Most people around town say that cloudy days come as if they are here to destroy the people, because whenever a day of clouds and rain comes, it’s usually a sight that points to one thing: death. After I was told this by Brian, looming over me in my bedroom, I couldn’t help but drag out my laptop and check it up. Sure enough, every time since 1910 when a storm has come to the town and it was cloudy all day long, someone has died of either murder, suicide, lightning strike or accidental death. I’m not saying the town is haunted or anything, but after seeing the ghost yesterday and learning what I did yesterday, I can’t help but think one thing: it’s possible. 2
Ever since 1910, when Lydia Plymouth was murdered by her father—or so they say—lightning storms have destroyed the people within the house I am currently residing in. In all cases, they were killed within their first day of being here. That is why Sophia, Jessica and Jorge were being the way they were yesterday, because they think I’m special and destined to do something. I don’t know about being destined to do something, except maybe take the superstition out of the town, but if it’s something other than that, then I don’t want to know. Maybe later, but not right now, though. 3
Brian is still in my room, but right now, he’s looking out the window, instead of staring at me and telling me random facts about the town. 4
“Sweetie, you know something?” he asks me and smiles down at me from the window. 5
I shake my head. “No, Brian. What do you know that I don’t?” I ask him in return.6
Brian smiles and taps the window. “You have company, maybe five or six people from school, and it also looks like your best friend from Texas has come over, too.” 7
I stand up and look out the window, straightening my leather skirt out, to where it isn’t showing anymore than I would like anyone to see in public. Yes, there are people in the yard and they’re walking their way toward the house. I notice Sophia, Jessica, Jorge, two random people I don’t know and my best friend from Texas, Lisa Martin. They’re all talking, other than the two random people, and they’re all dressed for the occasion—all dressed in either leather or lace or fashionable clothing. 8
Lisa knocks on the door and I head downstairs, Brian leaving away to his room and shutting the door behind me. I look at the door and continue my run down the stairs, opening the door after Lisa has used three different knocking routines. 9
She says in greeting, “Hi, sweet cheeks. I hope you have enough room in your living room for all of us. There are five people besides me coming this way.” She beams a smile and walks in without an invitation, because the invitation is in my eyes. “I love this place. I sure hope you don’t plan on moving away anytime soon, because, I mean, this house is rocking.” 10
I nod in approval of her compliment and let Sophia, Jessica and Jorge in, as well. I look at them for their approval of the two random people and they nod, letting me know they’re okay to come in. 11
“I’m Dora Moore,” one of the random girls says, holding her hand out for shaking. “You won’t notice me in school tomorrow, but I’ll bump into you to make sure you know of my presence. I believe we’ll be great friends.” She smiles and her teeth glimmer in the light, showing me she’s a Vampire. “I believe we’ll all get to know each other rather well over the next few weeks.” 12
Jorge shakes his head at the worried expression on my face. “Don’t worry, Skye. Dora is a good Vampire, and therefore, she won’t hurt you unless you provoke her, and at that time, she’ll probably suck all of your blood out.” He nods in approval of his own assessment and smiles slightly. 13
“I’m Kristi Macintosh,” the other random girl says. “I feel I would love to drink your blood, but I don’t desire it at all.” Her teeth do not glimmer at me, but instead, they glimmer in the direction of Lisa, who shrugs and smiles at me through a pained expression. 14
I look closer at Lisa and ask her, “Are you human?” 15
She hesitates before shaking her head. “No, I’m not a human. I’m also a Vampire. I don’t desire you, though, as a matter of fact. I desire Kristi.” They both smile at each other, blowing kisses. 16
I turn my head toward Kristi, who is holding out her hand and wanting to shake my hand. I hold mine out and shake her hand, and as I do, her eyes flutter and she draws in a deep breath, gasps for air and giggles afterward. Her eyes stare deeply at me, unmoving, for about half a minute. 17
I look at Jorge, who shrugs and says, “She has never smelled anyone as delicious as you.” 18
My mouth gapes open. “Oh,” I say, out of other words. 19
Kristi leans over to Dora and whispers something in her ear, at which they both get a giggle. Dora looks at Kristi, skeptically, and says, “That is weird, considering you don’t even desire her blood.” 20
Kristi nods. “Yeah; I know what you mean, Dora.” She hugs her Vampire friend and they both laugh at something unnoticeable by the human eye—though noticeable by people who are insane or are inhuman. 21
8:30am 22
After Jorge, Sophia and Jessica leave, I am left with the two Vampires and my best friend—who is also a Vampire—to keep me company. 23
