My World, My Way

“What do you mean the Earth blew up?” a tired masculine voice asks as I entered the gates of heaven.
“That chick Amy James, she blew up the Earth like 5 minutes ago.” A pudgy woman in a cheap polyester suit says to the person belonging to the tired voice.
I walk up to them and they look at me disapprovingly.
“Um, yeah, I’m Amy James…” I say.
“Oh, yeah you follow me.” The woman says.
Reluctantly, I follow her and enter a building, down a hallway and into a room that looked like a combinations of a throne room and a court room. God sat in a throne-like chair the middle of the room and he had a sad sort of expression and I knew it was my fault. He was an elderly looking man, looking to be about sixty, with a neatly trimmed graying beard and a sparse amount of grey hair on his scalp.
“Amy James, I’m assuming you know why you’re here.” The man in the chair asks me as I make my way up to the front of the room. I felt like a ruffian being sent to the principal’s office.
“Yes sir.” I say looking at my feet.
“Now, how exactly did this happen?” he asks.
“I sneezed and knocked over a chemical in my high school lab class and it kind of vaporized the world.” I say shifting uncomfortably under his stern gaze.
“Well lucky for you I have an idea for you to gain redemption.” He says.
“But it was an accident, what happened to ‘the as long as you believe God will let you in heaven’?” I say shocked.
“That was because I didn’t think anyone would destroy the earth, I mean who does that?” he asks.
“Apparently me.” I mumble.
“Anyways, I’ll give you a chance to redeem yourself if you agree to fix the world, and I don’t just mean put it back to the way it was I mean make it better, and I’ll assign one of my angels to help you, think of it as a quest.” He says.
“Um, no offense or anything but why can’t you do it? It only took you seven days last time, I’m sure it would take me more than that to do this.” I say.
“You need to learn a lesson.” He says.
“Fine whatever, you know what I accept I’m going to make the best damn earth ya’ll have ever seen, and I’m not going to make stupid animals like the freaking duckbilled platypus, seriously what the heck were you thinking?” I say slipping into a slight southern accent.
“Um yeah, that wasn’t my idea.” He says.
“And the echidna, like did you have extra parts and just stuck them together?” I ask.
“Pretty much.” He says with a shrug.
“Anyways, who’s my partner?” I ask begrudgingly.
“My son.” He says.
“What you mean Jesus?” I ask incredulously.
“No I mean my other son, Jett.” He says.
I notice a figure leaning against a doorway and from the weary look God cast towards that area, the figure must be Jett.
“Who knew the bringer of the apocalypse would be hot?” Jett says while walking over to lean against the throne.
I blush slightly but examine him from the corner of my eye, and a similar thought crosses my mind. He had golden blond hair and Caribbean blue eyes that sparkled with mischief. He was tall and muscular and wore a classy black leather jacket, a black t-shirt and black skinny jeans with a pair of neon green converse and a single leather glove with silver studs on the knuckles. I gave him props for style, the rest of the people, or angles I suppose, that I had seen had been wearing either suits or those terrible white robes. I saw God roll his eyes but that was the last I saw of heaven before I was standing on what was Earth at one point, with Jett standing across from me looking around.
“I’m impressed, I was expecting something a lot less thorough.” He says.
“It was an accident.” I mumble.
“Well luckily you didn’t kill all the plant life, we won’t have to start from scratch.” He says nudging a sickly bush with his foot.
I look around and observing that there were no buildings or structures, humans or animals, just sickly looking plants and I lean against a tree laughing at the irony of it.
“What are you laughing about?” Jett asks.
“All this, I mean, I was just a normal girl, and now I’m stuck recreating the world that I accidentally destroyed, like how the heck does this happen? I thought everything happened for a reason.” I say sliding down the tree to sit on the ground.
“Oh don’t worry, it does, but not all the plans are God’s.” he says with a slight smirk.
“What did you do?” I ask suspiciously.
“Oh, nothing to you but I try make the world interesting, adding little things like the duckbilled platypus when things need a little kick.” He says with a laugh.
