Gods...

~Part One~1

Long before the time of humans, was planet Earth full of forests and tropics. A single figure stood on top of a grassy summit looking over the world below him. His height was almost as tall as the mountain itself. He was a god born to the stars from above. The god's name was Sulu, son of the lights and energy of the sky. Sulu was a single being created for the sole-purpose of fathering Earth's inhabitants. He wore a crown of the solar system, given to him by his glowing parents. 2

"Sister Earth, I call upon you." Sulu said to the Earth. His voice was broad and young.3

A rumble erupted at the base of the mountain and Sulu himself shake. 4

"Brother." A feminine voice replied. It was of the Earth's. Her voice was heavy and sounded gravely. "What is it you want?" She asked. 5

Sulu regained his balance and looked down at where the voice came from. "I am troubled." He said, taking a step off the summit. 6

"What troubles you?" She asked.7

"I see connections in the trees and plants. Even the stones share their lives with each other. The problem that I see is that I share nothing with no one. I have no kin.” The young Sulu explained. “I feel alone.” 8

Silence followed after he spoke. He reached the foot of the mountain and waited for a reply from the Earth. 9

“I am not like you, young Sulu. You are an orphan to this existence. You were born to be alone.” The Earth finally said. 10

Sulu took a step back and took her words in. He did not feel sad or angry by what she said. It was truth that she spoke of. He was born to be alone. Damned to watch a planet’s life force grow. 11

“You create your inhabitants, Sister.” Sulu folded two of his many arms across his chest, “What if I were to do the same?” He asked, hoping for a positive answer. 12

What sounded like thunder was the earth’s stifled laugh. “You have no such power to create life. That is not your reason of existence.” 13

Sulu unfolded his arms and took off his crown. “I am a god, Sister. I have the power to create whatever I imagine.” He said as he fiddled with his crown. 14

“Impossible.” The Earth spat in a mocking tone. “Simply inconceivable.” 15

Sulu placed his crown back on his head and turned around to walk back to the summit. He needed time to think about how he would create life of his own. He sat down on the top of the mountain and crossed his legs. He relaxed and closed his eyes to think. 16

After years of thinking, Sulu opened his eyes with the solution. He stood from where he sat and grabbed one of his arms. Without any sign of pain, he tore one of his arms off. He laid it on the grass and continued to rip off another one of his limbs. 17

“What are you doing, Sulu?” The Earth asked in shock. Sulu did not reply. He continued to tear himself apart until there was nothing left of him except his dismembered body that lay on the grass. 18

Slowly each of his body parts formed small bodies of infants. Seven small infants, the size of large boulders were born. 19

The Earth couldn’t stand to see Sulu destroy himself for the sake of children. She let out an angry cry and the silhouette of a women erupted from forest. It was made of wind, sand and stones and moved quickly with the subtle breeze. The translucent figure of the Earth moved of to the summit where the infants lay. Her intentions were to kill the children so that Sulu would be brought back to his physical body. She picked up the first child and held him in her fist, ready to squeeze the life out him. 20

A hand touched her shoulder which made her stop. 21

“Sister Earth, do not harm my children.” A voice from behind said. 22

Earth turned around and saw a translucent Sulu standing behind her. She loosened her grip on the child and set him down next to the others.23

“Sulu, you are a fool.” She said, turning to face him. 24

“I am not a fool. I no longer have a physical body and I am not sure how long I can remain like this, but I have indeed created life.” Sulu replied. 25

Earth folded her arms over her naked chest and glared at Sulu. “You were created to be the watcher of the life I create. You have destroyed yourself for a selfish mistake.” 26

“It was not selfish. And who that I am the one who is supposed to protect your creations?” He asked, his voice still remained calm. 27

“We all did.” Earth replied angrily. “Now, I am returning you whether you approve or not.” 28