Lisa smiles at me and leans in on me. “You do smell lovely. I don’t see how I didn’t suck your blood after I was turned two years ago… must have been my true friendship for you inside my dead soul,” she says and kisses my neck, giggling, licking me. 24
I pull away from her. “You know I’m straight, Lisa,” I tell her and brush the kiss off my neck. “And you really shouldn’t make me mad in front of two of your type.” I point at Kristi and Dora, who are both making foul jokes together and laughing at them, for no known reason. 25
Lisa whispers something indistinct in my ear, for which I can’t tell at all what it is until I realize it is in another language: 26
Lugar de su tumba, 27
Desaparecidos, preguntando alma. 28
Ahora está mi esclavo, 29
Tu corazón ya no en su conjunto. 30
Haz lo que yo digo y lugar. 31
Usted deberá vivir mi mentiras. 32
La muerte es sólo el comienzo.33
I have no idea what hardly any of the words mean, but she does look kind of freaky when she’s saying the words, so I ask, “What did you just now say? You better tell me.” 34
Lisa laughs. “We’ve started the process that only a Vampire would have the fucking guts to start,” she says and fingers my hair behind my ear. “That is all you should need to know… just remember that we may have saved your life by quoting that poem first.” 35
I ask, “But what did you just say?” 36
Kristi shoos her away just as she looks like she’s going to say something and says, instead, “We have summoned the dead girl named Lydia to take herself inside of your body. As she does, you will act differently… don’t ask how you will act differently, because we don’t know for sure. This has never been done. But seeing as the fate of the entire world relies on doing this to you, you got to take it as we do and just hope you don’t die as she inhabits you.” 37
I choke on my own spit and manage to mumble, “Alright. I’ll try my best.” 38
“Good,” Dora says and sits down beside me for a second. “See, since we did it first, that means we get a head start on whoever fucking decides to do it second. That also means you have a better fucking chance at getting rid of the girl from within you. If anything, the worst fucking thing to happen could be that you change in ways you couldn’t explain in any other way. And no worries, your father knows quite a bit about this fucking situation. He should be fine with it.” She smiles at me in a weird way and whispers, “I sure hope you got some guts, kid, because this shit is a mess.” 39
I whisper back, “Unless I decide to gut myself, I do still have guts.” I smile at her and we both laugh. 40
9am 41
After Dora and Kristi leave, I am left alone with Lisa, who seems to be extra perky, especially now that I know she’s a Vampire. I guess she has lots of blood today… maybe too much. I ask her, “So, are you on a healthy diet for a Vampire or is it something you really shouldn’t be doing?” 42
Lisa takes this as a surprising question, because she looks at the wall for a bit, her eyes widely set apart, in shock. Finally, she answers with, “I’m quite full. I should probably stop drinking from the necks of fat slobs. They’re just so easy to catch.” 43
I can’t help but laugh, and in imagining that Lisa would kill someone just to eat, I stop laughing. Instead, I look at Lisa and mention, “So, in a way, you’re a murderer.” 44
Lisa frowns and crosses her arms. “You really have no common fucking sense, do you, bitch?” she says to me, completely furious. “Asking that is like asking humans if they’re murderers of the planet just because they drink water from faucets. Blood is needed in my system, or else, I die… just as water is needed in your system.” 45
I nod in understanding. “I was just saying. I didn’t mean anything by it. How can I make it up to you?” I ask and hold onto her hand, squeezing it tightly. 46
“You can start by letting go or at least loosening your grip on my hand, sweet cheeks. Secondly, how about a kiss?” she asks and can’t help but giggle at herself. “I am such a lesbian.” 47
I nod. “Yes, I know you are. You don’t have to mention it a thousand times.” I say and pull her close, feeling awkward as I place my two lips on hers, and she takes me in, completely. 48
Lisa pulls me close, as well, running her tongue inside of my throat, pushing her tongue up against mine. “You’re so hot,” she says and continues kissing me, getting her reward for me being such a bitch. “I know what you should get as punishment, bad girl.” She motions for me to stand up, laughing. “Strip for me. Please let me lick you from the inside out.” 49
I nod, curtly. “I will not let you lick me anywhere near what you’re thinking of,” I say and add, slyly, “But I will strip.” 50
She laughs and claps her hands together, triumphantly. “Yes!” she says in celebration. 51
