Class Rebel (part 11)

When we got to the principal's office the principal looked furious. He raised his eyebrows making the wrinkles on his forehead all crinkle together. He needed botox really badly. He just stared at me as I walked in. I took my place in my blue chair. Good thing Gabe or Vance hadn't taken it or we would have had another issue on our hands, and Maggie and Jason sad down on the other side of me.1

Vance and Gabe were fidgeting around a lot. It was quite obvious that they never got sent to the principal's office. I was ready to laugh. The principal noticed my grin, and called me out,2

"What could possibly be funny right now young man? You are in my office which means you are in trouble. AGAIN!" Mr. Mathews yelled. 3

"Well sorry it's hard to stay out of trouble around here. All the teachers are always watching me waiting for me to mess up, so what do you expect me to do when the teachers are freaking stalking me." I tried to joke around and loosen up all the tension. 4

"You are not funny Darrel, and watch your mouth." Mr. Mathews lectured. He looked at all of us again, and then sighed. "Well since we seem to be having such a big disagreement you can all sit outside and I'll talk to Gabe first to see what is going on, and don't even try to make up any lies." Mr. Mathews threatened us.5

"No worries Mr. M you know I'm always honest when it comes to school." I laughed as I walked out and sat in the hall with Vance, Maggie, and Jason. 6

Vance just glared at us while we waited in the hall. Maggie put her head on Jason's shoulder and fell asleep. Jason fell asleep after a while too. Vance just looked around anxiously. I was bored, and didn't know what to do. I needed something to do. It's too hard for me to sit around and just be quiet. Everyone knows that. 7

Gabe came out from the principal's office after a long time. He had an evil grin on his face. I don't know what he was grinning about, but I really hoped I didn't get suspended again. I was getting pretty close to getting kicked out of school. I would be in deep shit if I got kicked out. Vance went into the office, and we sat there in silence for a long time before Vance came out.8

Maggie and Jason got a nice nap while they waited for him. Maggie went in the office next and came out looking really upset. I wondered what was wrong. Jason told me to go next so he could talk to Maggie. Reluctantly I went into the office. 9

"Well Darrel what is your side to this story?" Mr. Mathews asked. 10

I told him what had happened honestly, and let him know every last detail so he knew I couldn't be making it up. He frowned after I was done.11

"What?" I asked. 12

"Are you sure this is what happened?" Mr. Mathews asked. 13

"Yeah, I was right there how could I be wrong?" I argued.14

"Well I've heard a bunch of different stories, and none of them seem to be making sense to me. I think you kids are all lying to me." he sneered. 15

"Well I'm not, and I might be a lot of things, but I ain't a liar." I said and then walked out.16

Jason went in the office, and then came out with Mr. Mathews. 17

"Well three days of detention for all of you. I seem to have one true story. Vance and Gabe you shouldn't lie. Maggie since you threw the first punch you can help clean the cafeteria after school." Mr. Mathews said and walked back into his office.18

Maggie frowned and, started walking back to class. We followed her. "Hey are you sure you're ok?" Jason asked Maggie.19

"No they're pricks and all they get is detention, and I have to clean the cafeteria. If anything they should be in there with me. It's dumb they always get what they want. It's dumb. It would be nice if just once they had to deal with what the rest of us have to deal with." Maggie said. 20

"Yeah no kidding." Jason added.21

"Come on guys cheer up. It's just detention, and Maggie the lunch ladies always have the cafeteria cleaned by after school all you have to do it take out the trash. It's happened millions of times to me dude." I said trying to get them to cheer up. I hate when people are upset. It just doesn't go well with my personality.22

We walked back into class and sat in our seats where we always sat. Lawson and Gabe sure didn't want to sit in our seats now that they got in trouble for it. Maggie put her head on her desk, and fell asleep. Jason and I spent the rest of the hour being annoying. 23

English was an alright class, but I still needed something to do. I rolled up a little ball of paper and threw it at him. He just gave me a dirty look at first, but I was still bored. I threw a few more pieces of paper at him before he started throwing them back. 24

"Dude you’re an idiot." Jason said as he threw a huge wad of paper at me. 25

"I don't care dude I'm bored. Maggie…" I said, as I tapped her shoulder. She pushed my hand away and scooted back in her chair farther. "Come on sleeping beauty wake up. You've had a bad day, but too bad you're going to help me throw paper at Jason." I smiled. Maggie woke up and smacked me in the back of the head playfully. "Now is that anyway to treat your friend?" I asked.26

"Yeah I'm incredibly nice to you for as much as you annoy me. Darrel why'd you have to wake me up. I was having such a nice nap!" Maggie complained. Suddenly Jason threw a whole bunch of paper at me.27

"Jason!" I shouted loudly. Everyone in class looked at me. Jason turned around and looked out the window. Everyone went back to what they were doing and I continued annoying Jason. Instead of siding with me Maggie started throwing even more paper at me. It was annoying.28

Then Mrs. Walter walked over. "You guys just want to get in more trouble don't you?" she asked.29

"No I'm just trying to have fun." I replied.30

"Well too bad this is class you can have fun after school." She said, as she walked away. I just laughed. Mrs. Walter was dumb for some reason she thought I actually took her seriously. I don't take anyone or anything seriously.31

The phone rang suddenly. I hoped it wasn't me in trouble again. It would have been the third time in only an hour. She wasn't talking loud enough for me to hear what was going on. I was really curious. 32

"Jason, go to the office. You're not in trouble." Mrs. Walter said. Jason looked a little worried for him it was usually something bad when he got called to the office. It was usually something about his dad or brother. His mom always waited until he got home to tell him anything. Jason got up and walked to the office. 33

"I wonder what that's all about." Maggie said after Jason left. 34

"Me too." I replied. I got to work on my dumb English assignments so I didn't have too much homework that night. I usually do though since I never shut up. It's weird that I even bother with homework since I hate school, but most of the time I do it. Mostly it's just to keep passing so I don't have to listen to my mom yell at me about school. 35

Jason came back in the room. 36

"What'd the office want?" I asked.37

"It was my brother he said since he's home for this weekend that he's gonna bring us Pizza Hut and chocolate dunkers for lunch. He's buying me food…. I wonder what he wants." Jason stated. 38

"Who cares we don't have to eat cafeteria nastiness." Maggie said.39