Sulu took a step forward, in fear that she might harm one of his children. Instead of touching the children, Earth grabbed hold of Sulu’s chin and drew him closer. He was surprised that she did so but did not resist. She opened her mouth and blew a gust of wind into his translucent self. 29

Sulu closed his eyes and fell onto the mountain. 30

The young Sulu did not move until snow covered the mountain. In fact, snow and ice covered the earth during this time. He stood up and brushed the frost off his shoulders. 31

“Sister Earth, what happened?” He asked, looking around for her. He then suddenly remembered the children. He frantically got down on his knees and began to search the snow.32

“They are perfectly fine, Sulu.” Earth said from the snow covered forest. She arose from the white blanket of ice and walked towards Sulu. 33

Her body was shimmering with a thick coat of frost. Her hair was pulled back into a tight knot that fell far below her knees. 34

“They have grown since you’ve returned.” She said, looking behind her. A small child, around five years old, hid behind her and snuck little peeks at Sulu. 35

Sulu saw the child and knew that it was one of his sons. He stepped off the mountain and approached Earth and the child. 36

“Do not be afraid, child. You are my son.” Sulu said to the boy with his hand outstretched. The child moved forward from behind Earth and looked up at Sulu with caution. The boy took his father’s hand and held it tight. Light protruded from their linked hands and Sulu smiled. 37

“You possess light. That is wonderful!” Sulu exclaimed as he held onto his son’s hand. “I shall call you Zaptren, god of light.” He announced with a proud yell that shook the ice on the mountain. The boy’s eyes widened when his father announced his name. He had waited for a name and was now granted with one. 38

Sulu smiled at Zaptren and released his hand. He looked at Earth and asked, “Sister Earth, where are my other children?” 39

~Part Two~40

Sulu gave each of his new children names that he thought suited them based on their powers and abilities. 41

The first was Zaptren, god of light. 42

Then there was his brother, Sapan. Sapan was named for his ability to bring the night over Earth’s planet. Zaptren would then allow the sun to warm Earth after Sapan was done with the night. 43

Wummu was the third brother. He controlled the climates, weather and pressure changes of Earth. 44

The first and oldest sister of the children was Oculla. The goddess of the oceans and seas. She ruled the water of the planet, controlling and shifting it to her desire. She would play games with her brother, Wummu. They would incorporate their powers together to create terrible, devastating storms that would torment their other siblings. 45

Mania was the second sister of the children. She was a quiet child for she kept control of emotions. The reason why she was so much calmer than the other children was because she could easily lose any emotion if she wasn’t careful. Over time she learned how to pacify it so that she didn’t even have to worry about losing it. 46

Ivaya was the youngest of the sisters and the most beautiful of them. Her skin was as smooth as the clouds Wummu created and as cold as the ice Oculla produced. Everyone praised Ivaya for her looks and how lovely her attitude was. Even as a child she walked with grace and fluidity. Her kin watched over her and protected her since Ivaya’s beauty sort of enchanted them to do so. 47

Last of the children was Chlos. Sulu knew first hand that Chlos was suited to be the keeper of chaos. To keep it equal and balanced so that it wouldn’t get out of hand in the world. Chlos was strange to his brothers and sisters. They hardly included him in their activities or he would just keep to himself. He befriended Earth and would share his knowledge with her and vice versa. Earth looked out for Chlos when Sulu wasn’t about. 48

The seven gods grew to be powerful in their adolescent years. Zaptren was the bigger and wiser of his brothers and sisters. He would watch over them and help keep peace between their quarrels. 49

Wummu and Oculla became close with each other. They had connection that none of the others could understand. 50

Sapan developed a strange sense of humor that many would never comprehend. He loved playing pranks on his sister, Ivaya. He would tease her with his optical illusions that he would conjure to make her think she was ugly. 51

Chlos was alone growing up. Sulu didn’t pay much attention to him since he figured that it would be strong for the boy to grow up lonely. Mania felt sorry for her brother being neglected and would often spend her free time with him. As the years passed and they grew, Chlos would only speak to Mania and rarely to the others. 52

