And They Call This Tragedy, chapter 13

I woke up what seemed like hours later and got off the floor. Unplugging my stereo, I took my shirt off and walked to the bathroom to clean up my arm, which was covered in blood. I turned the shower on and undressed, throwing my clothes in the small hamper next to the toilet. I turned the shower onto the hottest setting and got in, letting the water run over my body untill it turned my skin red.1

I scrubbed my arm with a rag, and it started bleeding again. I let my blood go down the drain and waited for it to stop bleeding. I got out, tossed a towel over me and went to my room, and looked at the clock. It was 2 in the morning. Shit, I thought. How long was I passed out?2

I went to my stereo, plugged it back in, and put Hawthorne Heights back in. I went to bed, falling asleep to the sound of Ohio Is For Lovers.3

"Anna! Wake up," Shannon yelled. I groaned and rolled over. I realized I hadn't gotten dressed and threw the towel over me.5

"What happened to your arm?" she asked, looking at my arm, then at the broken glass, the blood on the floor, then back at my arm.6

"Nothin'" i muttered, getting out of bed and walking to my closet.7

"Yeah. Well, your caseworker is on her way to come get you. So get your shit ready," she said.8

"I'm not going back there i said!" I yelled.9

"Why don't you go visit Hirak?' my roommate said, walking in out of nowhere. I guess Shannon told her about Hirak jumping off a building. I started crying again and fell to the floor.10

"Emo bitch," she muttered. 11

They walked out of the room, leaving me on the floor. I stayed there for a few minutes untill my roommate poked her head back in.12

"I did mean, when i told you to visit Hirak, go kill yourself. It would be much better for everyone if you were dead." she said nastily, then left the room and slammed the door. I sat up, and took a few hard punches at the floor. My knuckle started bleeding as I got off the floor and went to my closet, still crying.13

Walking down the street in Downtown Portland, I arrived at the same building Hirak had leaped off the other day. I broke my window earlier, climbed out, and ran from the foster home, and from Shannon. I didn't care anymore.15

I had to hitch a ride all the way down here. It took forever for someone to even stop for me. 16

I entered the building and started climbing the stairs. 17

It took me what seemed like years(In reality it was only 25 minutes) to get to the roof. Tears ran down my face as the scene with Hirak on this roof played in my head. I just wish I could have done something different so he'd still be alive. I know it was my fault he jumped. He told me he'd loved me since he first met me. And I had to move to a new home, to a new school. 18

I walked over to the edge, and looked over. I saw a few people who were walking on the sidewalk, stop and look up at me. I backed away as I saw one pull out a cell phone. I walked over to the other side, looked over, and took a deep breath. No one was there.19

I stepped onto the ledge, my heart started beating faster. I froze for a few seconds. Then, I jumped.20

"Don't worry Hirak. I'll be with you soon."
