Kagami awoke with a new perspective on how she would handle her day. She decided the first thing she needed to do is figure out what Dan was and wasn't comfortable with. That doesn't mean that she couldn't try and coerce some favorable answers out of him with a little bit of incentive in the way of food. She began, as she usually did for no one but herself or occasionally her sisters, making breakfast.1
She figured Dan would be wanting lots of meat, so she took the bacon out of his freezer and fried it up. This was followed by eggs, some fruit, and a nice tall cup of extra strong espresso. She quickly duplicated the plate for herself, serendipitously finishing at the same time as Dan woke up.2
"Hello Puppy," Kagami bubbled,; loving her joke, "How did you sleep."3
"Me, fine; but my pillow may not be in the same boat" replied Dan, holding up a tattered piece of cloth with some feathers falling out.4
"Well, that happens to the best of us."5
"It does, does it?" asked Dan, wondering if it really did happen to the best of them.6
"So I made breakfast for the both of us, and I figured we could talk about last night while we ate."7
"That sounds good" regurgitated Dan, not wanting to go back to that thought, but not willing to tell Kagami that.8
Kagami passed Dan his plate and coffee and they sat down at Dan's overly elegant glass table. Dan looked a little nervous, but Kagami seemed to make him feel a little more at ease, as she always seemed to do. 9
"So Dan," Kagami interjected into the silence, "I'm sorry about last night, It's just that I can't get over you."10
"It's okay, I just don't think that I am ready to go that far."11
"Why not though, it's not like we don't know each other."12
"That's it exactly. We've known each other for less than a week, and we are already sleeping in the same household."13
"Dan, the circumstances are different, we were made for each other"14
"I know, but part of me is saying we should wait."15
"Dan, I respect your decision, but is there anything that could, you know, hasten the process?"16
"Well, an impromptu marriage wouldn't be all that bad."17
"How would we arrange it?"18
"I'm sure your sisters would help."19
"I guess they might."20
"You guess? They would be all over this" Dan said, getting in to his idea.21
"I guess you are right, they would get a kick out of it." Kagami paused to think, "Okay, I'm in."22
"Great, then we have some phone calls to make."23
And thus phone calls were made, Kira and Kiara drove over, and they all walked out to a clearing in the woods. Upon reaching the spot, Kiara reached into her purse and pulled out a bible that she had placed a copy of the vows in. Kagami then surprised Dan by shifting into her half wolf-half human form. Dan couldn't help but follow, almost not being able to stop the transformation in his eagerness.24
The ceremony went on for a while, the vows were made, and the two now ceremonially married wolves walked back to their house, while the twins walked off in the other direction.25
"Hey Kagami, I'll race you back to the house."26
"You're on puppy!"27
"Would you quit saying that"28
"No." With that, the two of them were off, rapidly encroaching on the end of the forest. Dan noticed another shape off in the distance, dismissing it as one of the twins, coming back for some reason or another. That remained his theory until he was cut off by the Lycan in front of him. This was not going to end well for him.29
"I thought I told you to stay away from her, boy. It looks like I will have to teach you a lesson about listening."30
Dan yelled out to try to get someone's attention, but all he got out was the raspy beginning of an H when he was caught off guard by a blow to the ribs that must have knocked the wind out of him, because he couldn't talk anymore.31
"I bet you already bred her up, you filthy mutt. You are going to wish you never were born." and with that, Dan's vision went black.
