Emo Academy 3- Chapter One: Terrible Welcomings

The academy was exactly the same-- same faded sign, same victorian look, same aura, same everything. A bit boring, if you ask me. I looked at my violin in my left hand, and shook my head. I started to walk towards the large steps when something caught my foot.1

Before I could react, I fell over, catching myself on my hands. I heard giggles behind me. Angry and humiliated, I shot up and turned behind me to see who the culprit was. Standing there was none other than Garnet Loveless.2

She hadn't changed at all. Her jet black hair was still longer than anything on Earth, and her deep green eyes had a sparkle of mischief in them. That playful smirk sat upon her face as I glared at her, just about ready to punch.3

"Come on, Torren," she said, a teasing edge in her voice, "Don't all friends do this stuff?"4

"Friends?" I growled, picking up my things, "Just last year you were trying to kill me."5

"Oh come now, that was then, this is now!"6

"Whatever. That still doesn't give you a right to call me a friend."7

"Torren," she laughed, "I--"8

"Garnet," a voice that I knew well came from behind me. Her younger brother, Jason, had his eyebrow arched. Next to him was Vincent, emo as ever.9

"Knock it off, Garnet," Jason sighed and looked at me, "You alright?"10

"Just dandy," I grumbled, and shot a glare at Garnet, "Be glad we're in public. If we weren't, I swear to God, I would--"11

"Rape her?" Vincent asked, his eyes blank as ever. Garnet and Jason broke into laughter.12

"Hell no! Your mind works wrong!" I seethed. 13

"By the way, Vince," Garnet said, "What happened to your hair?"14

I stopped to look at his hair. It was different. The tips weren't white anymore; they matched his now black-purple hair. 'So he got tired of his old hair,' I thought, 'Stupid.'15

"Well, this is my original color," he replied bluntly.16

"No way! Why did you dye it? It looks so pretty!" she told him flirtatiously. More like annoying.17

"That's exactly why I dyed it," he narrowed his eyes at her, "All the so-called 'compliments' got annoying." Garnet giggled.18

"Hey, where's Elena?" I asked, changing the subject.19

"I dunno. I think she went to the--"20

"Here I am!" a perky voice said behind me. I turned ot late to find Elena, her arms outward as she was puncing on me. 21

"Oh crap," I muttered under my breath, and was immediately tackled in a mega-glomp.22

"Hey Torren!"23

"What's with you woman?! I already fell down once!" I looked up to the others. Predictably, they were laughing. I growled and slid away from her grasp. I brushed the dirt off my shirt as I stood up. Elena followed. 24

I noticed her once regular dirty blonde hair was now spiked, with either black or dark brown streaks. As if the school would allow that. She noticed I was looking at her hair.25

"Yeah, sweet huh?" she grinned26

"I guess... but are you sure the school will allow it?"27

"Oh, sure. I just talked to Ms. Pierce. She said that it'd be completely fine."28

Before anything else could happen, I realized everybody else was rid of their bags and belongings. It hadn't even gone inside the school yet. I told them that I'd be back after I put my things away.29

As I was walking up the marble stairs of Edgar Mauricew O'Neil Academy, I took out a slip of paper from my pocket. 'Room 666...' I thought, 'That really doesn't sound good. With my luck, it'll probably be even worse than it sounds.'
