I have had a lot of things happen to me in my life that I view as "turning points" in my life that has made me who I am today. The first thing that had an impact on me was my parents divorce when I was three years old. My mom walked out and left us without a goodbye and no explanation to my dad. It was hard for me because I practically grew up and lived my whole life without having a mom by my side. It was hard not having her to help me with things girls need their moms for. Starting when I was ten, through when I was 12, I got to spend summers with my mom which had a impact because I got to have some time with my mom that I missed out on for so many years. All the times my dad and my mom fought also had an impact because when I see them fight I was sad and I just wanted them to get along. Then my dad wasn't as willing to let us see her either. The next thing that had an impact on me happened when I was 16. Thanks to a good friend, I met a wonderful guy, fell in love and got my first, real boyfriend who I dated for nearly 4 months. It was special because it was my first time of experiencing dating, being in love and having a broken heart. I believe the experience made me a better person in so many ways and I learned a lot of lessons and things from the relationship I know I could never forget. The next thing that happened that was a turning point happened to me when I was 17 and it was in June of 2004. I found out from my dad that our house was sold and we were going to be moving to Ohio to be with his fiancé. I remember so many emotions ran through my mind. When the time came to move, it was sad for me. It's the worst feeling when you realize you are leaving everything and everyone you know behind you. It was worse when I was living in Ohio, I missed my friends so much and wanted nothing more than to be back in Minnesota and to go back there. Once school started for me I did miss them but I was more focused on school and my classes. Since then, it's gotten better since I have made a friend. I just try to take it all a day at a time and deep down I know first I'm going to graduate from Gahanna Lincoln High School and as a future goal I will move back to Minnesota where my friends are. I think all these things are turning points in my life because they taught me life is precious and things can change and happen to you at anytime so you shouldn't take that all for granted because it can be gone at anytime and you need to be aware and be prepared for that happening. So many people and things in my life helped me to be who I am today and taught me how things can change at anytime even if you don't want them to.2
