Full Circle

With Life comes Death,
The two cannot be seperate
Life is given with forgiving faith
while Death takes when it is our time.1

The many legends,
Hades and Hell
Purgatory and heaven,
maybe paradise for some.2

These legends lead us to fear death
to long to live some more
and so we search forever more
to extend these short mortal lives;
unsuccessfully.3

For Death is inevitable
whether you are four years old,
twenty
or a hundred and two
for mortals were never meant to live for long.4

A mortal life is the blink of an eye;
in the existance of the world
our immortal souls continue
living for small amounts of time
in different places, different era's, different lives.5

And when Death sweeps upon us
most let it take us with a sigh,
others yet continue to fight,
clawing their way to the light
but in the end
that is the circle of life.6

So when you wish me farewell,
do not shed those tears,
for my time has come ,
I am at peace.7

full circle has finally come around.8

  • I like this poem, mostly the truth behind it. I'm not really a huge fan of poetry as I feel that much of it is forced but I enjoyed this. It's so true and something I learned quickly.
When I was in the hospital and everyone thought I would die, well, I'm not going to say I didn't care, because I didn't want to leave my baby Tiffany and my best friend to themselves, but I will say that the dying part itself wasn't actually so bad for me to accept.
    This is a good write.

    Hi Becca,
    An interesting reflection.

    Some minor technical issues:
line 2: shouldn't it be 'seperated' rather than 'seperate' ?
Line 23: era's should be eras; no apostrophe needed as it is neither a contraction or showing possession.
Final line: capitalise the 'f' in full.
