The Fall to Earth1
Lucifer thought, as he lay amidst the beautiful woman, ’How does one reach the earth again?’ Lucifer thought this only because he was tired of this heavenly place. He craved the earth again, to walk amongst the living, for he could not remember how living felt. The woman around him were tending to his wants and wills: feeding him grapes off of the purest of vines, serving him the juices of every fine fruit known to god and man. Lucifer was tended to like a god, even though he was not. No one would understand why he wanted to place his feet onto gods land again, not even god himself. But it was the craving of an impure man, man though he be not, he once was though, and even still holding cravings of a man.2
Lucifer had spent many a night contemplating what he wanted more than anything; to be the right hand of god, to gloat in the joyousness of being worshiped. But being that he knew that would never happen, he wanted to be on the earth, to lead the people below him. Lucifer wanted to tell of the truths, of how it really is for them. But it was still too complicating…3
“Leave me, please,” Lucifer waved his hand at the woman to leave, wishing to be alone, to think more of his predicament. “How do I leave earth…How? Someone, something tell me.” Lucifer laughed, as there was no one to tell him what to do, but god, who’s house he was living in. He would have expected something if he was on his knees in the dusty deserts of earth, but because he was far from earth, he was not expecting an answer. 4
“The heavens are against me, I swear,” Lucifer mumbled under his breath. 5
A soft low voice snuck up on Lucifer just then, “What’s that my son, something is against you?” It was the son of god, Jesus. The very man that he wanted to be, but never could amount to, or so that is what god thought. 6
“Jealously reins in many colors, Lucifer. You would do best to remember that. You will get yourself nowhere here if you remain against things.” Jesus seemed to speak in a whisper, but yet his words crept over Lucifer’s skin as though his voice was booming. Jesus left the room, for Lucifer to think over what was just said. 7
Lucifer did nothing of the sort though, he merely scoffed at his words. “I can not stay here, with all this perfection and beauty. I want the evils of earth, the dirty, nasty things that life should be.”8
Lucifer lay in his bed contemplating how he would escape to the lands of earth, when it came to him: The Gates of Heaven. He would walk out of the gate and return to earth in whatever form he was in. Lucifer had heard rumors that if you walked out of The Gates of Heaven that you would not be as you were in Heaven or as you were when you were alive in the first place. But Lucifer would take that chance, for he wanted nothing more than to leave heaven. 9
Getting out of bed, he wrapped himself in a robe. Walking out of the house of god, he heard the sounds of the others sleeping, enjoying there dreams. Lucifer made his way out of the big oak doors without a sound, no one heard him and that was a good thing. He made his way down the path the lead its way to the gardens, the waters edge and The Gates of Heaven. 10
Past the greening trees and blooming night flowers he heard the waters crashing into the sand, knowing then that the gate was not far after that. Lucifer stopped at the waters edge, to take a drink of the salty water, for this was, to Lucifer the only thing that seemed impure. As who would want water that tasted of salt, for when you swam in it you felt grimy, when you drank it, it tasted terrible. The water seemed so out of place in a place that was of the holiest things ever created. 11
Sighing heavily, he trudged onto the gate. “My freedom will come, but I know there will be a price to pay one day…But do I really want to pay that price? Could I be simply happy here, for the rest of the existence that could last for only god knows how long. Could I? For is it really worth betraying the man who brought me here, because I was worthy of it. Is it really worth breaking his trust, the one man who has loved me most out of all…This is the point I knew would come, the doubt. The painful truth of what I am doing. What is so bad about this heaven that I have been brought to, to live in, to love and be accompanied by many a fair folk.” Lucifer stopped…He realized there were too many things wrong with what he wanted to do so badly. He couldn’t betray the people who loved him, they were like his family.12
Tears began to stream down his face, as he felt the guilt build up in him, for wanting to betray his family. But that was the only thing he had left to do, or so he thought. This life, or second living was not enough for him. Lucifer wanted the life that held betrayal, evil, another reason to live. And the life he had, had nothing of the sort.13
But still there was the betrayal of the ones who loved him, and he had never done anything of the sort before in his life. Yet, there in itself lay something that he wanted to do; betray ones around him. Giving into his wishes, he kept walking. Trying not to think of anything on the way there, he fidgeted with his robes.14
“Lucifer, how can you wish such things onto others? How can you let yourself fall so deeply into something so evil.” This voice came out of nowhere, it startled Lucifer. He whipped around, in search of the voices body, only to find the looming body of god. He stood over Lucifer as though he was a giant, when he was only a few inches taller than Lucifer. 15
“M…my lord, I…I do not know what to say…” Lucifer started to mumble, but was interrupted by god.16
“You need not say anything Lucifer, as I know what is in your heart. You carry such deeds no man in heaven should have. You are, I fear it, no longer worthy to stay in my house. As well, you may not exit my home through the gates, as those are holy and you no longer are. I will ask of you to sink below me, bury yourself into the ground and fall to the earth.” God said these words with such ache, that even Lucifer felt bad for what he knew was in him. Even so, he did as god asked him to.17
“I shall be forever known, lord. There shall be no man on earth or in heaven who does not know my name, or who I used to be. For I am sure you are going to take my name and place another over my head.18
“You are correct, Lucifer. But you are the one who will find your name. Not I, for I can not carry such evil names inside myself, unless told by others what they are. Now go, you are no longer welcome into my house, my home, my land of peace and love. You are forever banished to the hell you are going to create for yourself.” At that, god placed his hand on Lucifer’s shoulder and pushed on him, to help him sink into the ground below. 19
“I did love you, lord” Lucifer whispered. With hearing that, god sighed and pushed harder on Lucifer’s shoulder, ridding him from his site forever. 20
“And I still love you, my son…”21