Once when they were young, Chlos discovered that he had the power to will small creatures, like gorillas, to go berserk. Mania would work with him and calm the creatures down. In turn this became a game for the two. Mania thought of it as a small simple game that children play. Chlos, however, was addicted to seeing the animals go insane. It pleased him to see the creatures yell and fight. 53

Soon the children grew into adult gods that would remain that way for eternity. 54

Sulu had grown older from the rest of his children. He now had a long beard and mustache that covered his soft pale skin. Earth had gone back to remain one with the planet as humans began to rise. 55

Now that humans began to grow on the planet, the gods took a fancy interest in them. The humans discovered the gods and began to praise them for their powers and creations. They built temples of them and worshipped statues carved from stone. 56

~Part Three~57

Chlos’ relationship with the other gods diminished over time. As the humans of the planet began to worship the others, they also began to fear Chlos and mark him as a bad entity. Mania would try to console Chlos when he would strike curses upon human villages but it was becoming harder for her to get to him. Chlos’ fury took an all time height when the gods built a temple of their own in the heavens. The reason for this was that the gods also built another temple for souls of humans and other beings to go. Sulu created a demi being to watch over the temple for souls. Chlos thought that he would be suited for the job but was angry when Sulu decided otherwise. The demi being’s name was Yquol. It possessed neither male nor female features but a body that looked smooth. 58

Chlos despised this Yquol since it was so weak and useless compared to a god. One evening, Chlos took a journey to the temple for souls to meet with Yquol. 59

Yquol spoke in two voices that over lapped each other. The first was deep and raspy, while the other was sweet and melodic. 60

“Good evening, Lord Chlos. What brings you here?” Yquol asked when Chlos entered the stone temple’s doors. 61

Chlos wore battle armor and a helmet with horns on either side. He removed his helmet as he strode down the long hall. His long dark hair fell and he shook it back. His eyes looked angry and full of rage yet he wore a calm expression on his face. 62

“I have a question, Yquol.” Chlos replied as he took off his chainmail gloves. 63

Yquol took a step forward off the stone alter and opened it’s arms in an opening gesture. He wore a white toga that was beaded with gold droplets. 64

“What would you like to know, my lord?” It asked as Chlos got closer. 65

Chlos stopped in front of Yquol and stared him in the eyes. 66

“Tell me, Yquol. You of all beings would know how to kill a god. Am I correct?” He asked with a somewhat crooked smile. 67

Yquol took a step back, knowing that Chlos was planning something terrible. 68

“Why…Why do you ask this, m-my lord?” Yquol stuttered.69

Chlos shrugged a lazy shrug before continuing to ask, “What would it take to rip a god’s soul from their body?” 70

“What are you planning, Lord Chlos?” Yquol took another step back as Chlos took a step forward. 71

“Do know what strife I have endured? Do you know what pain I suffer? All of it is because of him.” Chlos growled. 72

“Who?” Yquol stuttered again.73

“My father.” Chlos shot his hand out and grabbed Yquol by the throat. Yquol gasped and tried to release himself from the god’s killer grip. 74

“He will suffer for all the pain he has caused me.” Chlos growled as he choked Yquol. He continued to squeeze and Yquol tried feverishly to escape but could not. 75

Finally Yquol went limp and Chlos released him. It’s lifeless body fell to the stone floor with it’s eyes rolled back. It’s throat was twisted and discolored from Chlos’ hold. 76

Chlos looked down at Yquol’s body without any emotion. He turned around and put his gloves back on as he walked to the exit of the temple. He placed his helmet on his head once he got to the stone doors. Chlos turned around and raised his hand to the ceiling of the temple. A orange-red produced from his hand and shot forward into the ceiling. The pillars began to shake and the ceiling began to fall. Chunks of stone fell from all around. One large sized rock fell and crushed Yquol’s body as the temple began to collapse. 77

