Silver

 Silver 1

Another long night on the poles.  Her thighs were aching. She had long ago abandoned her stilettos but her feet were still sore.  God I hate this place. Reeks of alcohol and piss! Mentally she counted out her money. Sweet. 'Nough to cover rent.  So takin' a night off!  Sophie can cover for me. Over the blaring music, she heard someone yelling her name.  Sliding down the pole, she spotted an older man in jeans and a forest, button-up shirt, propped against the bar.  She was a favorite of his. He was always sliding big tips on stage.  Unlike the other sleazy groupies, he was a gentleman.  2

3

"Hey, Henry!" she yelled, strutting over to him. 4

5

"Beautiful Jezebel, you dazzle me tonight," he said checking out her curvy figure.  Wearing her new silver-sequined corset, she leaned his way and laughed. The flashing lights reflected off of her corset, blinding Henry with tiny lights like diamonds. 6

7

"Yeah, in part ‘cuz this shows off my boobs," she teased flipping back her brunette hair. 8

9

"I'm a man right?" His styled grey hair and wrinkles didn't erase his handsome face. 10

11

"Sure," she said straddling his lap. She could feel his heart beat fasten. 12

13

"Jezebel, marry me!" His hazel eyes prodded hers.  14

15

"Huh? What do you...," she stumbled out of his lap.16

17

Henry interrupted. "I'll take care of you, Jez. Marry me. You must know I love you." Jezebel did know he loved her. He told her that night after night. If I marry him, I could escape this life of back lane bars and allies.18

The next evening Sophie danced at Jezebel's club to cover for her. Through the flashing lights, Sophie could just barely make out the clock. Dang it! I'm going to be late!  She was meeting her grandfather for dinner.  She smiled.  After dad left, grandpa let me and mom move in. He watched all my ball games and taught me how to drive.  Grandpa paid for her college, but now while she searched for work, she was determined to pay her own way.  Shift's done! Jumping off stage and running through the haze, she dodged behind the curtains to the dressing room, the smell of make-up and sweat greeting her.  Jez was right.  Dancing does makes good money.  Only temporary though.  My college degree is not for this! At the sound of curtains opening Sophie twirled around, blond hair flying as she pulled on a robe over her red bikini.20

"Jez!" she said surprised her best friend had come to the club tonight. "What're you doing? I just danced your gig." Being friends with Jez for years, Sophie knew from Jez's sparkling brown eyes something big had happened.  22

23

"Guess what!" 24

25

"What?" 26

27

"I got married!" 28

29

"What? When?" 30

31

"Just an hour ago. That's why I had you cover for me." 32

33

Henry strolled in the dressing room.  He stopped suddenly when he saw the two friends.34

35

"Henry, meet my best friend!" Jezebel called. Sophie blinked. Shock filled her face. 36

37

"Soph, what's wrong?" Jezebel asked, puzzling over Sophie's obvious distress.38

39

Sophie shifted her eyes to Henry. "Hello, grandfather."40

It's great... Not that I liked the beginning a lot. Nice cliffhanger though.
