Aerin Academy - Aphrodite - Chapter Seven1

“Aphrodite, whats wrong?” Artemis said, instantly noticing my mood change.2

“The only thing that can touch us without being harmed, are angels of Death.” I said bluntly.3

She gasped. “Oh my God, you’re right.”4

“So Hephaestus is an Angel of Death.” I said, my voice came out softly.5

“Go to your room, Dite. I’ll get Apollo, we’ll sort this out.” 6

I slowly nodded my head and headed towards my room. I cuddled with a pillow and began to cry. Letting out all my tears of frustration since forever. All the tears that I’d been holding back let loose. I sat there and cried for everything. Me, Hephaestus, my parents, my sorrow, pain, anguish, everything that I’d ever done, I cried for. There was a knock on the door and I instantly stopped my tears, they dried up. I was good at hiding tears, I had fifteen years of practice. I swiftly stood up and fixed my hair, making sure I looked decent. I flung open the door only to see Ares. My face lit up and I threw my arms around him, letting my tears loose once more. He swiftly pulled me into the room and sat me down. I threw my arms back around him and he hugged me firmly to him, and rubbed my hair. I would have snapped at anyone else who touched my hair, but this was Ares. I was shaking and trembling, I couldn’t speak, so he let me cry into his shoulder for as long as she needed. He continued to run his hand over my hair, whispering it’ll be okay. I instantly felt better with just him there, comforting me.7

My tears finally stopped and he tried to push me away from him, but I only hugged him tighter. He let out a sigh as I wrapped my arms around her to calm her down and we stayed there for a good five minutes. I clung to the material of his shirt, gripping it tightly, as if I were holding on for dear life, and my face was buried deep within his strong chest. 8

He finally reached around me, grabbed my wrists and placed them firmly at my sides. I felt as if I had been slapped. He gave me a stern look. “Aphrodite,” he said, his voice soft but firm. I didn’t reply. “Aphrodite, talk to me.” He repeated.9

“Hephaestus,” I whispered.10

“What about Hephaestus?” He said hugging me gently back into him.11

“He’s an Angel of Death.” 12

“What?!” He said, staggering back. I nodded my head and crumpled to the floor, burying my face in my hands, and continued to sob. 13

He stepped up to me, pulling me up towards him as he hugged me, trying to comfort me as best he could. I gripped the collar of his shirt and pulled him towards me and whispered. “Just kiss me, you fool.” 14

His eyes widened. He gently touched my chin and tilted it to face him and leaned down to kiss me. At first he brushed those sexy lips against mine, then kissed me gently, then harder and harder. I pushed him down to my bed and I knotted my hands in his hair, as a tear slid down my face. In between kisses, He asked a question. “What’s wrong? Why are you crying?” I simply shook my head and kissed him again 15

“I’m crying because I’m happy.” I said before he could say anything else and kissed him again. “We can be together, with no interference. .” 16

“Aphrodite.” He said sternly, as I kissed his lips. 17

“Hmm?”18

“We need to stop, I need to access some memories.”19

“Memories?” I asked quizzically as I stopped.20

“Yes, I’m going to take down Hephaestus, we can’t let an Angel of Death run loose in the school.” I bit my lip, but got off of him and began to channel my memories as well. I say the way he looked at me through my perphirals and stared at him blankly. “What? I’m not letting you go without me. If you think that, you’re dead wrong.” He smiled at me and I smiled back. There was a moment of silence as we concentrated on accessing our memories from compiled for years and years. Instantly, the flickers passed by my eyes, I could barely focus on one. And finally, I found one where I was going up against an Angel.21

BANG! BANG! BANG!22

And I was snapped out of my memory. Ares as well. I looked at him and I nodded my head. She moved slowly and opened the door to find a weeping Artemis and Apollo, who was holding her. Aphrodite jumped into action.23

“What happened?” It was amazing really, how fast she recovered.24

“An Angel of Death is after Athena. He morphed into me, and is planning to capture her.” Apollo said, his voice came out rough and it seemed as if his throat constricted. His eyes had lost their normal shining blue and became a dark depressing blue. My world collapsed around me. An Angel of Death was planning on capturing Athena. An Angel of Death was planning on capturing Athena was the only thing that ran through my mind.25

“Where did you guys go on the date?” Aphrodite asked.26

“My parent’s restaurant not too far from here.” 27

“Let’s go. We need to save Athena.” Aphrodite jumped into action, grabbing her keys.28

“Aphrodite, we have to get a pass,” Apollo said softly.29

“Does it look like we have time to get a *fucking pass? Athena could be getting kidnapped at this very second, and you’re worried about a pass? What a good boyfriend you are!” Aphrodite screeched. “Let’s go.” She said, running out of the dorm room. I followed, running as fast as I could, fear settling in my bones and chilling my very core. I shuddered and jumped into the car. Aphrodite backed out, and drove quickly for the gate. 30

