorse named Charlie, to the sisters.7
"We don't know," they giggled back, "We have been laughing like this forever!"8
"You're weird!" said Charlie, and he swam off snobbishly.9
Nala wanted a job to get a dollar, but how long would she have to work to get it? She walked around town and she went into Wal-Mart but saw only humans working, instead of animals. She felt sad but cheered up because there were many more jobs she hadn't tried. So she left Wal-Mart and went into a dollar store ... but still no animals. So she just took a rest on her bed at home.10
Penelope left the restaurant hungry. She was concerned because she missed lunch. She went home and sat sadly on her bed. Finally, the waiter had made a mistake.11
Crying with teats as her tummy rumbled for food. She lay down and took a rest.12
Maegan and Madison waddled out of the pond, laughing and chuckling at everything they saw. They stopped in front of a little pink turtle named Carl, and they laughed at his pink shell.13
"Whatever are you laughing about, you ducks?" asked Carl.14
"We don't know," they replied.15
Just then an orange fish named Spot looked over the side of the pond. "Hi ducklings. You should not be laughing so much. Don't you know you're disturbing everyone’s rest? Especially mine. I'm a hardworking fish and can't be bothered by two nitwits like you!"16
The ducks suddenly stopped laughing. Are we really upsetting everyone? they thought sadly.17
Nala woke up from a pleasant dream and decided to go out for a walk. She looked down at her paws as she trotted down the sidewalk and then BUMP! She hit two crying ducks! "Why are you crying, ducklings?" asked Nala.18
"We feel terrible!" they both said. "Our laughter is disturbing everyone and Spot the fish even gave us money just to leave!" And they began crying again.19
"Would you like to walk with me? Perhaps you'll feel better!"20
And so they started walking down the block by the park.21
Nala, Maegan and Madison strolled down the sidewalk until they heard some loud growling. They looked over to see a little pink rabbit named Penelope.22
"Did you just growl at us?" they asked Penelope, a little confused.23
"That was not me. That's my tummy. I am sooo hungry!" said Penelope, holding her roaring tummy.24
"Let's all go to the park and maybe we will cheer up there," said Nala.25
Nala, Penelope, Maegan and Madison all arrived at the park and tried to tell all of the people why they were sad-but no one listened.26
"We used to not be able to stop laughing," said Madison, wiping her eyes. "But now we can't stop crying!"27
"I don't have money to get a hot dog. I need a dollar," said Nala.28
"I am so hungry but I spent all my money on a dinner I did not like," said Penelope.29
And the four of them sat there sadly.30
The four of them sat in the park, moaning about their sadness.31
"You should not be so sad about laughing so much," said Penelope. "It's just who you are. Everyone should be as happy as you."32
The ducks sighed and then decided Penelope was right and then ... they started laughing! They realized they had four dollars and they bought everyone a hot dog from the stand. And they ate their hot dogs and were all happy.33
