(letter to senator)

The Honorable Barbara Boxer2

U.S Senate3

Washington D.C. 205104

Dear Senator Boxer:5

I am writing to you in regards to the Student Aid and Financial Responsibility Act. This bill will put student loans under the control of the federal government. This would save money, but also cut out private lenders, the middle step most schools use.6

I am not in support of this bill. It will also cause a lot of people to lose their jobs. Many of the people included in the middle step would be out of a job and, in the current economy, finding another job would be quite the difficult task. I believe that taking out the middle step would be harmful overall. Government loans can only cover so much of college expenses and many help pay for college by working. I think that taking out the private lenders and all who work for them would force the then jobless people to take any job they could get, including jobs that college students might normally take. While I do support more funding for college students, I do not believe it would be a good idea to take a job away from so many people.7

Would there be any way for everyone to stay in a job?8

Sincerely, 9

Melissa 10
