Why I write, if you really wanted to know

Well, this may sound arrogant, but I write because I'm out to be the best. One day I want to stand up to the likes of Stephen King, Chuck Palahniuk, and John Grisham. But even more than that, I want to be able to stand up to authors like Mark Twain, John Steinbeck, William Shakespeare, Herman Melville, and Walter Miller Jr. 1

When I start to make a name for myself I want to put out something amazing, something people will recognize around the world. I don't want to be praised for my goofy plot twists, and lame ass characters like Stephanie Meyer. I want one of my books to be the bestselling novel since the fucking bible. That's how I want it and I will fight for that until the day I die. Call me a poor excuse for an author now, but I'll make it there one day. 2

I promise.

Not arrogant. Truth is truth, and that's all I asked for. Besides what could possibly be better than being considered (and remembered) standing on the very same pedestal as Twain and Melville?
To be the best... not arrogant... honorable, I should think.
