When I politely disagree with you1
I'm lying.2
Yes, you are being unruly.3
'Where are you going?'4
'What time will it be over?'5
'You're not sneaking out to see HIM are you?'6
Yes, actually I am.7
I am a master of sneak,8
But I'm going to tell you that I am going to see him9
Especially since I go behind your back and see him all the time.10
Come on now.11
When have I ever done something like that?12
What happened to us?13
When you say I think you're being overprotective14
And I politely disagree15
I'm lying.16
Yes, you are WAY too overprotective.17
I was 15 years old and didn't have a curfew.18
Now, suddenly, in my last year of high school, 19
I have to call you when I get where I am going20
When I am leaving21
And several times in between, just for good measure.22
WHAT IS GOING ON?!23
I don't know this person24
That has taken over your body cavity,25
But I don't like them.26
I want them to go away so that my freedom can come back27
Because this new you,28
Scared it away. Possibly for good.29
So please, go away.30
Let the old you come back, because we ALL MISS IT.
Author notes
I should probably let you all know that this isn't finished yet. At least, it doesn't feel finished. I wrote for the next poetry slam at my school that I will be competing in.