Chlos opened the door and left just as a chunk landed where he had been standing. 78

Terrific screams were heard as Chlos left the temple. They were the screams of the souls that vacated the temple. They cried out as their sanctuary was destroyed by this foul god who just watched with a sly smile. 79

~Part Four~80

Sulu sat in the temple of the gods alone. He had already gotten word of the temple of souls being destroyed and he had already sent his children to find Chlos. He sat on the head throne with a frown plastered on his face. 81

He knew that this might happen yet he never thought it would be so drastic of Chlos to destroy a temple of holiness. 82

The temple of the gods looked similar to the temple of souls except it held thrones for all the gods. 83

Sulu rested his forehead in one of his hands and sighed as he heard the screams of terrorized souls flee from the crumbling temple of souls. 84

Even though the two temples were miles apart, Sulu could hear the screams perfectly. 85

The marble doors of the temple were thrown open with such great force that they left cracks in the walls beside them. Chlos walked into the temple holding his helmet at his side. He walked quickly towards Sulu as he stood from his thrown. 86

“My son, what is the meaning of your rage?” Sulu demanded with anger filling in his voice. 87

Chlos snarled and shot forward. He knocked Sulu to the floor and sent his fist into his chest.88

“You have, father.” Chlos replied with a fierce growl. 89

Sulu’s eyes filled with horror as his son ripped his fist out of his chest. Chlos held a glowing sphere that he stared at envious of its light. 90

“This is what is inside all of us. It is what gives us power and strength. Without it, we are nothing.” Chlos recited to Sulu as he gave him a smirk. 91

Sulu couldn’t speak; he was so appalled and horrified by his son’s act. 92

“And now, father. That power is mine.” Chlos held the sphere of light up before he lowered it down to his chest. He pressed the sphere onto himself and it dissolved. Chlos let out a pained yell as he absorbed the light of the sphere. 93

Sulu struggled to reach for his sword that was strapped to his side but was stopped by Chlos’ foot. Chlos looked down at him with a sickening stare. His eyes were pure evil and filled with hate. He reached down and grabbed Sulu’s sword from its holder and raised it over Sulu’s chest. 94

“Goodbye father.” Chlos said emotionless as he thrust the blade into Sulu’s heart. 95

There was a loud crackling noise that sounded like thunder as Sulu gasped. The whole temple shook as he began to die. 96

“Chlos!” Oculla’s cry came from behind. Oculla and Wummu had arrived at the temple at that very second. Mania followed behind them. Chlos stood from Sulu’s body and turned to face them. They saw Sulu’s mutilated body when he stood and Mania gasped. Oculla let out and angry cry and shot forward. Wummu sent a powerful wave at Chlos but did not affect him. Chlos stared at them with a smirk before stepping away from Sulu. Oculla ran at him ready to attack when he grabbed her by the arm and threw her into the wall without any trouble. Wummu ran after Oculla as she fell from the wall. Mania stared at Chlos as he approached her. She didn’t know what to do. She had always been so close with him and now to see him like this broke her heart. 97

“Chlos…Why?” She asked as she stepped away from him. Chlos stopped in front of her and sighed, “In the world we were born to, there was no pain or suffering. Now that humans have came to live, I feel that new pain that they create. I see their wars and think to myself what insolent and pathetic creatures they are. Sulu stood by and watched as they destroy themselves. I am not going to let that happen any longer. I will show the world what true agony is.” Chlos explained to Mania. 98

Wummu shot another energy wave at the god of chaos. Chlos simply raised his hand and sent the wave back at Wummu. 99

Mania raised both of her arms and began to conjure a powerful wave of energy when Chlos grabbed her and threw her to the floor. 100

“I care for you, Mania. More than you would believe. Please, don’t make me hurt you like I did to Sulu.” Chlos said as he walked to the exit of the Temple. 101
