The year two thousand and five has seen astronomical disasters
Happening around the world. When will such ferocity stop?
Earthquakes, Tsunamis, Hurricanes we expect but not to this extent!2
Yet man was given freedom of choice. Some have abused it drastically
Every time a bomb goes off lives are lost, children left orphans.
As war and terrorism continues to occur, never knowing who’s next,
Releasing death and destruction to innocent people, it must stop!3
Two thousand and five is a year seven cycle, glad to see it end.
When we enter an eight year cycle next year it will be with a hope
Of more stability and peace to reign in our world once more.4
The children of the future look to us to leave them a legacy.
Hearing their voices is what we must listen to-they are our future
Our hope that life will return to some stability and work as one
Unless this occurs the world will continue in disharmony and chaos.
Stand up now the children of the future let us hear your voices
As the world is a wonderful place worth fighting for! It’s our home.
Nowhere can we go, we must heed the warnings and teach our children
Destroying the earth is not the answer. We have the spirit to carry on.5
All around our world we have beautiful places that exist and thrive.
Never give up hope our spirits are strong we can survive anything
Dished out to us to deal with we ARE strong, our spirit is strong.6
Forever we will go on into eternity as that’s the way we are made.
I have hope, courage and faith that we’ll remain strong and I have
Visions of life on earth as we the older generation grew up in.
Earth is the only home we have, let’s return it to it’s former beauty.7

year 7 cycle...if you add 2005 2+5=7

i'm not sure what happened in your neck of woods in auzzie land, but you pegged it brilliantly with your poem as the states were hit hard with much devastation in 2005. the aftermath is still felt in louisianna. speaking of destruction, i was in the path of it myself as the south region of the states was hit super hard with tornadic activity. many deaths, but they were lower than expected with the comparison of all the damage that ocurred. you would have thought that the death toll would have been in the high hundreds. i'm just glad that it was low. was a night many will remember for the rest of their life, i ca vouch for that, luvya, DARK.

very nice
very nice! i would have to say it is very neat! however, to be a bit on the technical side, there is no "and" in two thousand five. but over all very good!

Brilliance Heavenly Gold
Dear Angelica, Queen of the Harem,
Your light faith purity is your candle of love
Your words burn bright heaven sent from above
In your song I feel the many blessing from heaven
The grace and beauty of your last line a circle seven
Your love resonates deep within my heart
As a child of the earth wind sky
I awake in the beauty in your eyes.
I’ve seen the masters of war
I believe in the miracle seen before
There is only folly in “death and destruction”
I’ve seen the innocent children buried in the mud
As I pray to the Lord for his eternal blessing above.
Amen seven times seven in your prayers to heaven.
For the sake of the children unnamed let us light a candle in the rain.
Beautifully penned I feel in your beauty I’m drifting in the Lords Kingdom.

Negative cycles can not be avoided for duality of the way of life
so until we can see that all is but one and to do harm to another is to harm yourself, we will be destined to repeat the failures
of past. I once wrote a poem called
The problem of all of life's troubles which consisted of just
the word....Groups...for as long as each group thinks it is the answer and the only way and each has it's own agenda we will continue down the road of ruin.
Denial can never cover truth for long, for eventually it
does leak out and once we see the in helping others we help
ourself and that tolerance and compassion are the keys to
understanding then we may finally start living as one...

Brilliant!
Yes, and to read it in the paper, to hear it on TV, I often stop and ponder my thoughts of what is going to happen next! If the natural calamity disaster is being caused by global warming and then earth's inner core will soon going to disintegrate and blowing the entire planet earth into tiny bits and pieces and there will be no more tomorrow to come. It is scary to think and we are just hoping and continue on having the belief that this world will be better for the children which are our hope for the future!
This is so good that it made me pause, think and really ponder my thoughts! To top it all, it is an acrostic which is really hard to do, but you did perfectly, expressed with messages so brilliant and purely amazing! Great work Joan! You are such a gifted poet!

Thank you darling Gypsy for the wonderful comment and compliment.. I was a bit worried about posting it, but I'm glad I did now, when these thoughts come through I just have to trust my intuition, listen to my inner voice, it never steers me wrong. I tried to do it just as a story, but couldn't quite get what I wanted to say, so I put it in Acrostic form and it worked out perfectly.

Joan, I could not agree with you more here. This piece is absolutely outstanding. It is very powerfully done, factual and I must say one hell of an awesome acrostic. It grips you and give you no choice but to read every word of it. The conviction, the solid tone of logic and reality just can not be ingored. This is one of those writes that should be read by all and bookmarked for the future. Our earth is so very imporant and it is abused horribly and taken for granted. Perhaps people just do not realize that the earth will destroy us before it is itself destroyed
Magnifient job on this my friend. Blessings and Hugs,
Gypsy

Excellent Acrostic
Yes, we should be good stewards of the earth and one another. May Holy spiritual love and respect rain down on all of us like manna from heaven and fill our souls with spiritual food of forgiveness and love for the earth and one another. Amen and Amen. -
Thank you Margaret for your wonderful comment, yes it's about time our leader's woke up and looked at a way of solving the problems we have today. We have to have hope and thats the amazing thing, no matter how bad things get, our spirit to survive is strong and everyone bands together when tragedies strike.

Well done Joan!
It seems that we are caught in a cycle of nihilism and despair, with the world's population continuing to increase beyond any historic level. When I was 15, the world's population was 3 billion, and now it has doubled, which is a burden to the earth.
I agree with you, it seems to me that we have caused our misfortunes, and yet I have hope. In a large population there are proportionally the same number of geniuses, inventors and leaders, but absolutely, we have many more. There is a way through our current problems, we must not give up.
This is a fabulous topic, and your acrostic presents your thinking very well.

awesome piece... you have written the truth here.. I hope that many people get a chance to read this.

Mainly the change in the weather all over the World has been so devastating, let's hope next year will be better. But we have to be optimistic and believe everything will change, especially with terrorism Thank you for your wonderful comment my friend.

Dear Bea,
This year 2005 has indeed been an 'Annus horribilis' from a global perspective although it is a year that for me personally, is marked by your visit to Christchurch and our meeting. I realise however that this milestone, though monumental for me, is insignificant in terms of world events.
Your story, unusually constructed as an acrostic, carries much power and truth and the picture that accompanies it is aptly chosen. Applause and thanks for your profound warning.
Love and hugs, XXX Hugh.
