I am all but a shadow in the night.
I make not a sound as I walk.
I stop in my tracks as a scent crosses my nose.
I knew immediately it was a lone deer.1
I turn my head to the starry sky.
A howl begins erupting from deep within me;
The sound echoes throughout the silent woods.
I soon hear the falling footsteps of my pack.2
We silently stalk from all directions.
Our attack is quick and lethal.
The deer had no chance to react.
Many howls seen erupt through the night
In rejoice of our marvelous prize.3
The cold, crisp air blows across my body
Sending shivers down my spine.
It ruffles my beautiful fur coat.
The smell of the fresh kill begins to call me.4
But I stop and look around me.
The snow is ice cold under my paws.
The snow sparkles in the moonlight.
I soon join my fellow wolves in the
Dining of our delicious meal.