I stand up and look at the TV, directly in front of Lisa, who is eyeing me very intensively. I smile at her and slowly pull my black leather miniskirt down to my ankles, putting my thumbs inside the flaps of my black thong. My fishnets are still on, but underneath, they only cover my thighs and legs, not my ass on either side. I turn around, facing Lisa, and unbutton my vest one button at a time, slipping it off and hitting Lisa in the face with it in due time. I then unsnap my bra and let it fall to the ground, my thong coming closely after. I walk up to Lisa and dance in front of her the sexiest dance I’ve danced in quite some time—since Lisa’s seventeenth birthday, to be exact, when I actually let her touch me. 52
Lisa mentions, “You look even better than you did the last time I saw you naked, Have you been working out?” she smiles at me and stands up, starting her own personal strip. 53
I shake my head, continuing to dance, and as a knock issues at my bedroom door, I quickly grab my clothes and tell Lisa to stop stripping. We both sit down on the bed, quickly, and as Dodge enters, he smiles at the both of us. “What are you smiling at?” I ask him and I can’t help but smile at him. 54
He shrugs. “You know that Werewolves have extra keen sense of smell and hearing, but you don’t think I know what you two girls seem to like doing for the hell of it?” he asks and nods. “I don’t mind, though. I would actually—as perverted as this may seem—like to see it myself.” 55
I laugh. “Well, you can’t… you can actually feel it when we actually do it, but you can’t see girls fucking or dancing naked until you get married to me.” I smile at him and as he sits down, I reposition myself and sit down in his lap, kissing his neck and running my hands to his back, my arms wrapped around him tightly. 56
I look at Lisa from behind him and see that she’s looking on, sadly. I smile at her and she smiles back, but the smile doesn’t look as truthful as it did before Dodge came into the room. I know she’s in love with me, but it still pains me to see her look sad or to smile unhappily. I don’t like it at all and it hurts me. 57
I say in suggestion, “You know, you can probably get another girl who will actually be in love with you.” I look at her, sadly, and hope it gets a reaction. 58
Lisa shakes her head, trying not to cry, but as she tries not to, the tears start bursting out, her cries in whelps. “I can’t just do that. I am in love with someone who doesn’t even love me back, and if I did fake it with someone else, it would merely tear my non beating heart out!” she stomps out of the room and slams the door, making Dodge look upset in the way he does. It’s honest, yet he’s trying to remain calm. 59
I catch up to her and ask her, “Would it make you feel better if I told you that I will always be your best friend, no matter how many people you suck the blood out of and kill from now on?” I have her by both shoulders, her face pointing the same way mine is, so she can’t see my eyes and I can’t see hers. 60
Lisa turns around and looks into my eyes. “Would it matter to you if I sucked your blood? I mean, it wouldn’t hurt, not really… it would only sting and it would make you live forever. I wouldn’t kill you, I promise.” 61
I shake my head. “I don’t want to live forever. I want to see God one day, and you know that as well as I do,” I tell her and she looks solemnly into my eyes for a few seconds before moving her hands around my neck, my arms resting around her waist. 62
“I want to see God one day, too… but I’d have to be murdered, or else, I’d never see God. I’m not human anymore. I am eternally living, forever and ever and ever and ever.” She pulls me close and lays her head on my shoulder, softly crying. “But, yes, it does make me feel better to know you’re still my friend, even though I’m a monster in the streets.”63
I nod. “I could never be against you, Lisa. You’re my best friend and have been for a decade… at least. I couldn’t throw that away just because some bloodsucker decided to suck your blood and turn you into one of them.” I smile at her and kiss her cheeks, brushing her tears away as swiftly as I can. 64
Lisa goes to my right side and wraps her left arm around the back of my waist, and strides me toward the living room, where she sits down on the couch and sighs a deep breath. “I’m moving here in two months… my mother set it up for me.”65
I smile and laugh. “That is so cool, Lisa,” I say to her and snuggle close to her on the couch. “I hope you can stay here for a while.”66
Lisa grins. “Oh, it’s permanent. The only depending factor… is that we don’t know if that mobile home will be ready in time for the deadline. If not, we’ll be living two doors down from you on the grass.” She laughs and I join her, our hug tightening, and as the clock turns 11am, she stands up and heads toward the door, where she opens it and waves goodbye to me. “I hope you have a wonderful time without me, sweet cheeks.” She winks, walks out the door and slams it behind her. I hear her yell, “Whoo-hoo!” 67
I can’t help but laugh. I head into the kitchen, and at the sight of the spirit Lydia, I stare almost too closely, crossing my eyes. 68
“Follow me, dear. You have much to learn,” she says and slowly walks up the stairs. I follow her into whatever she is taking me to, not knowing, but hoping it’s something to help me understand the shit I’m into. 69
Right now, I am in way too deep. I hope I can crawl out. 70