“You’re crazy.” I say shaking my head.
“So I’ve been told. But trust me, this happened for a reason, it’s similar the new age version of the flood, only it went a little far.” He says smiling at me making it hard not to grin back.
“Come on, we’ve got a lot of work ahead of us.” He says holding out his gloved hand to help me up.
When I’m standing I watch as he brushes the fingertips of his ungloved hand against the sickly bush. I watch as it buds into new life the leaves greening up and unfolding. Jett notices me staring and winks at me.
“What? Just because Jesus is in the bible he should get all the cool powers?” he says with a laugh.
“What’s it like?” I ask.
“What, being god’s illegitimate son? It’s alright, but Jesus, that guy is such a prude, he acts all high and mighty but even with all the powers he’s still human.” He says with a shrug.
“That’s not what I meant,” I say.
“Oh, what did you mean?” he asks seeming slightly surprised.
“What’s it like to have that kind of power, I mean if I had it I would have started my own planet or something.” I say.
“Hmmm…I guess I never really thought about that kind of thing, I was always doing other stuff.” He says, after a moment of thought.
“Oh, maybe that’s the difference in humans and angels.” I say to myself softly enough that he couldn’t hear.
“You know, I’ve always wanted to come down here, and when I finally do there aren’t any people.” He says with a short laugh.
“What? I’m not a person?” I ask.
“That’s not what I meant, I meant… never mind.” He says running his ungloved hand through his hair restlessly.
“No tell me.” I say.
“It’s nothing,” he says shaking his head.
“It’s so quiet.” I say after a moment.
“Yeah it’s kind of creepy.” He says.
I lean against the tree again and I stare at the ground deep in thought until Jett lies down in the spot I was staring at.
“What are you doing?” I ask with a laugh.
“Giving you something to stare at.” He says with a smirk.
I slide down to sit on the ground with my back against the tree and he rolls over and props himself up on his elbows.
“So what is the plan?” I ask.
“God only knows.” He says and I smile slightly at the pun.
“Well then God better tell us.” I mumble.
Jett glances up at me curiously for a moment before shaking his head slightly and looking away again. His gloved finger traces the outline of my foot on my flip-flop and I shiver slightly at the feel of cool leather fluttering over my skin. He smiles to himself and looked very peaceful in that moment.
“What are you thinking about?” I ask quietly afraid to break the silence.
His eyes flicker towards mine for a moment before looking down again.
“The grass.” He says softly.
“Why?” I ask.
“It keeps me from thinking about other things.” He says.
“Like what?” I ask.
“Just things I shouldn’t be thinking about.” He says firmly.
I frown slightly, still curious but not stupid enough to pry further. I reach out to brush a few strands of hair out of his face but he jerks his head away and I pull my hand back quickly. I stand up abruptly and walk away.
“Where are you going?” he calls.
“For a walk.” I say.

    Sure continue away

It was a nice story, cute. I don't mind God having many children he can have as many as he wants. Why does he have to be illigetimate and if God makes the rules who made him, Jett, unlawful? Just a thought maybe second son or some other description would make more sense. But it was engaging and fun.

Thanks for commenting, and Jett is "illegitimate" because he is always in Jesus' shadow, it's just his way of complaining that Jesus has more privileges and stuff like that, sorry for it being a tad bit confusing.

Hahaha! I LOVE it! That is so good. YES you should continue! I wanna know what happens! It's very funny, but also with a hint of seriousness. You did well in describing the characters, I could definately see their personalities.
I respect the fact how you can poke a little fun with God and Heaven and all that. It would take a lot of courage.
About half way through the story you sort of stop describing things and go straight into dialogue so I would suggest maybe descrbing a little more? Also, you should try really hard to not use the word "like" so much. It gets really annoying after awhile and there are so many other words you could use. But, that's just my opinion. ^.^
Once more, I LOVED it and I want to read more. <3

    beginning: 5, language: 5, plot: 5, ending: 5, dialog: 4, characters: 5.
