I've always loved Near more than Mello. It hurts me to be writing this, but it has slowly-and secretly-been eating at me inside. I cannot bear to hold on anymore, or I will break down and cry. I will always love Near more. Even if he dies. Mello, if you are reading this, I am truly sorry. I will understand if you never want to see me again. But...please. Try and try to forgive me.

HAHAHAHA! Perhaps i read this wrong but i interpret this as a hopeless Death Note fan declaring their love for a generally less popular character. Reminds me of when you a kid and all your friends love rock music and you like pop and confessing that is the hugest thing in the world.
I could be way off but my interpretation made me laugh. -
