How Many Feathers got his name.

Many Feathers1

Many Feathers was born late. His mother had jumped off a 4 ft. stump to get things started. But that still didn’t help. 2

One afternoon while his mother was plucking two ducks his father had killed, He decided to arrive. 3

His mother was saving duck down to make him a soft bed and had put the down in a basket to be covered with a cloth. The cloth was to be tucked in around the down. However, his mother didn’t have time to tuck, so the cloth just lay over the down.4

Many Feathers older sister was helping the old midwife deliver him. After he got the sharp slap to his bottom, and he started crying, the midwife handed him to his sister to put in the basket. When she did - Whoops - he sank to the bottom of the basket and feathers and down flew up and all over every thing..5

Being still wet the down and feathers stuck all over him . Just then his father, Lame Horse entered the tee-pee, and there was his new son covered with all those feathers. Thus the name Many Feathers..6

Very cute! :-D I'll bet he could have been named something worse than Many Feathers. I liked the "His mother had jumped off a 4 ft. stump to get things started. But that still didn’t help," because it makes Many Feathers seem like such a hard ass...even before he was born. Overall, a great, cute, quick story! Great job!

I love this story so much and laughed for some time. Now i am giving you my reply to this. Don't know whether you made this up or not but it was so beautifully put together and extremely well told. I was hooked right from the beginning wondering what on earth was going to happen with all them duck down that did n't get to where they were suppose to. That would have been such a funny sight. I f i were the father, i would have been wondering what on earth i had brought into the world. Just so pleasant to read. Keep up the great work. You are a real gem!

This is so charming and cute! For such a short tale, this was very well told. I could never fit so much into such a short story. I commend you on your ability to do just that. I saw one minor nit which has no effect on the storyline at all, but you know I hafta tell ya cause I love ya so! In the next to the last line, you have interred and I believe you meant "entered". This is a great story and a good entry. Thank you for entering such a pleasurable read in my contest and good luck to you!
