I Think I'm In Love With My Best Friend Ch. 6

I Think I’m In Love With My Best Friend1

Chapter Six2

Davis walked along the fence blocking off the forest. What he found was a hole in the fence, at the ground of it. It seemed like Charle dug himself up some more room. Great. Two in the morning and his best friend was trying to escape into the wilderness. What did that dog think to accomplish with only three legs. 3

Shaking his head, he climbed over the fence and landed in a crouch. He stood and began calling for Charle, waiting and waiting for a reply. And what he got was some soft barks. He followed to the best he could and as fast as he could. Charle seemed to have went far into the forest didn’t he. “Charle!” He called out again. A bark, to the….right. He turned and started towards the sound of Charle barking. 4

It was pitch black out, but he had exceptional vision in the dark. He didn’t like lights so his pupils were always the size or dimes. He spent a lot time in the dark. It was relaxing in the dark, the blight could become bothersome. 5

“Charle, bro, what are you doing?” He asked. There was a loud whimper this time. Sounding like Charle hurt himself. Davis went at dead run to see what the hell was going on with his dog. What he came to didn’t please him in the least. There was a very large dog on Charle, biting into him. It wasn’t fair. Charle was handicap and it wasn’t fair to fight a large dog like this one. Davis knew better not to try and break up dog fights, but this time would have to be and exception. 6

He went at the two entangle dogs and wrapped his arms around the large one like a bear hug, pulling the dog. It growled loudly, letting go only to try and attack him. He leaned back and tossed the dog to the side, thankful for all the football practice giving him some type of advantage to a rabid dog. The dog turned, glaring with yellow silver eyes. 7

Oh. It wasn’t a dog. It was a wolf. Dogs didn’t have those color eyes and weren’t as huge as this-8

The wolf went and attacked him, he put his arm up, letting the wolf latch onto his arm and try and drag him forward. He planted his feet on the ground and tugged back, bringing the wolf foreword. The wolf growled loudly, trying to get him on his stomach, shaking it’s head and yanking back. The pain was tingling up his arm as he could hear his jacket tear some more. Charle, running with his limp attacked the dog on instinct, grabbing for the neck with his front paw coming down on the wolves face. Davis used his other hand to grab the dogs neck. 9

The wolf bit down harder on his arm, trying to snap his bone. He really didn’t want to kick the animal, he would feel bad for hurting the poor thing. 10

Poor my ass, the thing is attacking you, kill it. 11

Well that wasn’t him. Not his voice, not his personality. Charle lost his grip on the wolf and feel back, while Davis tried to walk backwards. A bunch of the muddy leaves made him lose balance and he feel right on his back. 12

Of course it isn’t you dumbass, punch the wolf in the throat and if it doesn’t let go you use that branch besides you and beat the thing. 13

Davis brought his forearm down and then shot his arm back up, shaking the wolves head as his hand pushed hard at the wolves throat. There was no way in hell he would kill an animal. 14

You pathetic weakling. 15

The voice disappeared form his mind and a figure came from the shadows, pulling the wolf off and stepping on the wolves head. The whimper from the animal was loud as it scurried off and away. Davis looked up, the figure cloaked in black. “I can’t believe you. The thing would have killed you.” He snarled. Tha was the voice in his head. Made sense now. Wait… no I didn’t. How the hell was the man in his head. The man grabbed Davis and yanked him to his feet. “You will get killed if you keep the way you act up.”16

Allie was pulling her black spaghetti strap tank with lace on the edges over her head to start off her day. She slipped on a pair of sweats and grabbed another black sweater, this one also from old navy, but different color lettering. She was tired and didn’t want to do anything. She straightened her hair and clipped her bangs back, cleaning her face and brushing her teeth. No one showed up in the mirror this time. Which made her happy. 18

