Flaw

I sat along the polished shore,
I watched the waves curl to the bank.
I had been there since the birth of dawn,
I had gone there just to think.
How beautiful yet perilous,
The ocean seemed to be.
My heart longed for a moment spent,
Indulging in its glee.
I knew quite well the ocean's perils,
I should not enter for this sake.
Yet, my mind began to pattern ways,
In which it could partake.
I spied a boat or to my left,
Docked neatly on the sand.
Twas painted in dark lavender,
Oh, surely it was grand.
Its wood seamed strong, its rudder fast,
A sturdy craft indeed.
Reason said no good will come of this,
Yet reason I would not heed.
I ventured over to the bark,
To behold its subtitles.
Its length was choice, its depth just right,
This craft was built for me.
I pushed the boat into the waves,
And then did clamber in.1

Out to the east and back to west.
I beheld the view in awe.
But then to my horror I observed
My craft, it had a flaw.
As the grim, cold water filled my ark,
I rowed with all my might.
I searched to find not but the sea.
There was no shore in sight.
I gasped for air and beat the waves,
As I began to sink.
The ocean took my life away,
I had gone there just to think.

Author notes

A poem I wrote a few years back. Thought I might type it up and share it. As I'm sure you will catch, its quite metaphorical. let me know what you think.
