Brush... Brush... Brush... Spit... Swish... Spit... Wipe my mouth and hang the towel over the rail. I turn back to the sink and avoid looking into the mirror. I know what will happen this time. Never again. Nope. Not ever.1
When I was done brushing my teeth, I wiped my wet hands on the towel that hangs from the rail attached to my bathroom wall. I turned back to the mirror to check that I didn't leave any toothpaste in the corners of my mouth, and jumped back. My reflection was not what it should be. No, it was moving! And I was standing still. IT smiled at me, this well known stranger, and beckoned with one forefinger. Stupidly, I leaned in towards the mirror, wondering what the hell was going on. The stranger in the mirror leaned closer too, and breathed on the glass. The fog blurred it's appearance, and letters started to appear, one by one. 2
H... E... L... P... M... E...3
I wondered what I was supposed to do to help this person who looked just like me, but they seemed to know exactly what to do. They breathed on the glass again and the letters appeared once more.4
C... O... M... E... C... L... O... S... E... R...5
I leaned even farther over my sink, until my nose was almost touching the silvered glass on my bathroom wall. Slowly, the figure brought its hands up in front of its' face... and slammed them into the glass. It shattered, but held together. There were two spiderweb shaped cracks in the glass where the things' hands had hit it. 6
I stumbled back, staring in awe at my mirror. The thing smiled at me. I shivered. This was the smile of a mad man. One that says, "I will kill you one day." I backed up until I could go no further and tripped over the towel on my floor, slamming my back into the wall. It smiled at me again. 7
I tried to look down, look away, look at anything but the essence of my madness, but her eyes held me captive and I could do nothing while under the power of that gaze. Then it looked away, down to the spiderweb cracks in the mirror, and carefully selected a shard. It pulled away, disappearing for a moment, and then reappeared behind my mirror, in what ever land this creature dwelled. 8
The thing lifted the shard of my mirror in front of its' eyes and studied it for a moment. THen, while looking straight at me with its piercing gaze, slowly brought the razor sharp tip to its lips and licked it sensually. THen it flipped its' tongue out of its mouth and sucked it back in. I wathced the blood seep out of the corners of the things mouth, transfixed. THen it leaped forward, pressed itself bodily up against the glass and ran its tongue over the mirror, almost as a suggestion. 9
I shivered again and closed my eyes. When I opened them, the creature was standing there, staring at me. I looked back at it and it twiddled its' fingers in my direction and then froze in place, reflecting my movements. I moved, and it moved too, just like a reflection should. 10
I stood upright and wandered back to my room. I pulled my pajamas on again and climed back into bed. No school for me today.11