She went back into her room, looking for her black Nikes which appeared under the gaint mess of CD’s under her bed. She couldn’t wait until her vacation was up. She usually worked after school on Tuesdays to Thursdays and the on Saturdays and Sundays. She had two days off. Her dinner nights. And until she was off vacation she was cooking dinner every night of the week mostly. When she was done dressing she grabbed her glasses off her dresser and made sure everything was off in her room. She closed her door, bringing her keys with her and heading downstairs to meet up with her brother was who just leaving the house. She locked up and put the code and then quickly followed her brother down the hall.19

They weren’t the first ones there. It was Dino and Davis. And Davis was pale as hell. “What happened Davis?” She asked, worried about him from the tired look in his eyes. His left arm was in a sling. What did he do, break his arm?20

“I got attacked by a dog.” He replied.21

“Not Charle.” She assumed.22

“Nope. A rabbid dog out in the forest. I say it was a wolf, but they are all “wolves don’t live in these areas. It is to close to the city.’ Yeah okay. I know what a wolf looks like.” she nodded. He described the dog. 23

“So are you going to get your rabbies shot?” She asked, smiling. 24

“You know what, that isn’t funny.” She started laughing him, Markus joining in. The only thing funnier then that was Markus slapping Davis outside the head once and getting chased down the school halls. That was hilarious. Poor Markus got shoved into the girls locker room and attacked by a whole bunch of girls.25

Her phone went off, a text coming from Dolly. She viewed it saying wanted to sleep over this Friday. She replied say to hold it to Saturday since she had a date with Davis. Dolly gave her an angry face. And then a second later was like “WAT!!!??? YOU ARE GOING OUT WITH DAVIS!?” Miss dramatic was probably going to be going to school like:26

“Ha ha, I know something you don’t know.” And torture her poor friends with the ‘secret’. Replying to her friend she stuffed her phone back into her pocket and waited for Ash to come out with the whore. He never did. He was either playing Hookie to spend some time with Linda or he was sleeping in from lack of sleep. She would just have to wait for when Linda goes home to ask him. Maybe when she is gone he will actually listen to her.27

Arty came out just as the bus was coming. She was wearing a tight wife beater with a mini jacket over it. Her hair was high in a ponytail, some ringlets left loose to fall at the sides of her face. Her pants consisted of skinny jeans with rips and high heeled boots. Her makeup was done nicely, her lips covered in a sweet plum color, the shades of her eye shadow blending with different purples. Her eyelashes were coated in Mascara and her eyeliner was light. There was no foundation on her face. Their never was. Arty didn’t like to cover up her face in to much make-up. She believed natural was beauty and worked it to get all the boys and girls she wanted.28

When they were on the bus she sat next to Arty to ask what was up. Of course Arty’s other friends didn’t approve since they gave her menacing glares. “So why isn’t your jerk of brother in school today?” 29

“They were busy getting it on to dress and leave for school. They were up all night and I don’t see how he could last so long.” Arty opened up her compact mirror and checked her make-up, something she did every hour or so. 30

“SO, I guess they aren’t coming?” Allie said on a sigh of relief. She would have peace of mind finally. No more Linda making her upset over the little things. And her day did go well. She texted Emma and Dolly while they were both at school between and during classes. That is how strong her signal and their signals were. Good to have the bars needed. 31

Besides being attacked by a wolf, wait no, a big stray dog, Davis felt fine. His arm wasn’t in much pain and he was able to go to football practice. Ash not being here with Linda seemed to ease Allie. He could tell since she was so perky today when she usually hid inside her little shell curled up in fetal position. That and he asked her also. Always good to as a person how they felt.32

Allie was in the bleachers with Markus and Dino, watching as he slammed into those near him. He was always switched, defense to quarterback. Plus Ash wasn’t here so they didn’t pay so much attention to the giant junior. One of the guys tried to get past him to Kevin who had the ball, but he plowed him right over. And this guy was a lot bigger than him. Not all muscle, mostly fat, and no one has ever gotten the guy on his back. He wasn’t surprised to hear the cheering from the bleachers and the bench. 33