“Aphrodite, you need to slow down, they have to open the gate.” Apollo said.31

“Screw that, we don’t have time, I’ll just ram the *damn thing!” She said frantically. The speedometer went past sixty, and was inching towards seventy. The gatesmen instantly saw Aphrodite’s intentions and opened the gates, just enough to let her slip through. I sighed in relief, thinking we were going to hit the gates.32

Aphrodite pushed the pedal even farther and it inched past one hundred. There wouldn’t be many cars on the road, so maybe just maybe she could go the whole way going a hundred and she wouldn’t be caught. No such luck. Instantly red and blue lights flicked in Aphrodite’s rear view mirror. 33

“Pull over, Aphrodite,” Apollo said sternly, gripping her arm.34

“No, we’re going to save Athena.”35

“You think I don’t want to? I want to save her just as much as you. Now pull over. Use compulsion to get him to leave, oh mighty goddess of love.”36

“Tch. Fine.” Aphrodite swerved her car over and out of the way, and pressed on the gas pedals causing everyone to lurch forward. The seatbelt dug into my skin. I grinded my teeth together, as my head hit the dashboard of the car. I rubbed my forehead and Aphrodite gasped. There was blood trickling down my face. Aphrodite placed a hand on my arm.37

“Ares? I’m so sorry. I didn’t know you would get hurt,” She looked down biting her lip. 38

“It’s fine, it’ll heal by the time we get there.” I wanted to make someone bleed, I didn’t know why. “Just focus on using your compulsion so we can quickly get to Athena.” I struggled not to get out of the car and kill the guy myself. 39

The officer approached the car and motioned for Aphrodite to roll down the window. She complied, slowly rolling it down, locking onto the officers eyes. 40

“Yes?” She said, her voice sweet and soft.41

“You were speeding over one hundred miles per hour.”42

“No I wasn’t,” She said, keeping her voice level, and making sure she kept looking into his eyes. Eye contact was key with compulsion.43

“Apollo,” Aphrodite said. “Where is your restaurant?”44

“Keep going straight, pass the city, and then turn into a tiny alley way. There should be a gate. I know the code so we can quickly get in.” He said still calm. I snapped.45

“Why are you so calm? This is my sister we’re talking about here!”46

“We need someone to be the voice of reason, we can’t let anger cloud our judgment.” He said, still just as calm. 47

His calm irked me even more, but he was right. I wasn’t thinking straight because of my anger. I wanted to wring the Angel of Deaths’ neck and make him suffer for even thinking about touching Athena. *Damn him, he’s going to regret ever turning into an Angel of Death. I’ll make him pay. The car smoothly made it through the city as their weren’t many cars on the road. Aphrodite’s speed stayed constant, and she grew more irate with each passing second that they weren’t there saving Athena. I was growing restless.48

“Aphrodite, can’t you make this thing go any faster?” I said, my mind still in a haze.49

“Well, Mr. Van Alan, can’t you see that my speedometer is basically off the charts? If it wasn’t for my natural ability to use compulsion, would we be here right now? No, so shut your mouth.” SHe snapped. I crossed my arms and glared at her.50

“Glare at me all you want, it won’t change anything. Why don’t you focus on accessing some memories?” She said briskly.51

“Fine.” I said annoyed. 52

The picture disintegrated as the car jerked to a stop. This time, I pushed my hands out to stop my head from slamming into the dashboard again. The seatbelt dug into my shoulder, ripping through skin. “Jesus Christ, Aphrodite! Could you drive worse?” I snapped.53

“Don’t you want to *fucking save her too? She’s your sister!” She snapped back.54

“My sister,” I sneered. “Is a fool.”55

Aphrodite gasped, “She’s your sister,” 56

“A sister whom I despise,” I said coldly.57

“Then why are you here, Ares?” Her hands gripped the steering wheel tightly.58

“To kill. For blood.” I said tilting my head and smiling coldly.59

“Blood?” Aphrodite said, her voice barely above a whisper. “You came here for blood.” It wasn’t a question, it was a statement. He answered regardless.60

“That’s right. For the pleasure of killing.”61

“You really are the war God.” She said under her breath. Shaking her head, she turned to Apollo. “Put in the *damn code.” 62

He scanned his card and typed in his pin number, the gates opened. Aphrodite zoomed in, slamming the car into a parking spot and slamming the door. She walked up the steps of the restaurant and pulled open the door falling to the floor within seconds. I ran up to the steps as well, and picked Aphrodite up. Ugh, it’s empty. Looks like no killing for me today. Tch.63