“Damn Davis. What has gotten into you. You actually owned Josh, and he is the one who usually does the owning.” Yeah the owning and breaking. Josh had always broken some part of Davis when he tackled him, but not today. Kevin clasped his hand onto Davis’s back as he removed his helmet and mouth guard. Davis followed the example and then helped Josh up. The man pinned a murderous glare on him, but Davis just felt like glaring at the bastard. Felt like attacking him where he stood and not stopping until he knew who the strongest was.34

That was odd.35

He turned on his heel and prowled over to the water containers to get a quick drink while the coach talked with Josh about trying harder to pin his ass. He could hear the coach clearly, and he could also smell the putrid scent of drugs. And it wasn’t just any drug. It smelled close to Prednisone, but off. A steroid?36

Allie wasn’t sick so she wasn’t on it so who the hell would be taking steroids around her. Davis turned his head when grabbing one of the cups. He glanced at his surroundings, trying to find the smell, and it led to three of the people on the team. Josh, Lance, and Taylor. All big guys, Josh fat and Lance and Taylor built bigger than regular linebackers. If they were taking steroids it would answer how they got so big so fast in their months here at Jason Kingsly High. 37

Davis shook it off and went back to playing, taking down any guy in his way and defending Kevin as they trolled down the failed and Kevin got a touchdown. And that happened until practice was almost over. The coach was fired up. Yelling at the three big guys and cheering on Davis. Who’s side was the old bastard on?38

After practice he went not the locker room and stripped, throwing his uniform into the dirty laundry it could be dry cleaned. He went into the shower, a towel on his shoulder. When he found his place in the showers her hung his towel at the edge of the poles and stepped under the boiling streams of water. It relaxed all the tense muscles in his body. Weird how he still wanted to go back onto the field and run around when he was usually tired and sore. Maybe this date with Allie was firing him up. 39

He couldn’t wait to make a move on his little Allie. God, she was beautiful. She would make a wonderful mother too. And she loved children. Loved being around them, making them smile, making them laugh. Her sister could be difficult which made her angry at just her, but she loved all other children. Davis grinned, wanting to snatch her up and hide her in his new place so no one could have her. Make her his and his only. 40

Someone shoved him from behind. Glaring, Davis turned around. It was big guy Josh. Great, he didn’t want fatty to ruin his pleasant thoughts. He seemed angry. Maybe fatty didn’t like to get knocked down. “there a problem?” He asked Josh.41

“Yeah, you.” Davis took a sniff of the air, smelling hatred and jealousy. Not only that but that smell of those steroids. It was absolutely disgusting. “You better not try anything Davy boy. I will bust your ass for taking drugs.” Davis actually laughed, grinning sheepishly.42

“I’m not the one on drugs and I’ll take that test right now if you want buddy boy.” He leaned in closer and glared at the fatty. “But I doubt you would get the same thing as me. Now just leave me alone before I bust your ass.” He turned around and went back to washing himself, smelling more Josh as he trudged around and got his scent on everything. Luckily the hot water was washing the disgusting smell. 43

After school he took Charle out for another walk and made sure he was on a leash this time, making sure that the dog wasn’t going off. Allie was home making dinner, Dino was home doing his homework, Ash was driving Linda home and Markus was being dragged to one of his father’s meetings where he was going to go through lots of exercises and training the other soon-to-be-soldiers. And he was left to be in the quiet neighborhood, looking at all the children passing by on their bikes. Watching car’s zoom by every once in a while and looked out into the forest separated from the world. 44

Charle started barking, pulling at the leash. 45

“What is it boy?” He asked, crouching down to pull at Charle’s collar and have him sit down. Charle still continued to bark even as Davis tried to calm the dog down. “Come on, boy, what is it?” He asked, looking around for any cats of anything. But no, Charle seemed to be parking at the forest. Was the dog still in there? Or was it the man who had called him a whole bunch of nasty and cruel names?
